My only reservation with the late Tupac Amaru Shakur was his deep belief in God. Damn, that Nigger acknowledged God a great deal in his songs, poetry and interviews.

And now you, Shymmex.

Inner voice and intuition? The inner voices you hear are nothing but your innermost thoughts that come to you as voices from others. Your intuitive capabilities and dispositions have been ingrained in you since birth. No God is responsible for them.

In my heart of hearts, I really don't believe in the big bang theory, just as I think the idea of a God creating the entire universe and living things in not only absurd but unrealistic. Don't you think a "God" capable of doing such great wonders is too big and wonderful to be imagined. Now, don't you think if a "God" created something, then that "God" must have been created by some other "God". Now, infinite regression sets in.

If I were to choose between the big bang theory and the bible's explanation of the creation of the world, I'll go with the former, as it has some scientific basis.

...ain't no God, Bro!

I'm Atheist.

I only used the hypothesis to buttress a point. I have always doubted God's existence, even as a kid. Well, I grew from being agnostic to a type of Agnosticism that borders on Atheism...and now to a complete Atheist.

How I became an Atheist? Oro po ninu iwe kobo.

I'll tell that some other time.

I always like knowing why Nigerians are atheists.....they're rare gems.

Quote/mention me when you want to tak about it [be it on this thread or the religion section].

I am a staunch, unrepentant Atheist.

I'll prefer Hennessy. grin

Either there's no God or there's a God who doesn't deserve to be worshiped.

I'll go with my first hypotheses, any day, anytime. There is no God.

The second hypothesis can be succinctly justified from Richard Dawkins quote in his book, "The God Delusion":

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

There's nothing holy about that fictional journal/diary smiley grin

The attributes he ascribed to "Jehovah" can be proven from various verses in the "Holy Bible".

Even if he exists, Why should I worship such a "God"?

Atheist or agnostic?

If you believe God is fake, but that there's something out there greater than us, then you're agnostic.

How did you become an atheist?

The Bible is very clear. All one needs to do, is to read it with an open mind.... undecided

And the man of God is not using any power to determine who gets to heaven, he was just using the criteria set out in the Scriptures (which any individual must obey in order to make heaven), to arrive at a conclusion about the person's destination.

Currently on my phone. I'll get back to this post later.

There are several things I'd wish for this thread to deviate from, and I believe we've discussed one of them at the onset of the thread:

Allocating a large amount of the thread's content to non-Yorubas, esp when unnecessary.

You talk about other groups, they will come in.

If possible, let's minimize talking about romanis, fla.the.ad or whatnot. It takes essence away from the thread.

Honestly, it makes the thread boring after a while. Let's allocate much of our time to discussing Yoruba and Yorubaland.

If care is not taken, this thread will become a war zone.

You must be omniscient and very spiritual to have known she died without sins...

Do you know what's called Ese Afiroda? grin

Sins committed via one's thoughts.

Now, I'm not saying she died sinful. I just think Adeboye coming out to tell the whole world that she is in heaven doesn't only sound cocky and conceited, but also "unchristian-like".

You sound like an atheist.....if so, I owe you a drink.

If not...... If the bible claims that we're all sinners [I find that I like to sin quite a lot], how can someone die sinlessly?

According to the Bible, there are certain conditions a person must fulfil, in order to enter heaven. If Pastor Adeboye saw she had fulfilled those tenets as laid out in the Scriptures, would he be so wrong as to say she was in heaven, if he was convinced she had met the scriptural qualifications to gain access into that realm?? Even Jesus Christ told one of the thieves that was crucified along with him: "Today, thou shalt be with me in Paradise." Would you say He had no right to do so? shocked

I do not want to start quoting scriptures, as this thread is not a platform for such things. But please be rest assured that the Bible is clear on what an individual needs to do, to enter heaven. undecided If any individual meets the criteria, what would hinder him from gaining entry into the place??

Christianity........a nest of confusion.

Since when did a man of God have the power to determine who gets through the gate of heaven?

Actually the bible is quite unclear.

The Ekitis in Kwara State are not many. Just 1 LGA. So, if they merge them with their folks in Ekiti, it's not a bad idea.

Why were they separated from Ekiti state in the first place? Are they natives or migrants?

Many borders in Nigeria needs to be redrawn.

One would think the borders of Nigerian state was drawn by a child.

Yes. Its easier to identify with historical kingdoms than the attempted STate creation by the military. Oyo STate, Osun state, EKiti STate Ogun state lagos State are Nigerian and military terminologies

There can be up to 20 provinces based on our ancestral differences. WHat is called Osun currently is a combination of Igbomina, Oyo speaking, Ijesha, And Ife people, Ogun is made of Egba, Ijebu and riverine people, Ondo is made of Ondo, AKure, Ikale, and riverine people

Merge the Ekiti in Kwara with the current EKiti, The Okun can stand alone, the Igbomina in Kwara merge with their Osun brothers

It would make traditional rulers more powerful but Yorubas dont have an issue with obeying their annointed kings and like in Oyo empire there are Oyo mesi to check the king

Say what?

Okun can stay alone but the Ekitis in Kwara can't? Why not just blend the whole SW na?
