The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has commenced the enlistment of graduates and post-graduates for training into its Direct Short Service Cadets (DSSC) 2018.
NAF stated that interested persons who wish to apply must be Nigerians not less than 1.66m tall for male and not less than 1.63m tall for female.
In a statement on its official Twitter handle, the Force said applicants should be between 22 and 30 years by 30 September 2019 (22-35 for consultants).
Air Force stated that those interested must possess a bachelor’s degree with a second class upper division or HND with upper credit in the following fields as stated below.

Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho, has confirmed that defender, Marcos Rojo, midfielder, Ander Herrera and forward, Jesse Lingard will not play against Newcastle United on Saturday in the Premier League.
Rojo is yet to feature in the United first team this season after picking up an injury while away with Argentina at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in the summer. He suffered a minor setback after making his return with the U23 earlier this month.
Lingard missed United’s goalless draw with Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday with a minor injury, while Hererra is also injured.
Asked whether the trio could return against Newcastle, Mourinho said on Friday morning as quoted by Metro UK: “No, it’s exactly the same [squad].
“No new injuries and the players who were injured [are still out] with the possibility of Ashley Young coming back… but his problem was really minor.”
He added, “[We have had] recovering time for the players that played against Valencia and good work for the others that obviously were in perfect condition to train,”.

Sen. Ayo Akinyelure has emerged as the senatorial candidate that will fly the Peoples Democratic Party’s, PDP, flag for the Ondo Central Senatorial District during the 2019 general elections.
In the keenly contested primary election that saw the emergence of Sen. Akinyelure, delegates across the wards of the six local government (Ondo West, Ondo East, Akure North, Akure South, Ifedore and Idanre) that made up the senatorial district in their larger trooped to the venues of the election to vote for their preferred as aspirant through an indirect method.
Sen. Akinyelure, polled a total of 338 votes to emerged victorious while his closest rival, the former deputy governor of the state, Omolade Oluwateru (Akure South local government) garnered 253 votes, with the third aspirant Olabisi Johnson (Ondo West local government) securing 63 votes. The party’s electoral officer, Bamido Omogbehin, who announced the result stated that a total of 657 was recorded with 3 void votes.
The primary election which was conducted in Akure, the Ondo State capital was witnessed by observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the national body of the party as well as security operatives.
Sen. Akinyelure, who represented the senatorial district in the upper chamber of the National Assembly on the PDP platform from 2012 to 2015, will be facing other senatorial candidates, at the next year’s polls, particularly the incumbent, senator, Tayo Alasoadura of the APC who defeated him in 2015.
After he lost the election to Sen. Alasoadura in 2015, Akinyelure defected to the APC before returning to the PDP some months back after resigning his appointment as the Chairman of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu has broken his silence after he was declared winner of Tuesday’s Lagos governorship primary conducted by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sanwo-Olu was announced winner of the Lagos governorship primaries, against the wishes of the National Working Committee (NWC).

APC chairman in Lagos, Tunji Balogun, announced that incumbent, Akinwunmi Ambode polled 72,901 votes, while Sanwo-Olu got 970,851 votes.

In a statement signed by the Director General, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Campaign Organisation (BOSCO), Tayo Ayinde, Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to all who voted for him.

“We hereby hereby unreservedly express our gratitude to our faithful members for the loyalty, commitments and determination to our great party by participating in the direct gubernatorial primary election in Lagos State on the 2nd of October 2018.

About 324,000 applicants nationwide have commenced screening exercise for 4,000 job spaces in the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

Speaking yesterday during an assessment tour to the screening centres in Abuja, Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi said the 4000 vacancies are made available for the officer cadre.

He said 3200 vacancies were made available for Road Marshal assistants while 1,000 vacancies were made available for Marshal Inspectorate cadre.

Oyeyemi said the applicants would go through different levels of screening exercise ranging from credentials, which has commenced aptitude test to be conducted by the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB), interview screening and drug test.

He said some irregularities ranging from the presence of married women, who were not supposed to participate in the recruitment exercise, was noticed.

He also frowned at the presence of pregnant women and applicants below the height limit required for the job.

Oyeyemi appreciated the military and the Department of State Security Services (DSS) for their support in ensuring the smooth conduct of the screening exercise.

Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Ntufam Edim Inok, has disclosed that only the state governor, Prof Ben Ayade that can reverse the issue of automatic ticket in the state.
Speaking on the issue at the PDP Secretariat, Inok revealed that instructions from the national secretariat had revealed that only the state governor would direct before any action can be further carried out.
“We actually had a meeting with our National Vice Chairman, South to clear the air on the pronouncement concerning the automatic tickets, which brought disaffection among party members
“The pronouncement will come directly from the leader of the party (Prof Ben Ayade) and when he is back, we would appeal to him to make another Town Hall Meeting for all the caucuses.
“Unfortunately, the governor is not in town; so what he actually wanted to inform the aggrieved people could have come from the mouth of the governor directly.
“But the information has not been given because it has to come from the governor himself. Then governor is not in town.
“We are threatened by defection; all we are saying is that the right thing should be done. Anybody can decide to defect but finally it boils down to the will of the people, it will be determined by what the people (caucuses) want,” Inok said.

According to a neighbour, who spoke to Vanguard, the couple had a misunderstanding, Saturday morning, and the husband left the house to avoid more issues.

However, Folake warned him not to return home, but since Taiwo had nowhere else to sleep, he returned home late Saturday night, thinking that his wife would have calmed down, only for Folake to start stabbing him.

But for the timely intervention of neighbours, the source said, she would have killed him, as he was lying motionless at the time he was rescued.

It was learned that Folake has since fled, while Taiwo continues battling for survival at the hospital he was rushed to.

When Vanguard contacted the spokesperson, Lagos State Police Command, CSP Chile Oti, he promised to get back, which he had not done at press time.

The kidnappers of two of the occupants of the Sienna car that was intercepted by gunmen along 9th Mile expressway, Enugu State have demanded N20,000 from the family of the victims.
The two victims, 22-year-old Kate Oibe and Samuel Oibe,13, were traveling in the Toyota Sienna car belonging to Nezam Transport Company, alongside 6 other persons from Lagos to Otukpo in Benue State when the incident happened.
The car was intercepted along 9th Mile expressway, near Enugu on Saturday and all passengers were whisked away.
Loveth Oibe, elder sister of Kate and Samuel had told DAILY POST that the gunmen intercepted the car and took her siblings away. She also said that a passenger and the driver of the vehicle escaped.
Loveth disclosed further that her father was able to reach the driver of the vehicle who is currently at the 9th Mile police station, and that the driver told him they were intercepted by some gunmen who whisked the passengers away, including her two siblings. ”The driver claimed he escaped alongside the front seat-passenger,” Loveth said.
The kidnappers have already established contact with Loveth’s father, Mr. Oibe and had demanded an undisclosed amount to release his children. The criminals have now made a demand of N20 million to the Benue family for their children to be released.

A fire outbreak which occurred in Kolokolo area of Enerhen town, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State on Thursday night, reportedly killed an 8-year-old girl identified as Kevwe Oghenevo.
It was garthered that the inferno destroyed property worth millions of Naira while the building is currently at the verge of collapse if urgent steps are not taken by good Samaritans to assist the owner.
Eyewitness, Mariam Jacob said the incident occurred when the mother of the victim was filling her stove with kerosene suspected to be adulterated. The product caught fire.
One of the occupants of the building, Josaiah Thomas who spoke to journalists said” The fire consumed all that we have. We heard shouts, and we thought it was a mere shout, only to discover that our house was on fire. We were injured and the little girl got burnt and the mother escaped.”
Police Public Relations Officer in the state,DSP Andrew Aniamaka who confirmed the incident to journalists in Asaba, said investigation into the inferno was ongoing, adding that the Survivors gave conflicting stories that require thorough investigation and warned that those behind the alleged adulterated Kerosene product, would be brought to book.
In the last few months, there has been hue and cry over alleged adulterated kerosene product in circulation across the state, particularly in Asaba, Ughelli,Warri, Ibusa, among others.

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation has queried President Muhammadu Buhari’s latest appointment of new Director-General of Department of State Security, DSS.

Buhari in a statement by his Spokesman, Garba Shehu appointed Yusuf Magaji Bichi as the new Director General of the DSS.

Magaji replaces Matthew Seiyeifa, who has been operating in an acting capacity since Lawal Daura was dismissed.

Reacting to the news, Fani-Kayode in a tweet said the appointment of Yusuf Magaji as the new DSS DG confirms Buhari’s Islamisation agenda. According to him, the appointment shows that Buhari cannot trust any southerner or Christian to hold any sensitive positions. He wrote: “I congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari for proving me right once again by appointing yet another northern Muslim to head the DSS and for refusing to appoint a Southerner and a Christian.

“For the last 3 years every single security and intelligence agency in our nation and every branch of our Armed Forces apart from the Navy has been headed by a northern Muslim.

Two factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State have adopted direct primaries to select party candidates for the 2019 general elections in the State, even as they continue in crisis.
Both factions have aspirants for various elective positions in the state including governorship position.
The state Chairman of the Party, Mr Godwin Etim John said on Friday in Calabar during a stakeholders meeting that the party had resolved to adopt the direct primaries as canvassed by the Adams Oshiohmole National Working Committee, NWC.
“The APC in Cross River State as a law-abiding party believes in the supremacy of the rule of law and we have resolved not to be part of any scheme to undermine the order made by a court of competent jurisdiction in the country”
He said the stakeholders also agree to pursue with vigour the ongoing party registration and mandated the chapter Chairmen to leave no stone unturned in the exercise.
It would be recalled that the Mathew Achibe-led executive had last week adopted the direct primaries for the upcoming general elections as directed by the NWC.

A 106-year-old retired teacher, who narrowly survived the collapse of St. Paul’s Catholic Church at Adagbrassa-Ugolo Ugolo Community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, Pa Michael Ikube, on Friday appealed to the Delta State Government not to abandon those injured from the incident.

In a chat with DAILY POST at the General Hospital were he is currently receiving medical treatment at Orerokpe community, Ikube called on the government to do everything humanly possible to settle his hospital bill as well as that of other injured victims.

He complained of serious pains all over his body as a result of injuries he sustained from the incident.

Narrating how the incident happened from his hospital bed, Ikugbe said they were singing praise and worship awaiting the arrival of the presiding priest when they suddenly heard a loud sound which resulted to the building collapsing on them.

According to Ikube, “Everywhere was dark. The only thing I remembered was that some people carried me from the debris and I saw myself at the hospital bed.”

While thanking God for sparing his life, he also commended the Delta State Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for his quick intervention by sending a delegation of his Commissioner for Special Duties, Barr. Ernest Ogwezzy to the site to obtain first-hand information.

Another survivor of the incident, Mr. David Ugbotu, Secretary of the Church, who also spoke from his hospital bed on behalf of other victims, appealed to the Delta State Government as well as the Catholic Diocese of Warri to quickly come to their rescue and help rebuild the church.

Ugbotu said that if this does not happen, they will have nowhere to worship, stressing that the community does not have funds to rebuild the church for them.

Meanwhile, the minority leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Julius Okpoko and Comrade William Eyare have sympathized with the victims as well as the bereaved family of the collapsed church.

The duo described the incident as unfortunate and called for a full-scale investigation so as to find out the actual cause, with the view of preventing a recurrence.

They prayed God to grant the victims speedy recovery and condoled with the parish priest as well as parishioners of St.Paul’s Catholic Church Adagbrsssa Ugolo-Okpe over the death of Master Jeffrey Enukanerhire who lost his life in the unfortunate incident and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.

They also called on well-meaning individuals to assist in rebuilding the collapsed church, and urged the church to immortalise the name of the dead parishioner.

They however enjoined property owners to adhere to standards and specifications while building public property.

Real Madrid midfielder, Luka Modric has revealed that ex-Los Blanco teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo congratulated him on winning the UEFA Player of the Year Award.

Recall that Modric, last month won UEFA’s Men’s Player of the Year ahead of Ronaldo and Salah.

“Yes, the last man standing has arrived. He would be picking his forms on Tuesday. It is time to save Nigeria from collapse,” Oche told our reporter on Monday.

Juventus and AC Milan have opened preliminary discussions over a possible swap deal involving Leonardo Bonucci and Gonzalo Higuain.
Juve are seriously considering bringing back the 31-year-old defender, with Bonucci having left the Serie A champions just one year ago amidst claims that he had fallen out with coach Max Allegri.
Higuain, who is likely to be moved on following Juventus's stunning signing of Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, could head in the other direction, initial talks between both clubs have taken place.
New Milan general manager Leonardo and Juve CEO Beppe Marotta were in conversation over the incredible swap deal on Monday, although discussions are still at an early stage.
Juve have, however, sounded out Bonucci's agent Alessandro Lucci, who has given positive feedback over the likelihood that the centre-back would be interested in a return to Turin.
Reports have suggested that the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are also interested in Bonucci, who made 51 appearances in all competitions for Milan in the 2017-18 campaign.
