yeah I agree & know that a quatrain is a stanza of 4 lines, but in rap anything can be bent to suit the emcee.. & 4 line in a quatrain was never the standard in text battling..in fb it's sometimes 6[tega gat] or 2[daniel george crulley]
everybody has their style.. when i came to nl, everybody was doing 3 lines per bar...

if an emcee wants to infuse two punches in a single quatrain for e.g.. he would have to do beyond 4 lines
or if he needs to elaborate on his set up for the punch land properly..

lyricism is not just about punch punch punch... rap battling is now an art form...we want to see how rappers can string words together & rhyme brilliantly as well while storytelling


& it's easier to do 2 punches in a single quatrain with the same rhyme scheme if you had ample time to prepare.. but not when you have just 1 or 2 days notice....


the ibime /U3 battle for example...ibime was doing 2 punchlines per quatrain... but only because he had enough time to write...

The ability to shorten your words into four lines and still drop remarkable punchlines is what makes you a brilliant textcee or emcee.

The emcee/textcees I know can drop 3 punchlines in 3 lines. It depends on how skilled and intelligent you are. If you need 6 lines to drop just two punchlines and show your "rhyming skills," then indeed, you still have a long way to go.

Time to write is quite understandable though, but why stress it? Why don't you just drop one punch in a quatrain and give your readers a smooth written?
