Ofemannnu: There is nothing like foreign religion, baba. Those idolatry religions have lots of darkness that depict that they are devilish. They do most of their activities in the dark and secretly. Christianity and Islam are done in the open. Does Islam not see Christianity as darkness? Does Christianity not see Islam as darkness? You are tagging your traditional practice as darkness because an alternative foreign religion was imposed on you by your colonial master. All the religions see themselves as light while they tag others as darkness. I am a Christian but I also believe that other people have the right to practice their religion without fear of intimidation. Kingship is traditional and so anyone who accepts a kingship position in Yoruba land must subject himself to the traditional practices involved. They shouldn't be shifting goal post. |

Was there not a king when he was born? Was the tradition not existent before he was born? Black man relegating his own tradition and upholding foreign ones. |

Putinofrussia: Then they should stop it. Most of those kings would prefer to be dealt with according to what they profess as religion but these traditionalists usually force them and say it is the tradition. Why are they not keeping to tradition in their daily activities too. Most of them now transport themselves using modern methods. It is satanic to cling to these idolatry practices. They should fear the Omnipotent, the Omnipresent.. Historically speaking, Kingship as we know it is not a religious affair but traditional. The fact that you accepted to be crowned a king means you are bound by that tradition. |

If European countries retained their pagan beliefs, I doubt if we would be rushing there in troops by now. Africa should move forward by adopting European culture and leave their tradition behind? Did China and India leave their traditional worship behind? Only Africa! That's why the continent is backwards. What's wrong teaching mathematics in our own language like other serious nations? No because we have lost our identity. Shame Was the idolatry practices not performed on the king before entronement? He should have rejected it from the onset. If you can't stand the heat from the kitchen, why enter in the first place? Our hypocrisy in this country stinks to high heavens. When a decision is made by govt which seems to infringe or the rights of Christians or Islam, each party would begin to cry islamization or christianization of the country but the same people are pressing the necks of traditional worshippers denying them of their rights of worship. Putinofrussia: It is high time these if a people or whatever they call themselves stop this nonsense. It is even against my human rights for you to force your stupid idolatry practices on me when I am dead. If It were in the olden days, nobody will oppose them but in this 24th century,it is unheard of. The whites too had cannibalistic cultures but they had let go of them.Reason why they are more civilised and developed than some Africans that want to die in the stone age. Why are they going to court? Does democracy in Nigeria have any iota of respect for traditional institutions?
They should have involved metaphysical powers against those kicking against the traditional rites to be performed on the corpse of the dead king right there at the burial.
For instance, they should have invoked heavy rain strong enough to disrupt the burial activities of that king, that was how traditional practitioners instilled fear into people those days. Going to court would not solve anything. |

Cheny00: Hello Nairalanders,
I need your advice urgently.
I rented a self-contained apartment in Lagos, and my rent is valid until the end of October this year. Just recently, I was informed that the landlord has sold the house.
Now here’s what happened: • They refunded half of my rent (without my prior agreement), • And issued me a 3-month notice to vacate.
I never agreed to terminate my tenancy early or to receive a refund — they just gave me the money and served the notice. I feel like I’m being indirectly forced out before the agreed expiration date of my rent.
Please, I want to know: 1. Is this legal under Lagos tenancy law? 2. Can they harass or pressure me out of the house since it’s now sold? 3. What steps can I take if I want to stay until my rent expires in October?
I’ve heard that once rent is paid and acknowledged, even a new landlord must honour the agreement. Is this true?
Please, lawyers and those familiar with Lagos tenancy law, I’d appreciate your input. I don’t want to be bullied or treated unfairly and also 3 months is too short for me
Thanks in advance! There is a face book page called The People's Parliament, they will tell you the next step to take. Free legal advice. |

DeLaRue: Great.
It is not going to be easy for a Nigerian President who know what he's doing to lose a Presidential election.
Nigerians say they prefer cheaper rice and garri to building the foundation for long term economic prosperity. Mr President, give it to them. A year to election, start opening the import gate - use the foreign reserves to import rice massively and bring the price down to N45000.
Shebi it was the President that built the Reserve from $3 billion that Mr Buhari left to the $24 billion we have now. They say 'na who $24 billion help'. Then the President use the money to import everything they say they want cheaper. Send most of the $24 billion to China, let them send us women's hair and everything else cheap cheap. Do it Mr President. It is what most Nigerians want.
They say dollar is too high. No problem. One year to election the President should start using the dollar reserve he is building for their future to feed them now. They say they can't wait, they want it now! Like under Mr Jonathan who used huge foreign reserves to import everything under the sun to keep them happy only to leave office with Mrs Okonjoeweala borrowing money to pay salaries while Mr Jonatha's Minister, Mrs Deziani allegedly helped herself to $2 billion. Mr Tinubu, Nigerians say they prefer that type of government..just give it to them.
While Ghana is slowly building the foundation for a middle-income economy, most Nigerians want ruinous short-term satisfaction. The same 'give it to us now' mentality the country has practiced since independence that has only taken the country backwards.
Mr President, just give them their stomach satisfaction. Now. You can't really blame the masses for demanding immediate gratification especially when the president and his fellow politicians are preaching patience while they themselves and their cronies are living flamboyant lifestyle with Nigeria's wealth. Let the economic austerity measures cut across all Nigerians starting from the leaders. We are not saying the global economy is not going through a phase all over the world, let the leaders identify with the suffering of the masses by spending public funds prudently. You cannot have enormous socio-economic injustice and not get uproar from citizens. |

Ogun state have never been lucky with good governors.
Politics is a game of numbers which means that the majority always had their way of voting useless personalities as governors and sadly the character of a governor in a state reflects the nature of majority of the citizens in that state.
Let them enjoy their governor, they voted for him. It is madness to continue to do the same thing every election cycle and expect different results.
Gbenga Daniel is the only governor I know who constructed several roads in ogun state when he was Governor with his OGROMA construction company then, any other governor after him neglected road infrastructure and the results is what we are seeing today. |

The noise about road construction. Should road construction be considered as dividend of democracy in this modern day era?
I mean the best roads we enjoy in Nigeria till today were the ones constructed by the military. Many of the roads constructed by Democrats don't stand the test of time as they were done shabbily with substandard materials, maybe Lagos to Calabar coastal road would be different, time will tell. |
