Politics / Gov Udom's Ibom Air Sack Young Graduated For Supporting APC - Premium Times by inpeace: 7:03am On May 15, 2019 |
AIRLINE SACKS EMPLOYEE ‘FOR SUPPORTING APC’ May 14, 2019. A new airline, Ibom Air, is yet to officially commence business. But it is already enmeshed in a controversy over the sacking of its employee for speaking in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ibom Air is owned by the Akwa Ibom state government. Akwa Ibom is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state, while the APC is the ruling party at the national level. The employee, Daniel Utomette, from Akwa Ibom, was sacked from Ibom Air on May 9, seven days after he was employed as a catering handler. The 29-year-old business administration graduate of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic did not enjoy the benefit of receiving his first salary before he was kicked out of the job. “This is to inform you that your services will no longer be required. This takes immediate effect,” says the termination letter, signed by Idorenyin Eddie, a human resources manager in Ibom Airlines Ltd. Mr Eddie said in the letter that Mr Utomette would be given one-month salary in lieu of the sack notice, in addition to being paid some money for the few days he worked for Ibom Air. Mr Utomette in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES, Tuesday, said a co-worker in Ibom Air informed him how his boss, the inflight services manager, came into the office some days ago fuming and accusing him of criticising the Akwa Ibom governor, Udom Emmanuel, on Facebook. Mr Utomette accused the governor’s media aide, Aniekeme Finbarr, of initiating the controversy that led to his sack. “Mr Aniekeme Finbarr made a post on Facebook, stating that I am an APC supporter and that I have been making obnoxious remarks against Governor Udom Emmanuel,” the sacked employee said. PREMIUM TIMES has seen a screenshot of Mr Finbarr’s Facebook post on Mr Utomette, prior to his sack. “This brother said there were no industries in the state, typical of how APC supporters talk. Today, he works at Ibom Air,” Mr Finbarr stated in the Facebook post. “Let politics not allow us run down the genuine effort of government in creating jobs. We only have one Akwa Ibom state.” Besides his comment on the social media site, Mr Finbarr posted photos of Mr Utomette on his work outfit in Ibom Air office. The comment and photos have since been taken down from Facebook. Mr Utomette admitted to PREMIUM TIMES that he made some comments on Facebook to express support for the APC governorship candidate in the state, Nsima Ekere, before the just concluded general election in the state. He, however, denied ever making disparaging remarks against Governor Emmanuel. Governor Emmanuel defeated the APC governorship candidate, Mr Ekere, to win reelection for second term. Section 42 of the Nigerian Constitution forbids discrimination against a citizen of Nigeria on grounds on political opinion, sex, ethnic group, or religious belief. The Akwa Ibom government, in January this year, inaugurated Ibom Air, which is seen as a milestone in the history of the 31-year-old oil-rich state. Governor Emmanuel said the state ventured into the airline business in order to “lessen the problems currently being encountered by numerous air travellers” to the state. The airline is supervised by the state’s ministry of special duties and aviation. The commissioner overseeing the ministry, Akan Okon, told PREMIUM TIMES he was not aware of Mr Utomette’s sack. He promised to investigate it. “Membership of political party is not a consideration for employment in Akwa Ibom,” Mr Okon said. The Commissioner for Information in the state, Charles Udoh, claimed ignorance of the sack of the airline employee. “Employment into industries in the state are not done on political party’s basis, we are one people,” Mr Udoh said. “No one is asked to show his PDP card before he is employed in the state. There must be some other reasons for his sack,” he added. The sacked airline employee, Mr Utomette, said he responded to an online advertisement about the vacancies in the new airline and was overwhelmed with joy when he got the job. As a catering handler, part of his job schedules would have been to assist in preparing, assembling, and stocking the airline catering store and flight galleries. Mr Utomette appealed to Governor Emmanuel to intervene and help him get his job back. “I just want to make a passionate plea to the governor to look into this matter. I don’t have any other state other than Akwa Ibom. “I know the governor is a father to all. I have gone to church to celebrate this employment, after being unemployed for more than six years after my graduation. I have no means of survival, I just want my job back, please.” Mr Utomette said. #PremiumTimes.

Politics / 2019: Nsit Atai is PDP: Integration Committee Commences Work, Records Feat by inpeace: 5:19pm On Nov 09, 2018 |
Source: https://www.pdpaksharmonization.com/2018/11/09/2019-pdp-reconciliation-committee-commences-work-records-feat/ Barely two weeks after Governor Udom Emmanuel inaugurated the Chief Patrick Ekpotu-led Integration and Harmonization Committee, which is saddled with the responsibility of reconciling aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who aspired during the last primary elections of the party. The Committee, after due consultation with respective concerned stakeholders, has on the 8th November, 2018, commenced its activities. Ikono and Mkpat Enin Local Government Areas came first in their schedule followed by Nsit Atai today. Addressing the former aspirants and concerned stakeholders of the party from the respective Local Government Areas, at the Government House, Uyo, Chief Ekpotu said his Committee was poised to engage in a reconciliation process where all interests are integrated and harmonized for the needed unity, peace and love to thrive for the common purpose of strengthening PDP for the forthcoming elections. He added that reconciliation plays a pivotal part in the rebranding and repositioning process of the party as initiated and spearheaded by the State Governor and the leadership of the party at all levels. Chief Ekpotu, who reiterated Governor Udom Emmanuel’s commitment and devotion to reunite and strengthen the party, said he was optimistic that PDP will coast to victory in the forthcoming elections. He stressed that with the recent amendment of section 49 of the Electoral Act, which provides thus “the presiding officer shall use a smart card reader or any other technological device that may be prescribed by the Commission from time to time for accreditation of voters, to verify, confirm or authenticate the identity of the voters,” no stone will be left unturned. He maintained that the reconciliation exercise was apt, timely and that with the corporation, compliance and impressive attendance of those concerned, success was imminent. He also added that the amendment of the Electoral Act indicates that Nigeria has gone past the era of election rigging. The Chairman of the Committee recounted the various gains and losses of a peaceful, harmonious and integrated coexistence in any organization and encouraged the aggrieved aspirants to sheathe their swords of anger. He pledged the Committee’s resolve to make favourable recommendations that will sure accommodate all interests, harmonize and integrate them for the purpose of building a formidable family that will rationally face the 2019 elections. He admonished them to in turn encourage their supporters to refrain from engaging in activities that will tarnish the image of the party. The former aspirants, while presenting their grievances, expressed their gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel for deeming it fitting to constitute the strategic committee. They commended the PDP, whose platform they stood to aspire to their various positions, for the peaceful conduct of the elections, adding that they have unanimously agreed to work together for the victory of all its candidates at all levels. In attendance were members of the Committee; former aspirants; Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo; Comrade Abasiono Okon; Hon Ekemini Ubah; Ikono PDP Chapter Chairman, Barr Moses Akpan; Ikono Political Leader, Sir S.U Akpan; Hon Bernard Akpan; Hon Anietie Akpan; Hon Victor Ekwere; Mrs. Idara Ephraim Akpan, and Mr. Effiong Inyang, who represented Mr. Emmanuel Inyang while today has Nsit Atai coming with Chapter Chairman; Mr Chrysantus Okon, Zonal Ex-Officio; Hon M.C Akpan, Aspirants; Mr Ubongabasi Ossom, Aniefiok Attah, Mark Esset among others.

Politics / Sen Akpabio Accused Of Stealing, Exposes Nddc's MD - Sen Udoedehe by inpeace: 6:12pm On Jul 07, 2018 |
Sen John Udoedeghe during an interview on Inspiration FM today acknowledges that his party, the APC is intact in Akwa Ibom State, he also didn’t fail to bare his mind on what he wasn’t comfortable with. That’s cool, because when grievances are aired, they become easy to address. He admitted that the State Chairman, Ini Okopido emerged from a friendly, constitutional Consensus amongst the stakeholders including himself. Based on this, fairness, equity and justice are expected to be the rule of the game as party primaries approach. And whoever emerges winner should be supported by all. The way he mixes strong, accented Ibibio with English language to express himself and convey everything and anything that bugs him on radio makes those interviews interesting, informative and even entertaining. His interview also included some snide remarks on Obong Nsima Ekere, the MD of the NDDC, but I trust as usual the quiet, unassuming man won’t see the need to respond in bad light to the senator. Everyone knows by now it’s neither in the character nor style of Obong Nsima Ekere to trade words unnecessarily with political competitors. He speaks only when the need arises, and Strictly on issues. However, the high point of that interview came abruptly when the senator dropped a weighty bomb… He said: “The family of Akpabio alone stole trillions. What is Udom doing? He is balancing paper for him” Could that be true?? Is Gov Udom really balancing the financial papers to huge Loots?? Celebrities / Popular Planet FM OAP Divine Ighovie Tackles Ecobank & Gtbank Over Fraud by inpeace: 3:48pm On Jul 10, 2017 |
I woke up this morning more upset than I was yesterday... In the wake of June 25 2016 between the hours of 12 & 2pm, I went to use the ATM EcobankNigeria along ughelli patani expressway Delta state, I intended to withdraw 60 thousand plus but the ATM couldn't pay more than 20 thousand per withdrawal, so I withdrew the first 20k it paid, the second attempt I made I was surcharged but the machine didn't dispense cash. I waited for a refund which is expected to happen with in 24hours it didn't happen. So I went to Gtbank at Airport Warri Delta state road which happens to be my bank, I was asked to fill a form, I went through all the procedures and I was told that after nine working days my money will be refunded. Nine days has turned to one year plus. I went back to Gtbank after the nine days the lady who lodge in my compliant said that she was sorry she lodge the wrong one and ecobank declined the request. Okay o a second one was done but now a different story came up that ecobank didn't respond. It turned from one request to countless request. I had to change my request centre from Gtbank Airport road to Gtbank at roundabout all in Warri, but as I write they haven't refunded me yet cause I will get my money back. Did I mention I went to the ecobank were I was defrauded by their ATM, i was turned down, they directed me back to my bank which i did and my bank@ Gtb Bank has sent multiple request to ecobank yet nothing has happened. This is how one Bank will stay and defraud people silently, the other day I met a man at the ATM stand and he said ecobank did same to him, he's has been since last year but not up to a year and it's 2000 thousand naira. Well ecobank is defrauding people silently and they need to be petition and called to other plus my money did not enter thin air o. It's in someone pocket. EFCC will not see this one o to investigate, CBN will not look into this and illegal charges from banks. Aside the fact that I want my money back I want justices for everyone who has been defrauded by banks cause they did not work the money for us. They will not steal money from people like Evans, it's hard working Nigerians....
