Dear Bunmibie,
I have changed my mind so many times about writing to you, but when I saw your mention this morning, I knew this was the right time.
As someone who has always enjoyed reading your diary and can relate to many of the marital issues you’ve shared, I understand you. I also have a feeling that you might stop updating the diary, which is one of the reasons I decided to write this now.
No marriage is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes. But when someone recognizes that they have made mistakes and genuinely starts putting in the effort to do better, I believe they deserve a chance.
One of the foundations of every marriage is communication. The other person is not a magician and cannot always know what you are thinking or feeling unless you communicate it. Marriage brings together two people with different personalities, backgrounds, upbringing, and ways of doing things. Your husband may be used to doing certain things a particular way, but with communication, patience, and willingness, adjustments can happen over time.
I really think you and your husband should consider seeking professional help. I know this whole situation has been mentally draining for you, but if you are still interested in making the marriage work, give counseling a chance. There are also many free or affordable counseling resources available in the U.S. Girl, please take care of yourself too. Take walks. Find a hobby you genuinely enjoy. Find something that belongs to you outside of being a wife and a mother. Give yourself opportunities to breathe, grow, and enjoy your own company.
Above all, be smart and plan accordingly. Give him the opportunity to show you through his actions that he is willing to change, not just through words. And if he remains unwilling to change or continues making things difficult, ask yourself one important question—-Am I willing to live like this for the next 20 years?
Life is simply too short to spend it constantly unhappy. Whatever you decide, I genuinely wish you happiness, peace, and clarity. I wish you all the best, girl. ❤️
