He touched down at the Waterkloof Air Force Base on Thursday evening proceeding to Johannesburg where the forum will be taking place. President Buhari will join other leaders on Friday morning for the FOCAC opening. He will also meet with business leaders from China and Africa. In the evening, he would hold bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping of China – a follow up to his meeting with the Chinese leader which took place in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in November. President Buhari is also expected to discuss ways of removing all obstacles in the way of the 3,050 megawatts Mambila Power Station, considered a strategic project which was conceived in 1982 but has not taken off. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had said in a statement that the Chinese President had informed President Buhari of the willingness of his country to finance the whole project through a special loan agreement. “Of particular interest is the coastal railway project stretching for 1402 kilometers linking Lagos in the West with Calabar in the East; a project that is expected to be financed with 12 billion U.S Dollars Chinese loan and which will create about 200,000 jobs. “Another rail project that will be up for renegotiation is the 8.3 billion Dollars Lagos-Kano standard gauge modernisation project, of which only a segment, Kaduna-Abuja has reached completion stage”, the statement read. On the Nigerian delegation are the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema; Minister of Transport, Chubuike Amaechi; and the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah. http://www.channelstv.com/2015/12/03/buhari-arrives-south-africa-for-forum-on-china-africa-cooperation/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter |

The House of Representatives has called on the Executive to declare a state of emergency on unemployment in Nigeria. The declaration was one of the resolutions reached by the House on a motion sponsored by the Majority Leader, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila and 78 other members on Tuesday. The House of Representatives had mandated the Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity to hold a stakeholders’ public hearing with a view to providing legislative intervention for unemployment in the country. The committee is also expected to conduct an audit of all foreign nationals working in Nigeria in order to determine whether or not any private or public organisation has illegally engaged the services of a foreigner to the detriment of Nigerian citizens. http://www.channelstv.com/2015/10/27/reps-to-declare-state-of-emergency-on-unemployment/ |
This is really surprising from the Vice President of this nation and a Pastor saying no outstanding youth in Nigeria to form cabinet. This is an indirect insult to Nigerian Youths home and abroad. #APCWakeUp #StandUpNigerianYouths.

Facebook has made it clear that satellites will play a big role in delivering its free internet initiative to people across the globe, but talk of a rollout has been pretty limited. That changed today after the company announced it's teamed up with French communications specialist Eutelsat to beam connectivity to more than 14 countries in the most densely populated parts of Sub-Saharan Africa. Facebook and Eutelsat will work with Israeli company Spacecom to utilize the "entire broadband payload" on the AMOS-6 satellite, which is slated to launch later this year. Interestingly, Elon Musk's SpaceX, which applied to the FCC to launch its own downlink broadband satellites in June, will escort AMOS-6 to orbit using its Falcon 9 rocket. The Internet.org project has come under fire in recent months over neutrality and transparency, especially in India. Although it's now reaching hundreds of millions of people, the company been accused of pushing its services and controlling what they can access. To help distinguish its app from the wider Internet.org initiative, Facebook rebranded the app as "Free Basics by Facebook" and added 60 new services from developers who had signed up to the project. Facebook hopes to begin transmissions by the second half of 2016, connecting those who are out of reach of fixed and mobile networks. However, that's not all it has planned. It's also building Aquila, a 140-foot solar-powered unmanned plane that can deliver internet from 60,000 to 90,000 feet. The company will test the UAV later this year but there's no word on when (or if) it will be fully deployed. TORONTO – Sunday September 27 will be a rare luner event known as a blood moon. Early Sunday morning, starting about 2 am people in both North and South America have the opportunity to observe a full lunar eclipse that will cause the moon to turn a dusty, coppery red color according to NASA. The oddly colored lunar surface, known as a “blood moon”, will also be visible for those in the western Pacific for the last half of the eclipse. This event will repeat itself three more times over the next 18 months giving us what is known as a tetrad. Having this many full lunar eclipses is very rare. There was a 300 year period just before the 20th century when “blood moons” did not occur. Which means people who lived during Sir Isaac Newton’s time all the way up to Abraham Lincoln did not have an opportunity to view one. Another rarity in this tetrad is that all will can be seen by the citizens of North America. The red color should commence about an hour after the earth starts to hide the moon and should stay that color for about an hour after that. The term “blood moon” was popularized in a book by John Hagee and Mark Blitz. These two Christian pastors say the tetrad of lunar eclipses is a sign of the end times according to Joel 2:31 (Common English Bible): The sun will be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood before the great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. Viewing Events Many museums and observatories are planning special events for the eclipse. The United States National Park Service is sponsoring events at Great Basin National Park and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The University of Hawaii’s Institute for Astronomy will hold events at two locations on the islands. The Griffith Observatory will stream the eclipse live on the Internet. NASA will host two live question and answer sessions online. The first will happen roughly 12 hours before the eclipse via Reddit’s Ask Me Anything. The second will be a web chat hosted on their site just before the eclipse begins. NASA will also stream the eclipse live on their website. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says it may sell refineries that fail to work optimally by the expiration of the 90-day ultimatum for their rehabilitation. Dr Ibe Kachikwu, the NNPC Group Managing Director, disclosed this at an interactive session with news men in Lagos. Kachikwu said “by the end of December when the 90-day ultimatum will expire, any refinery that does not work optimally will be sold. “I am determined to make a difference during my tenure. We are losing N2.2 trillion monthly to refinery inefficiency. As at today, the average refining performance is 30 per cent. “If by December, the refineries don’t work, I will export crude allocation and import refined petroleum products until we fix the refineries. “Right now, the Port Harcourt refinery is showing signs that it will meet the December deadline. “However, I am not saying Warri and Kaduna refineries will not meet the deadline, but I hope they all make it, so that we can continue to utilise our crude allocation to boost domestic refining.’’ Kachikwu expressed the hope that the NNPC cash call arrears, which stood at N1.1 trillion, would be settled by the end of December 2015. “By December, I hope to settle all the cash call arrears and grow Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation (NPDC) to where it is supposed to be,’’ he said. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/09/nnpc-may-sell-refineries-that-dont-meet-ultimatum-on-rehabilitation-gmd/ |
