Nairaland / General / Nigerian King Who Chose Suicide Instead Of Bowing To The Queen Of England by In4mationplug(f): 12:58pm On Sep 12, 2022
The Story Of Attah Ameh Oboni - the Nigerian King who Chose Suicide Instead of Bowing to the Queen of England

Attah Ameh Oboni was a revered Igala King. At a particular meeting held in Kaduna which consisted of all paramount traditional rulers in Nigeria and which had the queen of England in attendance, Attah Ameh was asked to remove his cap to greet the Queen of England as others had done.

Though he refused until they said he should leave the meeting if he would not remove his cap. But Attah was not like others, or was he? It was taboo for Attah to remove his cap in the public.

The entire hall where they were staying was occupied by a swan of bees which emanates from the cap of Attah Ameh Oboni which he removed in order to greet the Queen.

The Queen of England as well as other rulers in the meeting ran helter-skelter except the friendly Oba of Benin who was asked by Attah Ameh to go out before he removed his cap. The hall became empty as some were stung by the bees and the meeting ended.

According to history, Attah Ameh Oboni was asked to be arrested and handcuffed by the security people, which they did, but the handcuffs fell off his hands.

He was later locked up in a room on the instruction of the Northern rulers and guarded by the security personnel but only to find out later by the personnel that he had left the room. Yes, when the security was taking him to be locked up, he told his driver, Amanabo of blessed memory, to take the car and be going to Idah while the security locked him in the room.

He then warned Amanabo not to look back until he felt a cool breeze in the car. Though Amanabo argued a little that he cannot leave the Attah there but later obeyed and started driving back to Idah from Kaduna.

After some time, he felt the cool breeze in the car, and Attah Ameh was sitting inside the car.

The incident in the meeting made many traditional rulers which were mostly northerners to be angry, especially making kings run in such a manner because of bees.

This became one important sin, and it was like “one sin too many”.

The queen of Englnad was also not happy and they (the Queen and northern leaders) started looking for a way to remove Attah Ameh from the throne since he was getting tougher and uncontrollable like others, as well as searching for an obedient replacement.
Igala has various cultural festivals, one of which is Ocho. Ocho is celebrated before farming starts, and it is the time that Attah Igala prays to God for sufficient rainfall, bountiful harvest, success in hunting.
It is celebrated in the bush and the venue is called Ere-ocho, where the Attah will hunt until he kills a Buffalo or a strong animal. The community in Idah where Ocho takes place is called Ogo-Efa.
He performs a little sacrifice to the ancestors using a fowl in the process, and this was to find out if there will blessings or problems in the land after the Ocho.
Before this time, the enemies at home (among the Igala people), especially those having connections with the leaders of the northern region, were working hard to get any evidence either true or false which can be used to remove him from the throne
The blood of the animal used as sacrifice at Ocho ground now became what the enemies would use against him
Petition was written by these two Igala people to the Queen and some other Northern leaders that Attah Ameh was sacrificing humans during the Ocho festivals.
Since they were looking for any means to displace him with, judgment was quickly passed that he must be dethroned, even when investigations were not yet concluded.
In addition, all the Igala cultural festivals including the Ocho were immediately banned and this remained for almost 63 years until Governor Yahaya Bello unbanned them based on the appeal of the present Attah Igala
Already, before this time, the Oba of Benin who had such friction with the British had already been dethroned and banished from Benin. So, Attah Ameh Oboni knew that at that point, no matter what spiritual approach applied, ..
it can only postpone the evil day as his enemies will never relent until he was removed by them
The result of the blood sample which was taken from the Ocho venue and taken to University of Ibadan for analysis had arrived and it was proved that it was the blood of an animal and not human.
Sadly, the revered King, Attah Ameh had passed on before the result was brought
But Attah Ameh, being very sure that he was wrongly accused and framed up by his enemies, especially those from Igala who wrote the petition against him marking the beginning of his planned dethronement, made some pronouncements before his death
He was allegedly quoted to have said that ” the person who wrote the petition against him would have that hand dried up, and that the leader of the gang or petitioners would be buried three times”. And they all came to pass
While the hand dried as said, the other was buried as stated, first was the leg, second was his hand and the third was himself, all buried at various times at different locations
In addition, as this information of his dethronement was given to him in a meeting from where he was supposed to go back to Idah and prepare to leave the throne, he stopped on the way in another Igala land called Dekina

That was where he committed suicide

Before taking his life, he was allegedly quoted to have said that the town, Dekina will be popular but its development will not be as much as its popularity

Car Talk / The Man Tafa Balogun, How He Was Forced Out Of Police by In4mationplug(f): 11:58pm On Aug 05, 2022
Mustafa Adebayo Balogun was born 25 August 1947 in Ila Orangun, Ila Local Government Area of Osun State.

The former Police officer was widely known as Kumawu, and was appointed Inspector General of the Nigerian Police in March 2002.

He was the Inspector General of Police, IGP, between 2002 and 2005, before he was forced into submitting his letter of resignation to former President Olusegun Obasanjo because of widespread allegations of corruption against him.

Prior to that time, Balogun was police Commissioner in Delta, Rivers and Abia States, respectively. He was also an Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 1 Kano.

Shortly after his removal from office, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC under Nuhu Ribadu arraigned him on 70 count charges involving about N13 billion allegedly obtained through money laundering, theft and other sources.

As the case progressed in and out of court, he asked for plea bargain in exchange to return some money and property; nevertheless, he got six months sentence, the greatest part of which was spent on a sick bed at the National Hospital in Abuja.

Speaking about Balogun during his 80th birthday, Obasanjo who appointed him as IGP, disclosed that there was a particular day Nuhu Ribadu, then boss of EFCC, threatened to arrest Balogun in the Villa over reports of corruption both from DSS and EFCC.

Obasanjo said, “On a particular day, Balogun was in the Villa to see me; Ribadu was also around and threatened to arrest him over those reports. I had a hunch that Nuhu may leak the report to the press as he was close to them. I immediately called Balogun to give him his letter of resignation. I told him if I don’t get it within 30 minutes, I will sack him.”

That incident appeared to have put a final lid on the career of Balogun and since then, he has not been seen in any public outing again thereby prompting the question of where he could be at the moment.

Nairaland / General / The History Of Odumosa, The Powerful Hunter And Founder Of Erin-ile Kwara State by In4mationplug(f): 7:49am On Aug 04, 2022
THE HISTORY OF ODUMOSA, THE POWERFUL HUNTER AND FOUNDER OF ERIN-ILE KWARA STATE

Erin-ile, an old Yoruba town was established around 1225 AD for example more than 878 years prior. History of Erin-ile goes back to the verbose return of Oranyan from Edo nation after his red hot military campaigns against the Igbos who were then annoying that piece of Oduduwa's reality.

Erin-ile is probably the most established town in the old Oyun Local Government Area, including Offa. Erin-ile town was established about a similar time as Ipee and the limit between these two was before the coming of Offa town. Solid oral custom and serious research agreeably spin the authentic cause of Erin-ile around one famous regal sovereign of Ife called ODUMOSA.

He was known to be an eminent tracker and marksman, subsequently his name "APAAYAN", for example a marksman who was presumed for his best games. As the fore-name recommend, Odu-mosa was additionally a faithful religionist and a figuring chief. He was a shrewd executive and appealling character. He was the grandson of lord OBALUFON of Ife. OBALUFON is the contracted from the OBA ILU IFE for example (The ruler of Ile-Ife), and Olufon its short structure implies OLU-IFE for example (the ruler of Ife).

He was an acclaimed skilled worker and the first to acquaint metal works with Ife. He is as yet being exceptionally venerated for that important commitment. Ruler Obalufon was ruling when his nephew sovereign ORANMIYAN drove his arrangement of military undertakings to Benin. Ruler Obalufon later kicked the bucket and sovereign ORANMIYAN who was the beneficiary obvious didn't return in time from the war front. In his nonattendance, lord Obalufon's child ALAIYEMORE was designated and introduced as the following Ife ruler.

From that point, sovereign Oranmiyan surfaced suddenly to Ife. Frenzy held everybody inspired by a paranoid fear of what might and could be the response of such a fierce military legend to his life aspiration being so run by his counsin's climb to the seat which he (Oranmiyan) had constantly desired. In such a disrupted and unsure circumstance, ODUMOSA who was the immediate child of lord Alaiyemore thought of it as foothardy to sit tight in Ife for ORANMIYAN's response.

He immediately chose to stop Ife so as to get away from the conceivable anger of Oranmiyan. It was everybody's conviction that whoever incited Oranmiyan welcomed searing war. Odumosa set off with a huge unforeseen of devotees including his child ALAWODE AREBIOPE and his stepbrother, ruler ALAPA. He conveyed with him enough supplies of essential needs. he brought various valuable fortunes from the castle. Among such were beaded crowns, glorious clothing types, regal staff (EDAN OBALUFON), Obalufon's celebration silver crown, set of strung coral dots, the way of life of Obalufon, Ifa prophet, war types of gear, arms and ammo, (for games and self preservation) and a puzzling clarion horn for collecting his adherents at whatever point they dispersed looking for games and food or were abandoned. He depended particularly on the horn which he likewise used to give war or harmony signs and headings of next developments to his supporters.

Like patriarch Abraham of the Jewish history who on divine requests left his folks in the land Haran for an obscure goal. Odu-mosa left Ife on Ifa prophet's guidance for the open wide world without learning his genuine goal. He was a man of confidence, without a doubt a man of dauntless boldness, never terrified of slopes or wildernesses, dry land or overwhelmed planes. He continued endlessly nudging his contingents to walk and head quick in the opposite direction from a potential pursue by Oranmiyan. He told his kin "E RIN E RIN; E RIN" for example WALK FAST, WALK FAST, WALK FAST. The name ERIN was later suffixed with "ILE", which signifies the terminal finish of the trek on Ifa prophet's heading to frame the compound name ERIN-ILE.

After a long spell of meandering and meandering aimlessly before they arrived at that goal, they ended and rested in various spots, as ERINMO or ERIN-ITADOGUN for example an intersection place where they laid on seventeenth day of their trek and made places of arrangement fronds. A major market was set up at the intersection settlement. When Odumosa left, a portion of his devotees stayed behind and settled for all time in ERINMO. Other spot of visit included ERIN-OKE, ERIN-IJESHA, which are all now remarkable towns in Osun State. At Erin-ile, Odumosa met three trackers; Olowe, Afolumodi and Gbaagba, who received him as their first ruler when they was aware of his august status.

At a last visit before Erin-ile, Odumosa, Odumosa overlooked his clarion horn. When they returned for it, it had sunk and shimmering water, presently the stream Owo has begun spouting out of it. It was at this crossroads that his stepbrother, ruler Alapa isolated from him while Odumosa moved west ward, Alapa moved east ward. Alapa now settled Eku-Apa now in Irepodun LGA of Kwara State.

An a lot later settlement of Odumosa's replacements are Erin Papa, established on an open meadow by the thirteenth Elerin of Erin-Ile in rebellion of Alimi, the Fulani Jihadist. Erin Papa was found in Osun State and is presently called Erin – Osun. Around 1907, Elerin olaojo chose to profit to Erin-Ile for discontinuance of threats by the Jihadist. A few residents tailed him while some picked to remain. Erin_osun is likewise a major toen and she imparts close proclivity to Erin-ile. Indeed, the two towns are "twain" towns.

Aside from towns and settlements set up legitimately by Odumosa or his replacements, there are additionally families who have blood or social proclivity with Erin-Ile and are living in different networks. They can be perceived by their surname (oriki) regardless of whether they are in Ibadan, Abeokuta, Ilorin, Oshogbo, Ilesha, Ogbomoso or Offa. Such names incorporate, "More, Mosa" (from Alaiyemore and Odumosa), "Omo Elerin Mosa", "Omo Elewe Ladogba", "Omo Obalufon L'Erin", "Omo Abinuwole" alluding to Olowe who sank alive and "Omo Abiowe" again alluding to Olowe star war pioneer of Erin-Ile. Some outstanding Nigerians with such names incorporate Ali Agboguleri; Saka Pena, Adegoke Adelabu (Penkelemi) and Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe all in Ibadan, the balogun group of Iragbiji, the Duro Ladipo family in Oshogbo, the Ige family in Ijeshaland spreading to Ibadan, the Toki family in Offa and on the maternal side, the Olugbense imperial family in Offa and so forth.

By and by, Erin-Ile is in Oyun LGA of Kwara State and was the base camp of the Local Governement when it was first made in 1980. For odd reasons, the central command was moved when the Federal Military Government re-made the L.G.A. in 1990. Erin-Ile is on the southern-most edge of Kwara State and offers limits with Offa, Ilemona, Irra, Eku-Apa, Ipee, Igosun all in Kwara State and Oyan and Ila - Odo in Osun State. She is overhauled by current enhancements. A yearly celebration impossible to miss to her is the Obalufon celebration named after their begetter in Ile-Ife.

POLITICIAN
Bola Ahmed Tinubu aka Jagaban served as Senator for the Lagos West constituency in Lagos State, Nigeria in 1993, prior to a military take-over in December 1993. After the return to democracy, he was elected into office as the governor of Lagos State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007. He is the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) party with president Gen Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).

He began his political career in 1992, serving as the Nigerian Senate representing the Lagos West constituency in the short-lived Nigerian Third Republic. After the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election, Bola Tinubu founded National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) with some other Nigerians, a group that advocated for the restoration of democracy and recognition of the 12 June results. In the year 1994, Bola Tinubu went into exile and later came back in the year 1998 when Sani Abacha died.

ADEDUNTAN CONGRATULATES TINUBU OVER VICTORY, CHIDES APC NWC FOR FRAUDULENT PRIMARIES IN OYO STATE.

The osi Basorun of ibadan land and one of the six cleared governorship aspirants in oyo state Prince(DR) Azeez Popoola Adeduntan has congratulated Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his electoral success at the party primaries today.

Adeduntan in a statement by his media office and made available to newsmen in Ibadan, the state capital attributed Tinubu success to fly APC Presidential ticket to dedication, commitment and consistency.

He then observed with dismay and disgust why and how the NWC of APC that could conduct free fair and credible primary at the Presidential level allowed fraud and visible irregularities, alterations of delegates list and score allocations in oyo state during its governorship primary election.

He expressed surprise to how the exercise was characterised with impunity for which there are unassailable evidences as a witness of truth and complainant.

“While Adeduntan assures Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu of his fullest support and that of his supporters, those who reaped the dividends of fraudulent electoral process in Oyo state are going nowhere,as those who sow the wind, shall reap the whirlwind in Oyo state at the general elections.

” While we continue to preserve all our options, I would like to congratulate the 13 APC northern governors led BY Governor Bagudu of Kebbi state and El-Rufai of kaduna state for making sure that APC Zoned the presidency to the south.

By their actions, they have promoted Nigerian unity and made it difficult for agents of disunity to succeed in their secession bids.”

“He also congratulated President BUHARI for ensuring a free, fair and credible primary at the presidential level,
devoid of manipulation and imposition contrary to the wishes of anti democratic forces in the APC.

As for Oyo State there was no primary at any level ,but fraud and sham-Justice shall “reign” and rain heavily during and before the elections since GOD IS GOD OF JUSTICE-as evil (pyrrhic victory) cannot succeed over good in the long run, the statement affirmed.

Dr Hazeem Gbolarumi, the only governorship aspirant who contested against Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State for the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship ticket, tells OLUFEMI OLANIYI, in this interview that the exercise where the governor won a second term ticket was a charade

Why did you decide to challenge Makinde in the governorship primary election?

I did that because I am eminently qualified to contest the position and to occupy the governor’s seat. If you look at the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State, many of the key members who have been there since the party was established years back have left for an obvious reason.

What is that reason?

They all believe in the supremacy of the party. They believe that the party is bigger than any individual no matter the person’s position or status and that is how it is supposed to be. They also believe that impunity must stop and as far as I am concerned, I decided to contest to make the needed difference. I want the people of Oyo State and the party to have a different leadership and a better approach to governance.

Were you confident of winning the contest?

I was very confident of winning. I am still confident that I will win if the exercise is free and fair.

You complained before voting started that your delegates were chased away by hoodlums. How did that happen?

You all know. Were you not present when armed thugs were attacking my delegates and chasing them out in the presence of security men? You just want me to talk. But I will tell you again. We mobilised our authentic delegates and we were together. But they brought some people who were not delegates to come and vote. By the time the genuine delegates arrived at the venue, we saw armed thugs, motor park thugs and they attacked our delegates. The attack was brutal and over 90 of our delegates are still in the hospital. The hoodlums were shooting everywhere and the policemen were there. They even attacked a police officer there, an Assistant Superintendent of Police. You can imagine that kind of situation. But that is unfair. They know if we were to conduct a peaceful and credible election, I would win the contest. So, what happened was that only Seyi Makinde did the primary and defeated himself. That was what happened and everybody saw it. They can’t match us in a free and fair election and they know it.

Has the governor reached out to you after the primary election?

He has called me. We spoke as brothers and members of the same family. We are brothers, there is no enmity between us. Everything is just about politics and politics is a game of interests. What happened did not mean we would be at war. He is my good brother.

What did he promise you when he called after the exercise?

Did he need to promise me anything? No. We just talked like friends. That was not the first time he would call me. Whenever he called, we talked as friends. He has been calling me before now and I have been calling him.

Did he ask for your support?

Must he ask me to support him? Everybody knows that I will work for the party. I am a loyal party man and I will do everything to ensure the success of the PDP.

You and some aggrieved members of the PDP said Makinde did not do well at all before and some left the PDP. What really did he do wrong?

You know that already. They complained against the leadership style of Seyi Makinde. They were not happy with the way they were treated. Why should the governor neglect party faithful and be giving audience to those who are non-members? If he is looking for technocrats to assist his there are a lot of technocrats within the party. We have engineers, doctors, lawyers, accountants and so many other professionals who are very good within the party. Why must you bring outsiders on board after some set of people helped you to win?

It is not fair and it won’t help the party. The outsiders he brought do not know what is happening in their constituencies and these people at the grassroots are the ones the party would run to when elections come. That was why we were complaining. They complained to the headquarters of the party and they intervened. But he did not change; he feels he is the governor and he can do anything.

We have all accepted him as our leader in the party based on our party’s constitution. He must reciprocate by accepting to work with us. He can’t do it alone. He cannot run the party as if it is his private business, it will not work. Those ones could no longer stomach that and they left but I said if they were going, I would not leave the PDP for anybody. I was ready to be the only one left. Those who left have very good reasons for leaving. We all made him the governor with the coalition, so why must he treat us that way? They are not asking him to give them money but they want recognition, which is normal. So, they left because they were not recognised and they felt they should go to where they would be celebrated. If you were in their shoes, would you not do the same thing?

You complained that your delegates were attacked and chased out of the venue before voting started during the primary election. Are you considering leaving the party as others did?

I will never leave the party. I have never defected from the PDP since its inception and I will not leave the party. I don’t do that. This party made me what I am.

Will you seek redress in court?

I don’t need to do that. I will consult with the leaders and elders of the party to know what to do next. I believe in collegiate leadership. The leaders and elders of the party will tell us where we will go and what will happen next but I will not leave the party.

Will the exit of notable leaders of the PDP not have a negative effect on the party in the 2023 elections?

I know with time, that will be addressed. This is the party they all laboured to build and I believe they will not allow it to be destroyed.

That means you are still working to bring them back to the party?

Of course, yes. What are they doing in the party they are at now? They are not doing anything there. They have nothing to gain there but they wanted to prove to the governor that he cannot do it alone. Yes, he cannot do it alone. We have to work together to succeed because everybody is tired of the APC. We will look at it to see what we can do to salvage the situation before the coming general elections.

Do you think the PDP can retain Oyo State in 2023?

Definitely, the PDP will win in Oyo in 2023. Nobody will vote for any other political party aside from the PDP in Oyo State in 2023. Although I may not be able to say who the standard-bearer of the PDP will be in the election.

But the governor has won the second term ticket. So, who else do you think will be the standard-bearer if not the winner?

That is according to you.

Are you saying this can still change?

From what you people saw, will you describe that as a credible primary election? Was that done according to the provisions of the Electoral Act?

So, you are saying that the PDP has not got a candidate yet for the 2023 governorship election in Oyo State?

Of course, yes. That was a kangaroo primary election.

Does it mean the party can order that the primary election should be conducted afresh?

Anything can happen. I am not God but I know that was not the best primary the party could conduct. If the authentic delegates were not used or the genuine delegates were not allowed to vote in a primary election, will you say that is valid? So. Why are we just deceiving ourselves? Except we find a political solution to it.

Everything is not about going to court, I am a lawyer. Before you approach the court, I believe you must have explored alternative dispute resolution before seeking redress in court. I believe the party will surely do that in due course.

So, Makinde’s supporters who were jubilating after the poll should not jubilate yet?

Who are his supporters? Are they not supporting the PDP? They should continue because everybody is jubilating. We are all jubilating. His supporters and my supporters and others are doing so for the PDP because we are one when it’s time for the election proper. But the governor should do the needful and I am sure he will do the needful.

What do you mean by doing the needful?

He knows what to do concerning these leaders who have defected from the party. He can’t do it alone; they should be brought back to support the party. They should be carried along if the party wants to win. What I mean by the needful is that he should look at the coalition as well and find one way or the other to accommodate everybody.

But many of the coalition key members have gone back to the APC where they came from.

Are you sure they are satisfied with where they have returned to? Have they given them what they want?

They can still come back to the PDP when the governor does what he should do.

I HAVE ANOINTED NO ONE, THERE SHALL BE NO IMPOSITION, SAYS PRESIDENT BUHARI

President Muhammadu Buhari, Monday afternoon cleared all doubts about where he stands on the choice of a presidential candidate for the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, declaring before the party’s 14 governors of northern states that he has “no preferred candidate," and has "anointed no one,” and is determined to ensure that “there shall be no imposition of any candidate on the party.”

The President said he had a clear mind about what he was doing and asked the APC governors to feel the same way: “You were elected as I was. Have a clear mind as I have. God gave us the chance; we have no reason to complain. We must be ready to take pain as we take the joy. Allow the delegates to decide. The Party must participate, nobody will appoint anybody.”

Earlier in their addresses, the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, Governor Simon Bako Lalong and Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of the Progressive Governors Forum, said they had come to affirm the position of the Northern Governors that the party’s candidate in the presidential election shall come from the southern part of the country.

They apologised to the President for the leakage of their signed memorandum which was not in support of any particular candidate and gave assurances to the President on their readiness to accept his leadership on the matter.

Politics / OYO 2023 : Opposition May Have Easy Ride To Power Ruling Party PDP. by In4mationplug(f): 3:45am On Jun 06, 2022
opposition may have easy ride to power as Oyo PDP primaries is marred with controversy and litigations.

Prior to the elections/ Political Parties problems arose with the political electoral framework and
undermined confidence in the process. Other serious concerns were the high
incidence of violence and forcefully enforcement in the pre-election period, especially during the party
primaries, and shortcomings in the delegates process, These problems helped create an unstable climate for the Elections and Political Party's .
inefficiencies, irregularities that evolved
during the said PDP Primary brought injustice , predictions of violence and odd results leaving the main recognized party members and delegates yet to accept the results. Because of
these problems it is difficult to say whether PDP is measuring up to the standards
of democratic consolidation commonly used to wining in the general election but to fall to opposition party .

However, overall disqualifications as aggrieved aspirant jointly sue authenticity of the primary elections.

The party men are also seeking an injunction restraining PDP and INEC from using and/or utilizing any other list of Ad-Hoc and National Delegates for the nomination of candidates into various elective positions at the 2023 general election in Oyo State other than the rightful list of Ad-Hoc and National Delegates which emanated from Ward and Local Government Area Congresses conducted on the 30 April 2022 and 10th May 2022 in Oyo State in compliance with the provisions of Electoral Act, PDP’s Constitution as well as its Guidelines.

It was also recorded in some publications that some Plaintiffs in the suit are Hon. Taofeef Abiola, Niyi Aborisade(a lawyer), Hon. Taiwo Jimoh, Sakiru Olaide Raheem, Akande Olalekan, Jelil Azeez, Ayoade Olusegun and Anifowoshe Dayo James.

This is a call to discuss and actions to keep the Party Environment Clean by simply heed to the wants of the aggrieved Aspirants to perfect the party weak internal democratic processes to secure any form of defections leading to oppositional victory. Party Primary were basically closed affairs and it will be a contentious only if structural Adjustment is set in .
Remember , Alex Ekwueme, who
challenged Obasanjo for the PDP presidential nomination. Ekwueme, the former
vice-president in the Second Republic, was defeated in the primaries, receiving
only 17 per cent of the vote of the party’s 3000 delegates. Ekwueme took his
grievances to the courts, where his case stumbled. But the PDP was deprived of
the compelling image of legitimacy that its 1999 primaries had enjoyed when, after
losing, Ekwueme raised Obasanjo’s arm in a show of solidarity. This time, after
losing the 2003 primaries, Ekwueme withdrew and other influential PDP officials
joined other parties ( 2003). Perhaps the most dramatic
evidence of disillusionment within the PDP was the unusual, if not bizarre, defection from the party in December and January of ten senators and representatives, within
a one-month period and with the presidential election not far off. The former
Deputy Senate President, Haruna Abubakar, led 65 gubernatorial primary
candidates in rebellion against the PDP leadership. When the protest failed, he
and many others went to court and then opened discussions with the ANPP (January 2003).

Crime / Lighthouse Pathfinders Awareness Club Condemns The Attack On St Francis Chrh Owo by In4mationplug(f): 9:20pm On Jun 05, 2022
Lighthouse Pathfinders Awareness Club condemns the attack on saint francis catholic church, OWO, and call for decentralisation of the nigeria police.

Lighthouse Pathfinders Awareness club condemns, in strong terms, the dastardly murder, Today, Sunday, 5th June, 2022, of some innocent worshippers at Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo state, by yet to be identified killers. This is one killing, too many in our country; and goes to further confirm the precarious state of the security of lives and property of Nigerians in their fatherland.

While praying that God accept the repose of the dead, we sympathise and commiserate with their families, the Catholic Church family, Ondo State government, people of Owo in particular, and those of Ondo state in general.

We also emphatise with the injured and wish them all a very quick recovery. We call on good spirited Nigerians, and particularly the government of Ondo State, under the leadership of Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, to donate generously to the management of Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, to allow it offer the necessary assistance to the families of the injured to cover their medical bills. We also implore healthy residents of the state to donate blood to the management of the hospital where these injured Nigerians are being treated, to aid those that may be in dare need blood transfusion.

While calling on these evil minded perpetrators and others like them, that may be contemplating such heinous crime in the future to desist, we hasten to call on the government of Nigeria, superintended over by H.E. Mohammadu Buhari to bring the perpetrators to book and restructure our security architecture to be more intelligence driven, so as to nip such attack as this in bud before it happens. For now, it is obvious that our security network is deficient in its duty of competently protecting Nigerians.

We therefore suggest that the country's policing system be decentralised to allow for better efficiency and efficacy.

Politics / INSIDE APC ‘why Buhari Won’t Back Bola Tinubu, Preparing Amaechi/lawan Ticket by In4mationplug(f): 7:13pm On Jun 05, 2022
Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido has said President Muhammadu Buhari will not support the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Lamido, who earlier served in the Olusegun Obasanjo administration as Minister of Foreign Affairs, said he foresees the emergence of Senate President Ahman Lawan and former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He however stated that only Tinubu can give his party a fight for its money.

Lamido, a former governor of  Jigawa State, said: “Right now, Tinubu is going through hell from who? His own fellow brothers in Afenifere  who openly don’t like him and also the APC governors who don’t like him because they say he is too domineering and a dictator. I mean, he is their own son, why can’t they make him?

“Mark my words, Buhari will never ever support Tinubu. I know the man’s mentality and psychology. He will never ever support Tinubu. I said it but people didn’t believe me but wait and see. The whole thing is not about Tinubu or about any other interest. It is not even about the bigger picture called Nigeria but other interests. There is no way Buhari is going to support Tinubu, because the whole thing is going to take personal dimension.

"Let us be honest, Tinubu today is swimming alone. Look at the phenomenon he was but they are now saying no to him.

“If the South is ready to win this election, the only candidate that can give the PDP  a  fight for their money is Tinubu. He has goodwill. He has a political family. In Nigeria today, even if it (APC ticket) not given to him, he will still win election because Nigeria wants anything except Buhari.

“I said Buhari will not give Tinubu, he is trying to pair Amaechi and Lawan.

“So I foresee a palace coup”

Politics / Oyo 2023: PDP Risk Disqualification. by In4mationplug(f): 12:24pm On Jun 05, 2022
PDP risk over all disqualification as crisis rocking the rulling party took a dangerous dimenssion.

All is not well in the Oyo state rulling party is engulved in wide spread accusations and counter accusation resulting from the contriversial primary election held in the state and this has agravated to joint litigation by aggrieved Aspirants.
In the suit, the plaintiffs are asking the court for “a declaration that having regards to the combined provisions of Section 84(cool of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended), Sections 15(2)(e) and 18(2)(c) of the PDP’s Constitution and the Guidelines for Ward, Local Government Area, State, Zonal Congresses and the National Convention of the party, the Defendants are statutorily bound to accord recognition to, act on and/or deal with the list of Ad-Hoc and National Delegates elected at the Ward and Local Government Area
Congresses conducted in Oyo State on 30th April 2022 and 10th May 2022 respectively for the nomination of candidates for 2023 general elections in the state”.

My Deeply latched concern is the Impact of Failure Is awaiting as the nomination of candidates for the 2023 General Elections in Oyo State are illegal and unconstitutional, having not emanated from the Ward Congress conducted on April 30, 2022, in Oyo State”.

In an affidavit filed in support of the suit and deposed to by one of the Applicants, Taofeef Abiola, they claimed that they are card-carrying members of the PDP in Oyo State and as aspirants who participated and contested for the various elective positions in the Oyo State Chapter of the party.
They also maintained that having complied with the combined provisions of Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), the Constitution of the PDP, the Guidelines for Ward, Local Government Area, State, Zonal Congresses and the National Convention of the PDP, the lists of Ad-Hoc and National Delegates elected through the Ward and Local Government Area Congresses held on said April 30, 2022, and May 10, 2022, respectively in Oyo State and no other lists of delegates should to be Affirmed recognition as the authentic and lawfully elected delegates of the PDP in Oyo State by the INEC are legitimate for nominations of candidates at the 2023 General Election in Oyo State.

Notwithstanding , I Stand to understand and Appreciate the fact that it is the Prerogative Members and Wanted Aspirants are seeing what we are seeing for the Party Grater Height (Wining) , However, I want the State Government And faction Party Leaders to be neutral and be wary of their decision that will give the impression that they are favouring or endorsing one candidate over the other is a total failure and downfall for the party in the forthcoming general election.
In A Nutshell, It was said "That at the said primaries, the authentic Ad-hoc Delegates who could have voted Legitimately were severally beaten and injured by thugs sponsored by the said minority group who was behind the manipulation of the lists in question”.

Inconclussion , It's an Interesting Political Period , I Honorarily Admonished the court of Law diplomatic responsibilities to set aside all the PDP Primary Election In the State .

Politics / OYO PDP : Court To Nullify All PDP Primaries In Oyo State state by In4mationplug(f): 3:06pm On Jun 04, 2022
Some aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State have asked the Federal High Court in Ibadan to nullify all State House of Assembly, Governorship, House of Representatives and Senatorial District Primaries conducted in the state.

Through their counsel, Tunde Falola, the eight aspirants are urging the court to set aside the PDP Primaries conducted on May 21st, 22nd and May 23, 2022, in Oyo State, because they were allegedly conducted in flagrant violation of the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended), the PDP’s Constitution as well as its Guidelines.

The politicians are also seeking an injunction restraining PDP and INEC from using and/or utilizing any other list of Ad-Hoc and National Delegates for the nomination of candidates into various elective positions at the 2023 general election in Oyo State other than the list of Ad-Hoc and National Delegates which emanated from Ward and Local Government Area Congresses conducted on the 30 April 2022 and 10th May 2022 in Oyo State in compliance with the provisions of Electoral Act, PDP’s Constitution as well as its Guidelines.

The Plaintiffs in the suit are Hon. Taofeef Abiola, Niyi Aborisade(a lawyer), Hon. Taiwo Jimoh, Sakiru Olaide Raheem, Akande Olalekan, Jelil Azeez, Ayoade Olusegun and Anifowoshe Dayo James.

The PDP & the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are joined as respondents to the suit

They further urged the court “to declare that the purported lists of Ad-hoc delegates used for the conduct of State House of Assembly, Governorship, House of Representatives and Senatorial District Primaries on May 21st, 2022, May 25th, 2022, May 22nd, 2022 and May 23rd, 2022 for the nomination of candidates for the 2023 General Elections in Oyo State are illegal and unconstitutional, having not emanated from the Ward Congress conducted on April 30, 2022, in Oyo State”.

In an affidavit filed in support of the suit and deposed to by one of the Applicants, Taofeef Abiola, they claimed that they are card-carrying members of the PDP in Oyo State and as aspirants who participated and contested for the various elective positions in the Oyo State Chapter of the party.
They also maintained that having complied with the combined provisions of Electoral Act 2022 (as amended), the Constitution of the PDP, the Guidelines for Ward, Local Government Area, State, Zonal Congresses and the National Convention of the PDP, the lists of Ad-Hoc and National Delegates elected through the Ward and Local Government Area Congresses held on said April 30, 2022, and May 10, 2022, respectively in Oyo State and no other lists of delegates ought to be accorded recognition as the authentic and lawfully elected delegates of the PDP in Oyo State by the INEC for nominations of candidates at the 2023 General Election in Oyo State.

“That in preparation for the 2023 General Election, the second Defendant (PDP) released and published the Time-Table and Schedule of Activities for its Ward, Local Government Area and the National Convention, to elect party Ad-Hoc and National Delegates”.
“That under the above, the second Defendant also adopted its January 2020 Guidelines for the Conduct of the said Ward, Local Government Area, State, Zonal Congresses and the National Convention”.

“That in line with the party’s already published Time-Table referred to in paragraph 9 above and under the Provision of Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended) and the second Defendant’s Constitution, the second Defendant Conducted its Ward Congresses in Oyo State on April 30, 2022, and Three AD-HOC Ward Delegates were elected from each of the Wards in the State”.

“That contrary to the aforementioned directive by the second Defendant and in sharp contravention of the provision of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended) and the 2nd Defendant’s Constitution, a minority group within the second Defendant Party in Oyo State who did not participate at the said Ward and Local Government Area Congresses have connived with some Elements and National officers of the second Defendant and perfected, planned and jettisoned the authentic and legally recognisable list of delegates emanating from the said Ward and Local Government Area Congresses”.

“That notwithstanding our protest also, the 2nd Defendant’s Agents who conducted the primaries insisted and went on with the purported primaries”.

“That at the said primaries also, the authentic Ad-hoc Delegates who could have voted for me as well as other Plaintiffs were severally beaten and injured by the thugs sponsored by the said minority group within the 2nd Defendant, who was behind the manipulation of the lists in question”.

The court is yet to fix a date for the hearing of the suit.

I learnt something recently when Asiwaju visited Ondo.
I nearly cried! Of all his disciples, nobody, I mean no ONE gave Asiwaju such a presidential treatment Akeredolu gave him. The same Akeredolu he fought tooth and nail, and opposed during his first election, while fronting Sola Oke.
Who could have thought it’s Arakunrin that will now stand by him?
This is life!

For many years, many of these betrayals today have been nursing grudges against Asiwaju, over stepping on their rights and overriding their esteems. But then, they had no power to talk. The few that talked disappeared from limelight and politics.

Car Talk / The Osogbo War Of 1840 by In4mationplug(f): 4:06pm On Apr 23, 2022
After the Fulanis systematically captured and made Ilorin their territory, they sacked the old Oyo Empire in 1835/1636 .

They were still not satisfied with their victory; they wished to extend their rule deep into the heart of Yoruba land. Thus in 1840, they set to capture Osogbo , a Yoruba town. The Fulanis, under the command of Ali , the Hausa balogun of Ilorin, laid siege on Osogbo.

When the king of Osogbo realized that the Ilorins were too strong for the Osogbo army, he summoned the Ibadans for help. Ibadan immediately sent some auxiliaries to Osogbo under the command of Obele alias Mobitan , and Alade Abimpagun. As this force could not stop the Ilorins, another contingent was sent to Osogbo under a more experienced leader. But still the Ilorins won every battle and gained more ground.

When Ibadan realized that the Ilorins were becoming more threatening to Yoruba land, they sent a large and stronger force under Balogun Oderinlo to crush the intruding forces and Jammas of Ilorin . When Oderinlo and his men arrived at the battlefield, they realized that things had gone worse than they thought.

They could not show their faces in the open field for the fear of the Ilorin horses, and for about 20 days after their arrival at Osogbo, they could not fight outside the town thickets. Oderinlo suggested that Elepo, a brave Ibadan warrior was badly needed at the war-front. Elepo had been rejected by the war-chiefs of Ibadan for his actions at the late Agbamaja expedition.

As soon as the message from Oderinlo reached Ibadan, the Bashorun wished he could send Elepo to Osogbo but could not go against the wish of other war-chiefs. The Bashorun gave Elepo a cow to worship his god, Ori , and pray for the victory of Ibadan at the war-front.

At the war-front, the Ibadan could not attack the Ilorins during the day because Osogbo was practically in a plain and the Ilorin horses might have advantage of them with disastrous results.

They decided to attack at dusk when the Ilorins would no longer be able to use their horses. About 2:pm, the well prepared Ibadan army left the gate of Osogbo for the battlefield. They were to keep a strict watch and arrest anyone suspected to be a spy.

About a mile from the Ilorin camp, they halted and arranged the order of the attack.

The Osogbo army and the earlier auxiliaries were to handle the center of the battlefield, chiefs Abitiko and Labuju were to command the right wing, Balogun Oderinlo with the rest of the Ibadan war-chiefs were to form the left wing of the army. The Ilorin camp was then attacked at midnight. The watchword was “ Elo ni owo odo? ” (How much is the ferry fare?).

The reason this watchword was chosen was because the river Osun had to be crossed in entering Osogbo from the south, and anyone who could not tell this was likely to be an enemy.

Stampede engulfed the Ilorin camp as the Ibadan army set it on fire. The Ilorins could not offer the slightest resistance; they were smoked with the gunpowder of the Ibadan guns.

This attack was a success for the Ibadan. Some Ilorin war-chiefs were captured in the attack. Prominent ones were:
1. Jimba the head slave of the Emir;
2. One of the sons of Ali the commander in chief;
3. Chief Lateju;
4. Ajikobo the Yoruba Balogun of Ilorin.
The first two were released while the latter two, being Yoruba by birth, were regarded as traitors and were executed. This was a huge victory for the whole of Yoruba land.

After the Osogbo victory,
Ibokun, an Ijesa town not far from Osogbo was taken by the Ibadans for being an ally of Ilorin.
After this war, Ìbàdàn later became a force building a formidable war machinery than later prosecuted many other wars with resounding victory.

Notable among the wars was the KIRIJI WAR where the Ibadan warlords formed a historic alliance with the Igbajos. Even though Igbajo became the war front for many years that the war lasted, it was never captured by the raging Ekiti parapò warriors. Rather it was a place where many of them met their Waterloo.

Notable among the warriors were Fabunmi Okeemesi, Ogedengbe Agbogun gboro of the Ijesas, Apasikoto pasigegele of Igbajo and Latoosa of Ibadan to mention a few. There were many more great warriors of the time.
It's worthy to note that the KIRIJI WAR was the last war in Yoruba land. It's also recorded as the longest native war between in Africa.
Since then the Yoruba people have continued to build strong bonds among themselves and they have sustained the peace.

We must continue to tell our children the history of the Yoruba people and the bond which our father had built so that we can continue to see ourselves as one. If the Ibadan people can sacrifice their lives for the people of Osogbo in other to safe other towns and villages in Yoruba land and in essence the carnage of innocent people were prevented, then, we the modern Yorubas have no reason to divide ourselves for political reasons or any reason at all.

Crime / The Biggest Scam In Nigeria ? by In4mationplug(f): 5:40pm On Apr 21, 2022
You Bought , A Pole, You Bought The Cable & You Bought The Meter. And You Contributed Money To Buy Or Replace The Community Transformer.

As Soon As You Have Done All These, They Automatically Become Their Property.

Then The Fraudster Electricity Distribution Companies Will, Without Taking The Meter Reading, Send Outrageous Estimated Bills To You For Power Never Consumed. And If You Dare Raise A Question Against Their Barefaced Robbery, They Will Come And Remove The Cable You Bought With Your Money As Their Property.

Then You Will Be Charged What They Call Re-connection Fee To Get Your Cable Fixed Back.

And You Will Have To Bribe Their Personnel To replace A melted Fuse Or You Will Remain Perpetually In Darkness And Still Pay The Bill At The End Of The Month.

The Most Heinous Part Of Their Corporate Crime Against The People Is The Revenue Target They Set For Their Personnel As To How Much They Intend To Rob Nigerians Every Month.

Let this post go round, this daylight robbery from Electricity Distribution Companies Must Stop.
