SportsHow Barca Triumph At Real Again by ishoras(op): 2:50am On Mar 03, 2019
Barcelona inflicted a second defeat on Real Madrid in four days as Ivan Rakitic's strike secured a 1-0 win at the Bernabeu on Saturday.

After knocking Real out of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, Rakitic's first-half chip (26) helped Barca stretch their lead at the top of La Liga to 10 points.

Atletico Madrid will look close that gap on Sunday at Real Sociedad, but for Real Madrid their title challenge is effectively over after an eighth league loss of the season left them 12 points adrift. Visit://http://sportsmetro.net to read more.

SportsMislintat Leaves: What Next For Arsenal? by ishoras(op): 5:09pm On Feb 09, 2019
Sven Mislintat will finish work as Arsenal's head of recruitment on Friday after 14 months in the job, but what has his impact been and what comes next for the club?

Since the German arrived from Borussia Dortmund in November 2017, the Gunners have signed nine players across three transfer windows with a net spend of £78.4m.

In his first window, Mislintat brought in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Dortmund, where he first signed the Gabon striker from St Etienne, as well as another former Dortmund player in Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United and little-known Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos from PAS Giannina. Together with the now departed chief executive Ivan Gazidis and current sporting director Raul Sanllehi, who joined from Barcelona, Mislintat was then part of the three-man panel that appointed head coach Unai Emery to succeed Arsene Wenger in May last year.
Why is he leaving?
It has been suggested to Sky Sports News that some differences of opinion with Spanish sporting director Sanllehi is just one of the reasons for Mislintat's departure, as well as a level of frustration over Arsenal's lack of financial firepower in the market. Arsenal were linked with some big-name players in the January window such as Perisic and Carrasco, but were only in a position to propose loan deals.

The kind of person Arsenal are looking for to replace Mislintat also suggests he was not the right fit for the north London club's way of working, with a new personnel structure that includes Sanllehi and Hussein Fahmy having been phased in since the departures of Wenger, his chief negotiator Dick Law and chief scout Steve Rowley.

What next for Arsenal?
According to the report, Gunners are looking for more of a technical director to fill Mislintat's shoes; someone not only able to identify the next best talents but also help nurture them once they are at the club with a more closer tie to Unai Emery and the coaching staff. The club would like someone who is willing to be more hands on - a 'face' for the recruitment side if you will - who can travel with the team, take an integral part in club meetings and perhaps even do the odd interview.

A comparison with Eric Abidal - the sporting director at Barcelona - has been made to Sky Sports News; an ex-player who can help bridge the gap between dressing room and boardroom. Significantly, ex-Arsenal star Marc Overmars has done an excellent job in this role at Ajax since 2012. As their technical director, he has helped to identify, sign and develop players such as Davinson Sanchez, Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Kluivert's son Justin and Frenkie de Jong, who will sign for Barcelona in the summer. The renowned Roma sporting director Monchi is another name that has been mentioned - and someone who has helped keep Roma among Europe's top clubs on a tight budget, by bringing in talented youngsters and turning them into marquee players.

SportsChelsea's Sarri Unaware Of Pulisic Deal: I Didn't Know Anything Until Yesterday by ishoras(op): 2:12am On Jan 03, 2019
Maurizio Sarri admitted that he was unaware of Chelsea's move to sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund until it was completed, but played down the suggestion that he would rather have the United States international now than next summer.

Chelsea confirmed on Wednesday that they have agreed to pay €64 million to sign Pulisic from Dortmund on a five-and-a-half-year contract, but the 20-year-old will spend the rest of the season in Germany.

Speaking after Wednesday's goalless draw against Southampton, Sarri said the club asked his opinion of Pulisic a month ago and he signalled his approval of the winger, but he did not ask to be kept updated on negotiations.

SportsArsenal Top Spurs In Derby Classic by ishoras(op): 6:11pm On Dec 02, 2018
Arsenal saw off Tottenham in one of the games of the season with a pulsating 4-2 victory on at the Emirates.

In a topsy-turvy north London derby, Arsenal dominated early on and took the lead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's penalty (10), but were pegged back by Eric Dier's near-post header (30), which caused a ruckus after he celebrated in front of Arsenal fans.

Spurs then stunned the Emirates as Harry Kane converted from the spot after Rob Holding foolishly left a leg in on Heung-min Son (34), but Arsenal were level after the break through Aubameyang's fine curling effort from the edge of the box (56). Sub Alexandre Lacazette put Arsenal 3-2 ahead with 15 minutes remaining, squeezing a shot into the corner from 20 yards via a deflection, and they added a fourth two minutes later through Lucas Torreira after he raced through on goal at an angle.

Jan Vertonghen then saw red for a second yellow late on, and the result means Arsenal leapfrog their bitter rivals Spurs into fourth place in the Premier League table, eight points off leaders Manchester City.

SportsAuba Seals Win After Lerma Howler by ishoras(op): 2:10am On Nov 26, 2018
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the winner as Arsenal claimed a first Premier League win in four games with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

Eddie Howe's side had recovered from Jefferson Lerma's remarkable own goal, the Colombian inadvertently volleying beyond his own goalkeeper from the edge of the box (30), as Josh King deservedly curled them level on the stroke of half-time (45+1). But the Gunners produced a belated moment of attacking quality midway through the second half when Alex Iwobi and Sead Kolasinac combined to afford Aubameyang a simple finish (67). Lerma almost atoned but cracked the post, while Bernd Leno made a leaping late save to preserve the fragile advantage and Gunners - now unbeaten in 17 games with a north London derby looming - held on to move to within a point of fourth-placed Chelsea.

SportsArsenal Were In Decline, Lost Structure Under Arsene Wenger – Unai Emery by ishoras(op): 1:58am On Nov 23, 2018
Unai Emery believes Arsenal were in decline towards the end of Arsene Wenger's 22-year reign and "had to change things".

The Gunners will resume Premier League action following the international break with a trip to Bournemouth on Sunday, looking to extend a 16-match unbeaten run in all competitions.

Arsenal failed to finish in the top four for the first time under Wenger in the 2016/17 season and again missed out on the Champions League places in the Frenchman's final season in charge. Emery praised Wenger's achievements at Arsenal but says a loss of a "defensive structure" was the reason behind the club's struggles in his later years at the helm "I met once with [Wenger], and little else. I respect him a lot, but no matter how much info he gave me, I had to change things," Emery told Marca.

"I told the players: 'We started at kilometre zero'. Even now, four months later, I still say it: 'We are in the beginning!'. "Before Wenger arrived, Arsenal celebrated the 1-0 (win) and was based on defensive solidity. Then with Arsene, joy was turned into attack, with players of good standing, and the perfect combination was 'The Invincibles'," he said.

"But over time, only technical quality and offensive freedom were taken care of, and the team lost the defensive structure. "What I want is to unite both essences and be more competitive. The Arsenal was in decline. We had to stop it and start climbing."

Sadio Mane has agreed a new long-term contract with Liverpool. The 26-year-old's new deal will see him remain at Anfield until 2023, Manager Jurgen Klopp says he "can't think of a single club anywhere in Europe that wouldn't want a player like Sadio available to them".

SportsMourinho, Man United Back In Spotlight To Face Chelsea, Juventus Tests. by ishoras(op): 12:36pm On Oct 20, 2018
After the turmoil that dominated the days leading up to the international break, attempts have been made to clear the air at Manchester United's Carrington training ground. There has been serious discussion among chief figures, in hopes of resetting the season and removing the cloud that has enveloped the club.

From club officials to the manager, players and beyond, reputations have been battered due to the team's poor form, which has seen them lose three of their opening eight Premier League games and suffer elimination at the hands of Championship side Derby in the Carabao Cup.

If things do not improve then Jose Mourinho will lose his job, but he is not giving up -- he has even been seen cracking a smile at times -- and he does not want his players to, either. Moreover, he has support from fans at matches; he will need it in the weeks ahead.

SportsThierry Henry Edges Closer To Monaco Manager's Job After Leonardo Jardim Sacked by ishoras(op): 1:37pm On Oct 11, 2018
Thierry Henry is edging closer to becoming Monaco's next manager, with talks between the two parties at an advanced stage, say Sky sources.
Leonardo Jardim was sacked on Thursday with the club 18th in Ligue 1, having won just one of their opening nine matches.
Henry is favourite for the job, and has a strong connection with Monaco after starting his professional career with the principality side. He left Sky Sports in the summer in order to pursue his ambition of becoming a manager, although he is still part of Roberto Martinez's backroom staff with Belgium.

The former France and Arsenal forward took the job in 2016, and is currently expected to remain with the national team for their Nations League match against Switzerland on Friday.

Henry held talks with Aston Villa this week about becoming their new manager, according to Sky sources, but they appointed Dean Smith on Wednesday.

Jardim led Monaco to the Champions League semi-finals in 2016-17 - knocking out Pep Guardiola's Manchester City along the way - and was reported to be one of the contenders to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in the summer.

SportsSpurs Would Love To Take Eric Bailly Off Man United’s Hands. by ishoras(op): 11:42am On Oct 11, 2018
Tottenham would very much like to sign Eric Bailly, who has swiftly and suddenly fallen from grace at Manchester United over the last few months.

Restricted to just three league starts this season, the Ivory Coast defender was hauled off after just 19 minutes of Saturday’s 3-2 comeback win over Newcastle. However, Mauricio Pochettino is said to be a big admirer of Bailly and is therefore keen to make a move to sign the out-of-favour centre-back in the January transfer window.

The Daily Star reckons there may prove to be a couple of sticking points, with United’s £30 million-plus valuation and their reluctance to sell to a direct rival likely to make things difficult for Spurs.

There is also the small matter that Arsenal are also rumoured to be interested, though we can only imagine the same potential roadblocks apply to Unai Emery’s team as well.

SportsLiverpool Leave Man United To Fight Over Ramsey by ishoras(op): 11:31am On Oct 11, 2018
Aaron Ramsey is set to leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season, as talks on a new deal have now collapsed past the point of salvation.

But according to sources (ESPN FC), there is no current interest from Liverpool despite the Evening Standard reporting that both Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho (assuming it is still Mourinho in charge at Man United then) are keen to keep him in the Premier League a little while longer.

Klopp does want a central midfielder, but other sources have told ESPN FC that his main target is PSG’s Adrien Rabiot, who he tried to sign when he was Borussia Dortmund coach.

The German boss has followed Rabiot’s progress very closely with the pair have already spoken on the phone to discuss a move, so it looks like Rabiot will win the battle of the free transfers over Ramsey… at least in Liverpool’s eyes.

SportsCristiano Ronaldo Stars As Juventus Come From Behind To Beat 10-man Napoli by ishoras(op): 8:22pm On Sep 29, 2018
Cristiano Ronaldo played a part in all three goals as Juventus came from behind to defeat title rivals Napoli on Saturday.

Napoli took the lead through Dries Mertens after 10 minutes but Juventus turned the game around thanks to Ronaldo's intervention.

Mario Manduzkic scored twice and Leonardo Bonucci added another as Juventus claimed their eighth win a row in all competitions.

Ronaldo was the star, though, and Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri praised Juve's new signing after the match.

"We started a little tense, gave away too many balls and conceded the goal. Cristiano Ronaldo did well to create two or three promising situations," Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

"Once Napoli went down to 10 men, we stopped playing, and that made me angry. We ran a big risk on Jose Callejon's chance and they could easily have equalised.

"Ronaldo is enjoying his football, he has integrated very well and he loves an assist as well as a goal. He had some exceptional passes tonight and it's all about finding him in the right way.

"I thought tonight and the first half-hour against Valencia represented his best performances of the season so far."

Mario Rui was sent off for the visitors just before the hour mark as Napoli slipped to their second Serie A defeat of the season.

"I think the referee made a superficial decision. Mario Rui got the second yellow card after a good long wait to consider it," Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti told Sky Sport Italia.

"The two yellows came from the superficiality of the referee.

"I was angry at my team because we started strong and took the lead, but then started getting sluggish and allowed Juventus to regain their confidence."

Mandzukic headed Juve level on 26 minutes following a wonderful cross by Ronaldo and then added another four minutes into the second half, with Ronaldo once again playing a part.

Rui then saw red for a second bookable offence and Bonucci met Ronaldo's pass to put Juventus further ahead.

Juventus now turn their attention to Young Boys in the Champions League with Ronaldo suspended as he serves a one-match after he was sent off against Valencia, while Napoli take on Liverpool.

SportsHammers Heap More Misery On Jose Mourinho's Men by ishoras(op): 8:08pm On Sep 29, 2018
West Ham piled more pressure on Jose Mourinho with a 3-1 victory over Manchester United at the London Stadium.

Paul Pogba returned after his midweek spat with Mourinho, but it took just five minutes for things to unravel as record signing Felipe Anderson scored his first West Ham goal with a deft near-post flick.

A miserable first half for the visitors was compounded two minutes before the break when Andriy Yarmolenko's shot took a wicked deflection off Victor Lindelof to double the Hammers' lead.

Marcus Rashford halved the deficit just after the underwhelming Pogba had been substituted on 70 minutes, but Marko Arnautovic extinguished any hopes of a comeback with his fourth goal of the season four minutes later.

SportsDaniel Sturridge Rescues Point For Liverpool In Draw At Chelsea by ishoras(op): 7:55pm On Sep 29, 2018
Liverpool's unbeaten start to the Premier League season continued after Daniel Sturridge rescued a point in the dying minutes against Chelsea.

Eden Hazard looked to have inflicted Liverpool's first defeat of the campaign with his first half opener but Sturridge, against his former club, scored a stunning equaliser on 89 minutes.

The result means both Chelsea and Liverpool remain unbeaten while Manchester City moved to the top following their 2-0 win over Brighton.

Mohamed Salah had a sight of goal after five minutes, but his effort was tame and easily saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Salah was given another run in at goal five minutes later, and while this time his shot went high and wide, Chelsea looked vulnerable.

Chelsea created the first clear-cut chance of the game with David Luiz playing a ball over the top of the Liverpool defence, but Alisson managed to close down Willian to prevent his Brazil teammate scoring.

Liverpool were carved open again midway through the first half, with Mateo Kovacic picking out Eden Hazard perfectly, and the in-form forward finished from a tight angle to put Chelsea in front.

That goal was the first Jurgen Klopp's side have conceded in the first half in the Premier League this season, and they responded quickly, again through Salah.

The Egypt international raced clear of the defence and rounded Arrizabalaga, but his shot was cleared off the line by Antonio Rudiger.

The first action of the second half came with nearly an hour gone, as Sadio Mane wriggled through the right side of the Chelsea defence, but his low shot was saved by Arrizabalaga at the near post.

Photo by John Powell/Liverpool FC via Getty Images
Willian went down the other end and was bearing down on the Liverpool goal, but Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk recovered in time to clear the danger.

Chelsea threatened again soon after, with N'Golo Kante playing a quick free kick to release Hazard, but Alisson was equal to his shot.

Salah was hooked after 66 minutes, and his replacement, Xherdan Shaqiri, should have levelled proceedings not long after, but he was unable to convert from point-blank range.

Liverpool continued to push for an equaliser, with Roberto Firmino's header cleared off the line by David Luiz.

While the away side controlled the latter stages, Georginio Wijnaldum nearly gifted Chelsea the win with a horror back pass to Alisson, but the goalkeeper just managed to beat the oncoming Alvaro Morata to the ball.

With 89 minutes gone, substitute Sturridge hit a curling effort from 25 yards into the top corner, ensuring Liverpool's unbeaten start to the season carries into October.

However, the draw means that Manchester City move to the top of the table following their win against Brighton.
