I meant to say, I didn't apply for mbbs which was the norm for every 'bright' science student in my locality. I opted for Engineering (I prefer calculations to reading/cramming words)

God WHY??!!! You're the tenth geographer I'm seeing on NL and all of them are complaining about the same thing....

I'm a die-hard fan/lover of geography, like I have so much passion for that shit (I don't know why, plus I love Graphics Design too, I currently do the latter)

I have been planning to take Jamb nxt year, but seeing the way all geographers are complaining...

Should I just leave it and go learn graphics design from a computer school?
if you can settle for teaching if white collar job doesn't come, then apply for your geography

Whitetalker:

He did not exaggerate it. The only thing he did was not making his opinion clearer.
So this is how it goes to the best of my knowledge: UNN actually does the each state representation pattern he mentioned above. You are likely to find at least 5 persons from each state in a department like medicine. Let's take an example that the mbbs cutoff mark is 325. Then for instance if the highest score of an mbbs aspirant from a state like Edo is 300, you will find some other persons from that state get admitted with scores like 295, 290, 285 until the required number of student allocated to the state is complete.
The reason why most igbos are admitted and still find it difficult to get admitted is that a a lot of applicants come from that region. While 20 students might be fighting for a spot from Osun state, 1,500 students from Imo will be fighting for a slot on merit. So you don't except a candidate with 300 from Imo to get admitted but a candidate from kaduna with such score will get in with ease.
I'm not saying it is a good method but this is how it is done for MERIT admission. Once you miss a slot here, connections and the likes massively come into play.
All in all it is easier to get admitted into UNN mbbs when you are from states like Edo, Delta, Crossriver, Akwa ibom, kano etc than it is with Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, Imo and the likes. Major reason why a trend now in UNN is to change one's state of origin.

It's isn't fair but the system is already twisted.
We can't play dumb and sacrifice our dreams. Everyone needs to get smart. I wish all aspirants the best this season. God help you all. Good luck.
oh! I now get the logic

Why can't those marks get an Igbo admission in UNN
he's actually exxagerating it. The reason is, the school's cut off mark for Educationally Less Developed states (ELDs) is lower than that of merit and catchment but in reality UNN is an Igbo school(in that they admit more igbos)
Education / Re: Why Do This Happen Much In Nigerian Universities??? by InansBobo(m): 9:02pm On Sep 14, 2019
Genesiszero:
I have been observing these for a long time now that its sometimes seems mysterious to me.

Why do Nigerian universities often changes Someone else's course of application ? I have seen people with higher jamb scores and amazing post Utme score and good O level result and yet, they end up being admitted to a different course.

I had a neighbor who was good in science, I mean extremely good in science subjects, he wrote jamb and hit extremely above his course requirement by far, he floored his O level result, he wanted studying mechanical engineering. He's so good with machines that I sometimes watch him do crazy things.... He wanted nurturing that talent by applying an engineering course only to be given "ADULT EDUCATION"

He has been at home for about 3 years now, he will write jamb and hit the point, post utme and hit the point and still yet no admission!

He even told me that he saw someone with a lesser mark and was admitted in mechanical engineering.... And most of then are actually not with so much higher point but was still admitted to mech engineering.....

As a person I think we would academically perform best if given opportunities to be in our dream course as the love and passion for it has been there......

I don't see this common in UK or US Universities.

Why is this so common in Nigerian universities?
tell him to choose Futminna mechanical engineering and score 240+ in jamb and 230+ in post utme. Thank me later

pls, can anyone tell if we are to go with original jamb result
these are the things you need
1. Waec/Neco/nabteb result printed from the website (not original oo)
2. Jamb original result (not the white one oo) , the one showing your passport and that you will pay at least N1200 to print
3. Post utme reg form

But don't worry, even if you don't have any of the above, with money, u can still print them all online in minna

For real?
yes. the gap to fit in to 2.1 on 5 point is wider (3.5-4.49 while 4point system is just 3.0-3.49).
Secondly, 3.91(upper) in 5point is equal to 2.9 (lower) in 4 point.

Its actually possible except your previous input is your best. Try and get 4 point at least this second semester- it will boost you then keep on be getting at least 3.8gpa in consequent levels.
Education / Re: What Are My Chances Of Graduating With A 2.1? by InansBobo(m): 8:00pm On Aug 30, 2019
It's possible. Although your course of study and institution can still determine how easy it can be or how hard...

What !!!! $61K for a school in NY per yr, In state or Out of state fees. I paid in state within Georgia University System of $9K including lodging Tuition and meal plan per semester for my son. First year student has to live on campus but by year two I paid $1850 in tuition per semester depending on the number of credit hours you are taking. People you have to do your homework. I figure total outlay for the whole 4 yrs will run about $60k. Once you child is over 20 let your child do the registration remove yourself that way he can qualify for Pell Grant of $2500 free per year. That is $10K right there.
you got my reply wrong. I mistakenly wrote 'NY' instead of 'my'.
I was actually talking about a local university here in 9ja

I disagree; even college of education sef pass 300k.. you never add transportation n project. Reason am na
you can't say he's lieing. And cost of an institution doesn't depend on whether uni or poly or coe.
In NY school year ones fee is 61k, the rest years is 28k (all paid annually). For a five years course, it would total 173k. Hostel accommodation is 12k (times five years is 60k). Bringing the total to 233k for the school throughout the school year. Pocket money and transportation is not part of tuition and is personal

I believe the scriptures, I believe in Christ and I believe this teachings of Adeboye. If we are truly Christians are we not to follow examples of Jesus? If Christ baptized by immersion, why will some choose to baptize by sprinkling of water with out no just cause, if Christ took communion in the evening, why will some choose to take it in the morning? Are they claiming they know more than Christ?
if Christ took communion about a particular time of the year, why do you now take it weekly?

What's the meaning of the word "supper"? Google would assist you. Jesus said do this in remembrance of me. Supper means dinner and not breakfast or lunch meal. Lots of people have turned the bible upside down and many people are just following the confused bible twisters like mumu. If Jesus could instruct followers after taking the last meal with his disciples which He called supper and asked them to do it in remembrance of Him, and some denominations would change the instruction by taking a supper(dinner) in the morning or at noon, then it calls for a concern in the christendom. I feel sorry for people like you who, instead of pondering on such an important issue , would rather prefer to attack the man of God for trying to correct some mistakes made by millions globally.
in that case, we should all just wait till that particular time of the year to take the communion then. That is, once in a year before that Easter period

In my calculations 320 is better than 313 and it also depends on the grades of other applicants that year. Please let us know about the university in your state and whether they admit candidates from all states of the country. You can give us the percentages.
yes it is but you can't tell me the least they admitted that year was 314 score and the guy I'm talking about is from a catchment state also. I won't argue the secularism of the school but I'll only say their admission process is bias for top notch courses
