The Federal Ministry of Education has announced a renewed crackdown on examination malpractice across Nigeria. Backed by the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999, the Ministry will begin taking legal action against anyone involved in cheating—students, teachers, parents, or school officials. Collaboration with Security Agencies In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, the Ministry is partnering with the Nigeria Police, DSS, and other security agencies to enforce strict measures. Offenders will no longer go unpunished. Call for Public Vigilance The Ministry is calling on everyone—students, parents, school heads, and the general public—to report any suspicious activity related to exams. This collective effort is aimed at restoring trust in Nigeria’s education system. Why It Matters The government believes that ending malpractice is key to upholding the value of academic certificates and promoting merit-based achievement. This initiative is not just a warning—it’s a promise. Offenders will face the full weight of the law. https://schooloverflow.com/topic/fg-moves-to-curb-exam-malpractice-nationwide-809

JAMB has announced a special mop-up exam for candidates who missed the 2025 UTME. This decision covers over 5.6% of all registered candidates who were unable to write the exam, regardless of the reason. Why the Mop-Up Exam is Important Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, said the move ensures no candidate is left out due to unforeseen issues. He stressed that UTME is a placement test to rank candidates, not a measure of intelligence. Addressing Concerns Oloyede denied any claims of mismanagement or ethnic bias during the exam process, saying: “We must rise above ethnic profiling and misinformation. I take responsibility—not because I failed, but because that’s leadership.” What’s Next? The date for the mop-up exam will be announced soon. JAMB assured candidates of a fair and transparent process for admissions. Stay tuned for updates and prepare ahead if you’re one of those affected. https://schooloverflow.com/topic/jamb-to-hold-mop-up-exam-for-2025-utme-candidates-who-missed-their-exams-787
