Most of the gas cylinders around here have seen series of painting to conceal the rust and the expiry code. You can follow the procedure on this link; www.skipser.com/p/2/p/lpg-gas-cylinder-expiry-dat e.html if the code on yours is still obvious. A lot is wrong in this country.

How about the use of those camping gas cylinders that students normally use.How safe or dangerous is it?
COOKING GAS is not dangerous itself. What is dangerous is the way it is handled by people. Camping gas cylinders, like the ones we provide (www.interimex.it) are all provided with a PRV(pressure release device) which will release pressure in case of fire, so therefore they cannot explode.

IF the starting point is a quality item, then you don't have to worry. IF you buy low quality cylinders or accessories(such as Chinese production items), you never know what to expect.

I think the Camp has cylinder is safe due to the fact that there is no "hose" connected from the Gas cylinder to the cooker. The burner is directly on the cylinder

Sometimes the "hose" might be might be leaking and while cooking that's dangerous cos it will ignite. That was why I asked her to place her cylinder at a safe distance. So in a summary...The Camp has is safe,as long as you tighten the "Gas control" it when you're done cooking
We provide SAFE gas hose and gas cylinders. To ensure SAFETY, gas cylinder should stay at least 1,5m from appliance(cooker)

good Morning,

using a HOSE is as safe as using a direct cooker on top of the cylinder. HOSE needs to be at least 1,5m long, to keep the cylinder distant from the burner.

How well do people use cooking gas in Nigeria?

Nigeria is the world's sixth largest producer of Liquefied Petroleum Gas also known as Cooking Gas but has the lowest utilization of LPG in sub-Saharan Africa with a potential to produce 5 million metric tonnes of cooking gas yearly and a national usage of merely 350,000 tonnes.

Mrs Nkechi Obi (Executive Vice-Chair of Techno Oil Ltd) said "LPG or cooking gas users find it extremely difficult to refill their cylinders. Sometimes, they travel as far as 200km before they can access facilities to refill their cylinders". She added "Our desire is for government to provide incentives for investors to build refilling plants and terminals and DPR to incorporate LPG plants in all mega stations within reach of communities, so that people can refill their cylinders with ease and at an affordable cost"

Mr Dayo Adesina (President of NLPGA) said with a population of over 160 million people, Nigeria ought to consume 5,000,000 tonnes of LPG/cooking gas every year rather than a 350,000 tonnes. He maintained that the gas that would be processed into cooking gas was abundant in Nigeria as the country has more gas than oil, adding however that consumption could only rise to 5,000,000 tonnes per annum if firewood and other dirty and poisonous fuels were discouraged.

Odunharry:
Alot can be the cause.
People can leave it unattended to for a long time.

People atimes are advised to put the gas abit far away from the house (room/kitchen).

Frequent check should be carried out on the pipe.

After cooking, many peopl make the mistake of turning off the stove(cooking area of the gas ) instead of Valve gas cylinder itself.
The reason you turn it off from the source/valve is because once itz off, the remaining gas on the pipe can burn off quickly and with this way, its safer to turn it off.

Also, people make mistakes of closing everywhere when using gas. IT's best u open up the windows and if possible, allow proper ventilation, the better .
Other causes which final user cannot notice nor understand are the wrong filling of the cylinder itself: I mean that cylinder must be filled at 80% MAXIMUM, because gas needs some space to expand in case of higher temperatures.
So if you buy a low quality cylinder, and you fill it up not properly, there is a risk of explosion.

cooking gas is not dangerous if handled correctly.

Do you know that the gas cylinder you live with in the kitchen is a time bomb, ready to explode any time. Like the vehicle tire that has an expiring date, do you equally know that the Gas Cylinder has an expiring date.

Expired LPG Cylinder are not safe for use, so please be careful. The expiring date is coded on the side of the LPG Cylinder in alphabetical order, A,B,C,D in quarters.

A is for March 1st Qtr
B is for June. 2nd Qtr
C is for Sept. 3 re Qtr
D is for Dec 4 th Qtr

There are some two digit number that follows, e.g. D06. The digit stand for the year the validity expires D06 stands for 4th Quarter ( December) 2006. That is the expiring date of that LPG Cylinder, so be careful to avoid domestic accidents.

Hello, explosion is normally caused by:
- bad quality cylinder; usually chinese production does not take care of simple quality and SAFETY issues, so their cylinders are most likely to leak, and so to break and so to cause damage
- any cylinder, if filled up not properly, will explode, due to the fact that if it is filled too much, there is no space for air inside cylinder. Cylinders must be filled up with 80% maximum of cooking gas. Other 20% needs to be empty for gas to expand, in case temperature rises.

my invitation is to only get good quality and safer cylinders.
we provide 100% made in italy products, such as cylinders, burners, heaters, lamps.

all built with respect for user's safety.

An easy way to prevent this type of accident is to get some quality products, which means they are durable during time, and last a longtime. Ths way you will only buy it once and be happy for many many years.
So I think since cooking gas(lpg) is a serious and dangerous matter, but it also has A LOT of benefits(way more benefits than kerosene), should be taken seriously and only certified products should be bought.

choose made in italy and you will not have such problems.

BUY QUALITY!
