Honestly, it pains me to see how we are bringing ourselves down to this level. We can't all have the same opinion on everything, but does that mean we have to insult one another? So long as the people committing terrorist acts in this country are Muslims (regardless of whether they're fundamentalists like ISWAP or bandits who are not religious at all), christians who have little or nothing to do with 97% of the insecurity in the North would justifiably feel attacked. It's human nature. If a Christian terrorist group in the North should emerge and start both Muslims and Christians, Muslims would say they're being targeted and truth be told, their own would go beyond just crying to the media. It is on this same country that Muslims started killing innocent Christians around them because of a comment made in Denmark.

The narrative that Christians are being specifically targeted in Nigeria is pure B.S, but it is inevitable. Since the murder of Deborah, several Muslims have been killed for 'blasphemy' in the north. One happened in Sokoto because a man told a begged to only say "help me for the sake of Allah" and not "help for the sake of prophet Muhammed." In another occasion, they killed a vigilante man for saying "Not even prophet Muhammad can convince me to release you." I think we've had 5 incidents like that since 2022, and all the victims were Muslims. But be honest with yourself. If Muslims are okay with such animalistic behavior (as you have proven), does that mean Christians have to put up with it as well? This is why you don't see me arguing with Okpansukka and co even though I disagree with the narrative they're pushing.

I am tired of this issue sef. Everyone has become emotional, making irrational posts all because of religious sentiments. If it were tribal sentiment, I would understand. I understand that there are people in this country who tend to be overly aggressive and forceful inorder to appear to be standing up to a North that has been made to seem by mostly Southern based media, as an overbearing and domineering entity on the rest of Nigeria

This idea that most Northern Muslims are okay with the status quo and want nothing to be done is insulting. Why would a people being killed not want things to change, unless you're making a veiled insinuation that they're in on it?

The idiot called Buhari famously rode on Fulani superiority sentiments and we saw the consequences, particularly during the 2011 elections. Later as president, the same Buhari openly and confidently went on to refer to Igbos as a dot in circle. Imagine talking about a major ethic group that way. If he could say that in public, then heaven knows what he says in private.

The same Buhari also violently attacked the unarmed IPOB and Yoruba nation, which forced IPOB to pick up arms, before he hurriedly went on to declare IPOB as terrorists. Meanwhile, the same man dragged his feet on declaring bandits as terrorists and even started a nonsense rehabilitation program for boko haram.

Overall, I have very little trust or faith in the Americans themselves and I do not want them here. They are not genuine. The fact that our leaders are bad does not make the Americans good.

Instead, what we need are foreign PMCs who come in, do their job, take a handsome pay, and get the fvck out. Eeben Barlow from South Africa did a great job around 2014/2015. But the same US sanctioned his company and ensured that Buhari kicked him out. We need someone like him. The government should bring him back. But I am sure the US will go on to sanction him again.

Foreign troops, especially Americans, are a no-no. They attract flies. Even worse, their careless methods of bombing everything will create serious divisions in the country. At least the Nigerian government still acknowledges it when it mistakenly bombs people. The Americans won't acknowledge anything. They call it "collateral damage". Case closed.

I won't even encourage Nigeria to turn to Wagner/Afrika Korps because it will just end up becoming another geopolitical struggle. Ukraine openly funded and armed JNIM against Wagner in Burkina Faso. They will do the same here too.

As for our leaders, they are the ones who got us here. Their habit of saying all sorts of BS just to win elections has come back to bite them. It is funny. But we should not be happy.

Is it smart that we citizens cheer and celebrate the fall of our leaders? Nope. Because whatever happens to them will affect us too. And unlike them who can afford to travel out and live a life of luxury wherever they flee to, we here will be stuck in this country.

In all, we must not support the Americans coming here but we most acknowledge that there is a problem in this country and we must find a solution to it.

If the US unilaterally invades Northern Nigeria and bombs towns and cities, killing people who have nothing to do with the death of anyone (Christians or Muslims), it will lead to mass deaths of Muslims and that is a fact. It will also create chaos and groups like Boko Haram thrive in chaos and will exploit, once again that is a fact. When a people feel helpless against an enemy, they usually welcome those who come to fight on behalf of them, that will be the kind of scenario to likely play out. An example of that is Iraq

When al-qaeda became heavy handed against the Sunnis during the Occupation of Iraq, the Sunnis turned on them and fought them and al-qaeda was defeated. Al-qaeda became hated to the Sunnis of Iraq up until Nouri Al-Maliki the shia sectarian Prime Minister started persecuting Sunnis with Shia militias. The Sunnis picked up arms and formed groups to defend themselves and al-qaeda in the form of ISIS came to aid them. The Sunnis who had hitherto loathed them, welcomed them and they fought side by side because survival was the priority. Later on, ISIS turned on the Sunnis after they fended off the Shia attacks, which prompted the Sunnis to once again rise up against ISIS

Look since you've decided to be block headed this time, if the US comes and fights the bandits and terrorists killing the people of Northern Nigeria, no sane person will oppose it, but if it's otherwise and there's reason to think that maybe the case due to all the rhetoric, then the scenario I laid out is a very real possibility

Personally, I'm an advocate for the re-instatement of the South African PMC that routed Boko Haram in 6months. Prof Zulum, Borno's Governor for the longest time has been calling for their return. Those guys did excellently well and I recall seeing an interview of the head of the PMC, where he stated that it was the US who put pressure on the Nigerian Government to send them packing. Northern Nigeria lies along the Sahel and the Sahel is awash with arms and armed groups. In the event of an explicit religious war against Muslims that Trump and Nigerians are parroting,(1) there'll be a flood of arms into the region, (2) there'll be an influx of many sahelian religious armed groups into the region, (3) pariah groups like Boko Haram and their likes will gain legitimacy among Muslims because they'll present themselves as defenders of the people etc

The Christians that Trump will supposedly send the troops to save will become actual targets in the eyes of many, who would have witnessed US bombs and soldiers killing their families and people in their name and so the genocide claim might actually become true and it'll be so while the US saviours are present

Much of Niger Republic is just an extension of Northern Nigeria and the Nigeriens whether overtly or covertly are likely to get involved, Chad may also, other Muslim countries may clandestinely provide support. Likewise, alot of Nigerian military personnel are Northerners who'll join the battle against the murderous US forces. For anyone to understand the significance of the North and Nigeria's military, alot of homes all across the North, whether poor or affluent, have sons and daughters serving or that have served in the military. The military culture in the North runs deep and so you'll have that being added into the mix

The reality is that, unless the US comes through the front door via co-operation and support, to carryout missions in conjunction with the Nigerian military, a unilateral war with the stated aim of defending Christians that leads to the targeting of and mass killings of Muslims who have nothing to do with banditry or any armed groups and are just daily trying to survive will lead to disastrous consequences. I believe it'll lead to a civil war much bloodier than the first because it'll be religious in nature

If that happens, a lot of the fools cheering for the US to come kill Muslims on this forum and beyond will likely be dead when all is said and done and the US would have done nothing but made a bad situation a lot worse for Nigerians, while they'd have secured the country's resources for themselves

Fair enough there are sparse examples of countries that have developed, against many that were setback. The main difference is that Nigeria has always been an ally of the US and it hasn't gotten us much, what would a military occupation of Nigeria fetch us? Especially if it's unwelcome? Usman Fodio was the leader of a general uprising. It was an organic uprising he led with the support of fellow locals, who like him were fed up with the existing leadership. He became Caliph because he was able to unite the warring Hausa States into one structure, under a single leadership

The Hausa kingdoms had been at war for centuries, killing and enslaving one another and he was able to unite them under a central leadership. He didn't impose any foreign ideals because he was from the people

As for you saying the 'jihad' changed the power dynamics in the region, the Hausa apart from the previous rulers weren't in anyway relegated and the Fulani, apart from those who were part of the leaders of the uprising weren't in anyway upgraded

If you read about how leadership was granted initially, ethnicity had nothing to do with it. The most knowledgeable scholars were granted leadership through consensus, it was only made hereditary much later on and that was in keeping with the traditional means of power retention the Hausa were used to. The nobility and major title holders remained predominantly Hausa, there are Emirs who are descendants of Hausa rulers and have no links with Fulani and the fact that even those who are descended from Fulani are for all intents and purposes Hausa, puts paid to the claim of an ethnic hierarchy

If you knew a thing about Northern Nigeria, you'd realize that ethnicity isn't prioritised, religion is more prioritised in leadership. Kano is a good example, Shekarau's family is bura from Borno, Sabo bakin Zuwo was Nupe from Niger, Muhammad Abubakar of Bauchi was from Kogi but was Governor of Bauchi. There are tons of examples and if the power dynamics favour the Fulani, ethnic politics would be a thing

The Hausa-Fulani identity is more of an acknowledgement of the shared history of the two ethnic groups in Hausa land. Those two ethnic groups are most responsible for shaping the history of Hausa land. It's also to acknowledge the Hausanization of the Fulani who became Emirs, as it is today

The Northern Nigeria is more complex or perhaps more heterogenous compared to the South. The Northern Nigerians are predominantly Muslims with Christian minority, how that happened is something we all should have been concerned about.

Without mincing words, the same people we call bandits, cattle rustlers, terrorist all have something in common, they are all Muslims and they are mostly Fulanis.

The Fulanis aren't historically Nigerians, since we have learned to accept them as Nigerians, Fulanis from Niger, Chad, Mali can easily claim to be Nigerians and commit these crimes probably in connivance with the ones in Northern Nigeria.

The Usman Dan Fodio conquest of Northern Nigeria had ethnic consequences, some argued it was a jihad and it had nothing to do with ethnic cleansing but the records says otherwise.

In fewer terse, the issue of ethnic cleansing has been going on in the North (especially around North Central ) for decades if not centuries, except it receives more publicity recently due to the advent of social media. Most minority ethnic communities are Christians, at these rate there will be none left.

He wasn't some foreign invader like you're trying to make it seem and his wars had the support of the local populations for the most part, so I don't know what ethnic cleansing you're referring to and I hope you're not talking about the Hausa people

Most attacks by bandits are in rural areas, in the urban centres everyone lives without looking over their shoulders. Benue's insecurity is a recent thing, the old ones are Plateau and Kaduna so I don't understand the centuries old ethnic cleansing you're talking about.

In Plateau and Kaduna, let no one potray the Christians as angels because they have many atrocities against Muslims in those localities to their names
