I wonder oo...all this apc members seeking attention
This has always been my problem with some of you people. Your utterances lack common sense. Anyone who criticises the president must either be an APC member or an "Aboki".

Smh.

All these papers working for GEJ and PDP - they want APC to loose by fielding a candidate people are biased for because he per took in the recent first administration of PDP - it would not work for you people- it must be buhari or I wouldn't go and vote- that's if they even give me the opportunity to JEGA!!! My PVC O!
Leave some of these guys around here to keep making needless noise. They even go as far as saying the only way they can vote APC is if the party fields Okorocha!! Can you believe that crap! They say Jonathan is very popular yet want a very weak contender to run against him. What manner of popularity is thathuh

Rigged poll, not necessarily by the pollsters but by Atiku's Social Media machinery who may have mobilized for the poll.

How can the "comment-to-vote" results be different from the "click-to-vote" result? Very unlikely, except some people are massively clicking.
I made my comment, scrolled up and saw yours. Glad someone else here has brains.
PoliticsRe: Atiku Leads APC Poll With Wide Margin - Dailypost Poll by Iroh88(m): 7:36pm On Dec 06, 2014
However, the supposed victory of the former
Vice-President at the poll was contradicted by
an inherent corroborative measure which
comes with the DAILY POST poll. This refers to
the alternative means of voting that allows
respondents to also vote through their
comments in a bid to produce a foolproof
result. In this regard, Buhari routed Atiku as
well as the other aspirants by attracting
endorsements from an outstanding majority of
all who made valid comments.
The former
Head of State’s impressive showing in this part
of the poll confirms the generally-held belief
that he enjoys a cult followership.
They just stated unequivocally that barring rigging, Buhari would stump Atiku hands down!! cool

Funny but workable. First, nairalanders who are not serving jail terms should be allowed to view the activities of the 'inmates' wiithout the power to post comments.

Most importantly, I support the idea of a kangaroo court where banned members (on their way to jail) can appeal their case and get fair hearing.
Lovely suggestion!

Bros, this would have been a nice idea o, but those Insurgents/ e-fighters in the Politics Section would wanna be banned always so as to continue with their pictures posting. And you know what? They won't be banned. Anyways, e for make sense sha!
You are right. But I guess that is why we would have prison wardens to "break up" confrontations that threaten the physical/offline security/well being of members. I suggest the wardens be different from the regular mods since they already appear to have their plates full. It would be a sort of pro-bono service. smiley

Brilliant idea but it would be nice if free people can visit those in prison. This would give us access to their views on important issues. It would act as a small and limited deterrent to those in "prison" and would greatly reduce the need to open a new account.
I think the purpose of creating the prisons would be defeated if everyone is allowed access into them. Inmates would be able to interact with Freemen the same way they would had they not been incarcerated, which raises the question of why they are in prison in the first place!

No appeal oh. Jury makes the decision so even if you have a 'biased' mod as the judge, his/her hands are tied. The judge can only ask questions for clarification sake.
If as you claim, mods have bias, will this not be a chance for the jury to undo the unjust punishment? Anyways, it would make for interesting threads, if you are found guilty, go straight to jail...cheesy
Whenever you log in, na straight to jail till your ban expires. Issues of infinite 'banned till year 3059' bans will not crop up grin cheesy
Besides, some monikers would be too proud to seek a trial, they'd rather serve their jail sentence
Lol. Painful stuff. cheesy

Enoquin:
As Descartes has rightly said, Nairaland is an e-community. That an activity is happening in one section, doesn't mean, other sections are at a standstill...besides, the banned moniker is the one to seek for a trial and if it is a big offence, (s)he can get a trial with the understanding that the jury might even give him a stiffer punishment if found guilty...I know I would like to come to Nairaland e-court and watch as lawyers try without using abusive words, to get their clients punishment reduced or off the hook.
Secondly, issues of bias from mods will be reduced.

It's good thought to sample the opinion of others
You have a good point. But my fear is that commuting sentences through appeal could encourage impunity on the part of members.

Besides, if the decision of the court is to be taken under advisement, who then makes the final call as to the sentencing?? Would it be through a majority vote by the jury/judges?

This idea becomes much more complex when you consider its application under the politics section. Each of the mods have their political bias and you know what that means.

So for the avoidance of such complexity, I'd rather we stuck to the status quo where banning/incarceration is at the discretion of the mods (individually). smiley

then it will not be a faceless forum anymore! then PDP will have an avenue to hunt down those who are against them! no way! that option is not acceptable! angry
My sentiments exactly!!

I think it is a cool idea even that of the e-judiciary. Imagine Omenka(Op) being banned and his case taken to e-judiciary where only Barcanista and maybe Obiagelli (sorry for the mentions) are allowed as his defence lawyers. Then, the jury will consist of known partisan members or folks from religion or business section. All other comments apart from the judge, lawyers and maybe jury will be hidden. Then the jury will hand out the ban depending on the offence. Not all offences will require the jury though...cheesy
This is asking for too much. cheesy

Let's just have the Sonas, the Alcatrazes and the Kirikiris first. Let the prerogative to send people to jail remain solely in the hands of the mods.

Seun sorry to bother you, but can we have this on the fp? Sample more opinions and contributions, see if we can make something out of this. You never know.

Descartes:
This is indeed a welcome development smiley

Also those convicted should also be give an EX-CONVICT tag on every section they found themselves tongue
Brilliant!! Maybe some Red Asterisk on their Monikers. I think this would even discourage them from breaking the law more than the simple ban as it stands today. smiley

Truckpusher:
I think that you should seriously consider this idea .
This idea would reduce rule breaking in my own opinion ,after all who wants to be tagged a prisoner on NL? angry
I think I understand Seun's sentiments. Just as the op stated, this is likely to be abused because some people might deliberately break rules so they could be sent to Jail (even the Op stated thesame in the original post).

The only people I see doing such are those with multiple IDs. Some people might wanna keep tabs on what's going on in the prisons while still maintaining their freedom on the regular boards, true. But if the admin could make it possible to ban people possibly with their IPs (don't know if it is possible to "restrict" an IP to just particular places the way IDs can be restricted) then it would serve as a deterrent to deliberately committing "felony" grin.

When you understand "you can't eat your cake and have it" then I don't think you would wanna deliberately break the law and go to jail. Besides, you have NO IDEA how long your sentence is gonna last!!

in that section they could be planning how to destroy nairaland,,
People don't need to be on nairaland to plan its destruction. And the prisons, I suppose, would be accessible by the Wardens/Mods. Besides, why should anyone want to destroy the forum??
