Selling below cost of production only means working for retailers... One can as well just be an egg dealer by buying and selling Eggs. Fix your price by calculating your cost of production and after which you can decide to add minimal amount as profit regardless of wat is obtainable elsewhere. Truth is You will not run out of biz but have a committed customer base that will patronise you as long as your products are of premium quality and always available. |
My candid advice is dt U shld buy commercially made feed, Profit margin wil stil b good also hw consistent in d propounding of d different ingredients can u b ova d period? obirocz: |
It not much bo$$ as long as the feed is not wasting away as per pouring all over the floor.

|
@hindsight. Interesting project and updates... I must giv you kudos. A bit of advise though, building to d fence ws not a brilliant idea for ventilation purposes, enof light wont make it into d pen even during the day. And in my opinion d pen is not high enough jst incase U may want to expand in the future. I will talk abt the roofing too, but let me not make my post too long. Once mre, kudos. |

3weeks old...what do you guys think about the growth rate?! Is it okay??
|
As long as the feed isnt being wasted by spreading all over the floor and the birds are growing commensurately, i dont think you should worry. Rexology: |

You should have consulted a vet. much ealier but... You did nothing wrong in giving gumboro 1st, d deal is its not good practice to vaccinate a flock that is already down with disease. My advise to you is as follows: 1. Clear all litter and introduce fresh one to avoid reinfection. 2. Clean and disinfect all feeders & drinkers, ensure ur foot dip is in place as well. 3. Demarcate pen and Separate d sick ones 4. Administer broad based antibiotics, anti coccidiosis& multivitamin 5. Feed adequately. 6. If no improvement consult a vet. doc. [quotes author=mbuotidemjames post=48010940]What I'm saying is Dat I gave Dem gumboro first.... My mistake becos no one replied here n a friend told me I should give gumboro before lasota. The main issue here is that my chicks are still sleeping while standing and they are not eating well...thereby affecting their growth. Below are their pictures.. They will just put their heads down like that as if they want to eat and before you know, their eyes are closed. They are too dull.... Please what might be the cause. This is not huddling.....sir, help
|
Come on dannB tribalism shouldnt come to play here...To grow we need to live and think beyond ethnic divides. dannB: |
VACCINATION There are some little mistakes we do while vaccinating that do lead to vaccine failure, possibly you maintained the cold chain and you checked the expiry date but your administration may be wrong. *Never vaccinate with chlorinated water: This destroys or reduces the potency of the vaccine and that is why you must stabilize your water before using it. Avi blue or skimmed milk are been used in this sense to stabilize ur water before mixing in your vaccine and also make it safe for use. *follow the measurement of diluent to be used: don't mix your vaccines with just any amount of water, there is a prescribed measurement which is 100dose to 1 liter of water. *Withdraw all forms of antibiotics, virucidals ETC atleast 3days before vaccinating and administer multivitamins 24-48hrs after vaccination this will help boost the immunity of your birds and at the same time help them recover from vaccination stress. *Never allow your vaccine pass the required time in your pen: its not a must for the birds to finish the whole vaccine solution dey only require little quantity and that is one reason for withdrawing water from them min 2-3hrs to vaccination time, never allow your vaccine use more dan 20min before you withdraw it from dem. * Avoid spilling of vaccine in or around your pen this could lead a increase in the viral load of the environment capable of subduing the immunity of your birds. All vaccine vials or remainders should be burnt or buried. For mentor-ship call/whatsapp 08160403222 THANKS. FOR STOPPING BY TO READ. Really NICE... If i may add though, in vaccinating its not advisable to wash or clean your drinkers using disinfectant or detergent, remember vaccines contain life viruses also ensure adequate number of drinkers are used so that all birds shld atleast have a sip. |
