News reaching our newsdesk indicates that Akinwumi Ambode has won the Lagos State All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial ticket.

Ambode won the keenly contested election on Thursday.

The 51-year-old accountant and public finance management expert, defeated other candidates like Commissioner for Works, Femi Hamzat, the Senate Minority Whip, Ganiyu Solomon, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji and former Commissioner for Health, Leke Pitan.

Prominent names among the other aspirants who lost out, include Tayo Ayinde, former Attorney-General, Olasupo Shasore, former Commissioner for Special Duties, Tola Kasali and Adetokunbo Wahab.

The party is yet to make any official announcement on the development.

I am too small to hand-wave your words Kabiyesi.

One thing I know is that PDP will form the next government in Lagos State.

Politics / Re: Pre-poll Election: Ngige (apc), Tony Nwoye (pdp), Obiano (apga), Ubah (lp) by Ilemba(m): 1:17am On Nov 16, 2013
tankoemmanuel: As the long-awaited clash of the titans for the soul of the government house in Awka draws closer, raging arguments, rabble-rousing and high decibel cacophonies have been going viral among the contestants and their accolades.

Here on Nairaland too, it seems that the centre can no longer hold. While many have pitched their tents with APC's Ngige for reasons which they consider sound, some others think they are being unwise and impertinent. They would rather die for APGA's Obiano. However, from the look of things, after yesterday's PDP's rally in Onitsha, one can no longer take PDP's Tony Nwoye for granted in the less than 48-hours' election.

Pundits claim that the 22-hour curfew imposed on the state on the day of the election which is intent upon restricting movement and the creation of about 1,700 extra polling units that the voters are still ignorant of are all calculated attempts marshalled out by the PDP to rig the election in their favour.

As a result, it is needful that a pre-poll be conducted here on Nairaland by Anambrarians to get a public feel of what the outcome of Saturday's election would be like.
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO VOTE:
1. This pre-poll election is between the four major contestants:

A, Sen. Dr. Chris Ngige (APC)
B, Willie Obiano(APGA)
C, Comrade Tony Nwoye(PDP)
D, Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah(LP)

2. You may either vote based on personality or party affiliation.

3. Do not vote twice. Your vote is null if you vote twice.

4. Do not hijack the thread.

You may vote now...

Religion / Islam The Religion Of Peace by Ilemba(m): 5:50am On Jul 29, 2012
What is the main message of Islam?
There are many questions, but I have one simple answer for all the
common questions.
How would you answer the question ‘What is Islam’?
Our prophet Muhammed salla Allahu wa alihi wa sallam answered this
question as follow:
On the authority of Umar bin Al-Khattab radi-allahu anhu, who said:
‘One day while we were sitting with the messenger of Allah salla Allahu wa
alihi wa sallam there appeared before us a man whose clothes were
exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of
journeying were to be seen on him and none of us knew him. He walked up
and sat down by the prophet. Resting his knees against his and placing the
palms of his hands on his thighs, he said: "O Muhammed, tell me about
Islam."
The messenger of Allah salla Allah ua alihi wa sallam said: "Islam is to
testify that there is no Illah but Allah and Muhammed is the messenger of
Allah, to perform the prayers, to pay the zakat, to fast in Ramadhan and to
make the pilgrimage to the House of Allah if you are able to do so."
He said: "You have spoken rightly", and we were amazed at him asking him
and saying that he had spoken rightly. He said: "Then tell me about Iman."
He said: "It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers and
the Last Day, and to believe in divine destiny, both the good and the evil
thereof."
He said: "You have spoken rightly." He said: "Then tell me about Ihsan." He
said: "It is to worship Allah as though you are seeing Him, and while you see
Him not yet truly He sees you." He said:" Then tell me about the Hour."
He said: "The one questioned about it knows no better than the questioner."
He said: "Then tell me about its signs." He said:" That the slave-girl will give
birth to her mistress and that you will see the barefooted, naked, destitute
herdsman competing in constructing lofty buildings."
Then he took himself off and I stayed for a time. Then he said: "O Omar, do
you know who the questioner was? " I said: "Allah and His messenger know
best." He said: "He was Jibriel (Gabriel), who came to you to teach you your
religion."’
I like it and you?
