Yes they can do it to an Igbo man as well... Even in Yoruba land the same scenario can play out but the difference is that you will have that one or two persons among the crowd that will stand by the truth and go against the untruthful crowd.

There is no way you can show someone who hate and despise you love. Unless he's showing sign of repentance. Igbos have been so hateful and aggressive in there attitude towards everyone opposed to their occasionally vague line of thinking, I don't thinking keeping love on the table for them to harvest when they need it will benefit anyone. They must show full commitment for love

Tell me, who will show love to a group of people that's at war against the Nigerian state and anyone opposed to their weak line of thought. Treacherous people that wants Biafra even if Nigeria no longer exist.

In all honesty, do you think Peter Obi can win the presidential election withoeut substantial supports of the Yorubas and the Hausas... And do you think he was able to get these kind of supports in the last election? The deception shown by many of the Igbo extraction is really appalling and ridiculous.
You have spoken well.

I enjoyed reading your comment above because they were sound and made perfect sense until I got to the last paragraph and I was disappointed.

Aunty, one can hate Obi as a person without hating Ndigbo generally. Likewise, one can hate Tinubu as a person without hating yoruba people generally.

Please be guided.
Hate does not happen in a vacuum. It is a very strong form of dislike which lends itself to spite and malice. Its only cure is to show kindness and forgiveness which entails humility

2013, I was driving a brand new Hilux passing through the street of Aba and a boy pushing a wheelbarrow containing several long metal poles was trying to navigate a bend but instead ripped off my fender arch, damaging it totally, it was an innocent error, because the moment he navigated the bend, the protruding pipes occupied half of the road, he should have been more careful though to avoid vehicle beside him before he took the bend.

He was already sprawling on the floor begging me before I came down from the vehicle. But to my greatest shock and that of the boy, we suddenly heard many voices shouting you wan kill am, you wan kill...many of the Igbo youth came out to support him. Not that I will even collect money from him but instead they all supported falsehood vehemently...in the midst of the chaos, the boy manage to tell me sorry but they chastised him.

They all booed me and laughed at me as I left the scene in a hurry. Not a single person stood for the truth. The fender arch alone cost me 70k to fix back then, because it was a brand new Hilux of that year. That year my perception of Igbos changed forever.
Don't you think they would reacted same way if you were igbo?
Yoruba's should self preserve and defend themselves where necessary but should not deign to the level of being hateful.

Aptly said ..but how can you show love to people lost in intense hatred for anyone not in their tribe. These are people that are far lost in ethnic bigotry. They demonize the federal government and their establishment for ethnic gain all the time.

You can force people to show love, never. The best thing is to allow them to go. It's not coincidence that 90% of those that have tried to forge Jamb results are from one particular region. 90% of drug traffickers comes from one region. This same region believe Obi that came 3rd in the presidential election actually came 1st. Something is fundermentally wrong...

Majority of Igbos have demonstrated in the past that they are products of failed parenting.
A cursory glance of my previous posts will tell you that I perfectly agree with your sentiments. I recently decided to be forgiving not only to people that offended me but also to collective tribe like the Igbo's whom I am a part of on my mother's side. I loathed the bossy, aggressive, in your face ,confrontational attitudes they display even in real life and so will never allow any Igbo man bully me. But I realise of recent that I may have to forgive them as a tribe and be more kind to the them. Thanks

Unfortunately, these people are the one choosing to be victims by their way of treating others and in most times they start the hating of other first. You can only get what you give others. You don't expect someone you slap to smile back. I don't see this abnormally stopping soon, look at our election from the past, they will never vote or support a candidate that don't have their candidate. See the support hatred they show Buhari bothe first term and second, see Tinubu too. I serve in Igbo land and I see first hand hatred toward those that are not directly thier blood much more people of different tribe.
I know and agree with you as half Igbo myself. But as Christians we are meant to spread light where their is darkness. As you know the toxicity in nairaland has spread out to twitter and may be our lives. Time for positivity

A section of the country is hurting, so deeply hurting, they feel marginalized and unwanted.
They also feel powerless and feel victimized, thus by default are defensive and distrusting. They need healing.
Healing won't come with hate for others, healing won't come with having superior complexes, but will only come with humility, respect and forgiveness towards others.
All tribes should respect one another and be humble.
Hating obi by extension means hating on Igbo's and likewise hating on Tinubu is hating on the Yorubas.

Politics / Re: The North Should Support Goodluck Jonathan In The 2027 Elections by Injera(f): 12:50pm On Jul 02, 2023
rano1:
Goodluck Jonathan should be supported by the North in 2027 election so that he can complete his tenure for the presidency, complete the presidency being in the south for 8 years and give Ibo people a sense of belonging (given his lineage).

I based this argument on the following reasons: As a Northerner, I cannot support Peter Obi as I feel he is too clannish for me to support given his previous antecedents in the 2023 elections.
Secondly, I believe Nigerians will be fed up with the Tinubu administration as the cost of living increases. Furthermore, I believe the following reasons will be to Goodluck's advantage:

Experience and Stability: Goodluck Jonathan has previously served as the President of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, providing him with valuable experience in governance and leadership. By electing him for a second term in 2027, the country can benefit from his knowledge and stability, allowing for continued progress and development.

National Unity: One of the key goals of any democratic nation is to promote national unity and inclusivity. By having Goodluck Jonathan as president, it can help bridge the gap between different ethnic groups, including the Igbo people. This sense of belonging and representation can contribute to a more cohesive and harmonious society.

Economic Growth: Goodluck Jonathan's previous tenure saw some positive economic growth, with Nigeria experiencing an average GDP growth rate of over 6% per year during his presidency. By giving him another opportunity to lead, it is possible that he can build on his previous achievements and further stimulate the economy, benefiting all Nigerians, including the Igbo population.

Political Stability: Transitioning power smoothly is crucial for political stability. By allowing Goodluck Jonathan to complete his tenure, it demonstrates a commitment to democratic principles and upholding the rule of law. This can inspire confidence in the political system and contribute to a more stable environment for future leaders to assume office.

A Balanced Power Distribution: By having the North take over the presidency in 2031 after Goodluck Jonathan's tenure, it allows for a fair and balanced distribution of power among different regions of the country. This rotation of power can help address concerns of marginalization and ensure that diverse perspectives and interests are represented at the national level.

A changed man: Goodluck Jonathan's previous tenure as president has provided him with valuable insights and lessons, allowing him to enhance his leadership in a second term. With improved governance skills and institutional knowledge, he can address past challenges and implement effective policies. Jonathan's return to power would bring about collaborative leadership, inclusive decision-making, and a strengthened focus on economic development, all contributing to national unity and a better Nigeria.

I think as we approach 2027, so many people in the PDP and in the North will be open to this argument. Majority of Tinubu's votes were from the North(63%). If he looses Northern support he will not get re-elected. If Goodluck should decide to run he will win easily and defeat Tinubu.
You fool only yourself claiming that you're a Northerner.

Tinubu is never and will never be the last hope for Nigeria because there are millions of good Nigerians that will emerge and lead Nigeria to the path of prosperity.

Tinubu is a man of questionable character. He's been bursted of drug dealings in Chicago united states which lead to his forfeiture of over $460,000 to the united states government. He's been fingered in massive corruptions and been dragged to court Many times for certificate forgery and other related offences which he wriggled his way out through the ever corrupt judges .

In a sane clime, Tinubu should be in jail and not aso rock but this is Nigeria where thieves are made king.
Hatred is bad to the soul. Making wild baseless accusations without any shred of evidence. You see whatever you want to see.
