I know it’s not true.

You are the foundation of the Internet. You are the bridge between humans and information. When we say HTML isn’t an expertise in and of itself, when we take you for granted, we leave behind the people and systems who access that information using web crawlers and accessibility technology.

They say you’re not a real programming language like the others, that you’re just markup, and technically speaking, I suppose that’s right. Technically speaking, JavaScript and PHP are scripting languages. I remember when it wasn’t cool to know JavaScript, when it wasn’t a “real” language too. Sometimes, I feel like these distinctions are meaningless, like we built a vocabulary to hold you (and by extension, ourselves as developers) back. You, as a markup language, have your own unique value and strengths. Knowing how to work with you best is a true expertise, one that is too often overlooked.

Markup requires systematic thinking. What structure is the best match for this content? How can we make this content easier to discover and parse in the right order? What tags do we need to ensure a screen reader will parse your information correctly? I want you to know I know how important you are, and I still ask these questions.

I think of you every time I test a website in VoiceOver and discover it is completely unusable, with my keyboard’s focus jumping away to places I can’t actually interact with and no clear sectioning and headings to help navigate.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended the deadline for Nigerians to link their National Identification Numbers (NINs) to their SIM cards by one month to May 6th.

The move by the Nigerian Federal Government for citizens to procure the NIN and link them with their SIM cards was first announced in mid-December 2020. A two-week period was prescribed for the exercise, but after it was clear that the time window was insufficient, the Federal Government extended it to February, and then further pushed it to April 6th.

The approval to extend the period of the NIN-SIM linkage was given at the meeting of the Ministerial Task Force on NIN-SIM data linkage held on Thursday in Abuja. The extension statement mentioned that over 51 million people now have their NINs with a significant increase in the monthly enrolments.

“Based on the updates of the NIN-registration process, over 51 million people have been assigned NINs. There are many people who have enrolled and are in the process of being assigned NINs. With each individual having an average of three to four SIMs, the total number of SIMs tied to NINs would be close to the total number of registered SIMs in the country. The current number of monthly enrollments has increased significantly to about 2.6 million registrations.

There has also been a remarkable increase in the number of enrolment centres across the country with about 3,800 centres available for enrollments. There are also many more new centres in the pipeline,” the statement said.

The Implications
This extension provides more time for citizens to perform this exercise, but it also implies that thousands of Nigerians whose source of living depends on SIM registration would have to wait a little longer for business to resume as normal.

In the past, there have been calls and even lawsuits against the Nigerian government to either rethink how it is going about the NIN procurement process or suspend the exercise entirely. As at January, there were 47.8 million new subscribers with NINs, while 21 million subscribers were yet to obtain their NIN.

Two months later, over 51 million subscribers have their NINs linked to their SIM cards. Can the remaining 17 million subscribers get theirs done within one month at this rate?

Time will tell, as in Nigeria, getting any accepted means of identification can be difficult. It’s an issue the government has been trying to solve since 1986.

On Monday, Many south Africans took to social media to share their outrage when the video of a female pupil being assaulted by another female pupil surfaced.
In the video, one girl is seen repeatedly kicking and punching the other, forcing her to the ground, exposing her backside and ripping off her und£rwear while other pupils watch.



“The [department] has summarily suspended two pupils, pending the disciplinary hearing, who attacked a pupil shown in the gruesome video clip that is being circulated on social media,” it said in a statement on Tuesday.



The department said the school was directed to finalise the disciplinary processes within seven days.



“Professional therapy is currently being offered to the victim and other affected learners by competent psychologists from the department of social development.”



The department’s legal services officials have also been directed to assist the victim to open a police case and to contact the social media platforms’ administrators with the aim of removing the video and blocking its circulation.



“The Department of Education wishes to appeal to members [of] the public to refrain from circulating [the] humiliating video clip as further circulation will only serve to inflict more harm to the dignity of the victim for the rest of her life.”

Nigerian singer, David Adeleke better known as Davido has opened up on how much he was paid for featuring in the recently released Hollywood movie, Coming 2 America.
Davido made his debut in the Hollywood movie which is a sequel to Hollywood’s 1988 American romantic comedy, Coming To America.



Davido performed ‘Assurance’ in a wedding gathering as star actors from the Coming 2 America movie walked the aisle.

In a recent interview, the singer disclosed how he got the role for the movie.



In an exclusive chat on Ionwannatalk Podcast, the Assurance crooner stated that he was first contacted by his agent during one of his visits to Atlanta.
Davido said that he received an email from his agent offering a deal from the 'Coming 2 America' team and the next day, he got a cheque.

The singer revealed he got paid $15,000 (approx, 5.7 million naira) a day on the set of 'Coming 2 America'.



"On set, you get 15 racks a day bro! So in this whole time, I am still in disbelief. So my manager comes and goes we start shooting in November," Davido said.



Speaking about his on-set experience, Davido disclosed that he was treated to a warm reception at Tyler Perry's studios where the film was shot.



He got his own trailer with Nigerian food on order.

Meanwhile, Davido also stated that he is set to feature in another Hollywood movie after making his debut in 'Coming 2 America'.



The singer also opened up on his career, early beginnings and burgeoning Hollywood catalogue.



During the interview, the 28-year-old revealed that he would be playing the role of a taxi driver in a yet-to-be-identified film directed by ace filmmaker, Edward Zick.

Davido also said he has two studio albums recorded, adding that he’s only waiting on the right time to put them out. According to him, an extended play (EP) for which he partnered Chris Brown, US R&B star, is also in the works.



“Luckily for me, a lot of hits came out of ‘A Better Time’ (ABT). The first video I shot on ABT was me and Chris Brown. I’ve noticed that, with music, you have to plan especially when you’re releasing an album,” Davido said.



“We’re in an industry where you have hit after hit. After you drop this, they want you to drop that. With me right now, I have two albums already made. I have movies coming out so I think I want to chill,” he said.
