I've read the book cover to cover at least twice. Achebe wrote his side of the story. Doesn't make it the only side. History is very subjective and viewpoints depend on whose side the storyteller is taking. You don't expect Obasanjo to write the same way Ojukwu will write about the Biafran civil war.

Also, beware of the danger of a single story. The best way to get an objective opinion about Nigeria's history is to read different sources from different angles and then compare before forming an opinion.

Firstly, in my entire quote, there is no place that I wrote that the only book I have read and drawn conclusion from is Chinua achebe's book so you obviously do not have any reason or make any point by warning me. Secondly, before you conclude as to who is giving a one sided story, i will like to ask you a question. How many different books by different authors have you read that wrote about the motive behind amalgamation of Nigeria? Thirdly, I believe you are educated and know what it means to use a source as reference. Fourthly, your point makes zero sense. If you are a Christian or a Muslim, why are you that and why do you put faith in someone's story about their own God and not that of the other religions? Why don't you think what you believe in is one sided? Nigeria will never progress if we keep this bias thinking of one person or group of people saying something inorder to draw pity from others without actually giving real facts and figures. Finally, I am only interested in the reasons Britain gave for amalgamating the northern and southern protectorate and nothing else. The amalgamation was not to solve problems but for Britain's selfish interest. You need to read this book ' there was a country' by chinua Achebe. Honestly everyone needs to get a copy of that book and read to digest its contents.
