vickychuk: I think gravel applies only when the sacks are larger or the soil does not drain well eg clay soil. This bags are smaller and water moves down quite easily. exactly, that's the point. mostly when use for vertical sack farming |

Yampotatocarrot: My oga, your reply just sweetened my heart. Was already wondering where I go go buy gravel cos construction workers will ask u to pay considering d quantity ull b getting... Now I know better. Thanks again. For marketing, do u weight to sell it just fill a bag n sell.. Cos I learnt there r various sizes produced by various species? well you can check your market because it may be different in kaduna |

Yampotatocarrot: Thanks for the reply. Hope this doesn't sound annoying, I noticed that your bag of soil doesn't have "gravel in the centre" which I've learnt z quite important in sack farming. Considering the water drips at just one point, how does t saturate d whole soil on the bag? On a side note: Damn, that your soil is really really black abi na dark I go call am, kudos why will weed come out if it doesn't circulate the sack well i read it too but it works for me without having any gravels .

I folded the pipe then cut a 1 inch pipe and put inside the drip line,4 per sack

thuao: I v bin following cucumber threads for some time now. I v even planted(murano), my question is ow long are they expected to live, cos mine re getting brown n dieing at around 60days, though av harvested some cukes. the harvest wasnt impressive because of pests n I didn't add fertilizers. it was just an experiment. I v planted another batch(tokyof1), hoping to correct my earlier mistakes mine is 4 to 6 harvest one weeks intervals between each harvest that is starting with the first harvest.depending on the weather and maintenance. |

vickychuk: It has already begun o.My aunt teaches in a government owned primary school and they were allocated small portions to teach pupils practical agriculture. I helped here cut some cassava stem, we also planted some corn, pumpkin and I gave she and some of the other teachers some Cukes seed. surprisingly none of them have ever seen a ready to plant cucumber seed and they were all like 'so this can really grow over here?' Funny thing is none of them planted cucumber on their own portion except my aunt. The elderly women bag the thing for their backyard gardens haha. Old peepz can be funny at times. nice one vickychuk |

knostbrown01: Pls, when exactly after planting do you start applying the fertilizer and is it continous or just once till harvest time
@vanpeele, u can be of help too bro well you know there is difference between applying fertilizer using drip irrigation or granular fertilizer.which one? For drip*The fertilizers should be applied every 1 – 2 irrigation cycles For granular most agronomist go with 7days or 10days intervals |
