Sports / Deontay Wilder Is Back by ishoras(m): 1:50pm On Oct 12, 2022
Deontay Wilder is not a big fan of roller coasters, but that didn’t stop him from enjoying a vacation to Universal Studios in Southern California following the epic trilogy that was his last fight against Tyson Fury.

Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) is making his ring return 377 days after the trilogy with Fury. The third fight featured five knockdowns between the men — three by Fury, two by Wilder. But Fury picked up the 11th-round stoppage, giving Wilder two defeats and a draw in one of the most dramatic boxing rivalries of the century.

“With these last three years that I have, I want to be able to say I went against all of them before it’s over with, to add on to my legacy.”

Deontay Wilder

Wilder told ESPN that he was nearly done with the sport until last May, when a bronze statue honoring him was unveiled in Tuscaloosa. He said the outpouring of support and the emotion at the event revealed to him just how much he meant to others.

“I speak how I speak because I speak passion, I speak from my heart,” Wilder said. “Sometimes people can relate to me and resemble certain things that I go through. When people feel you, that brings power.”

That led to a fight against Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs), someone Wilder knows well. The Finnish fighter sparred with Wilder in preparation for all three Fury bouts.

Helenius showed a similar inner resolve when he overcame a knockout loss in 2016 to fringe contender Johann Duhaupas to continue his career. Helenius is coming off back-to-back knockout wins over Adam Kownacki. The 38-year-old knows this is the biggest opportunity of his career.

“That’s why I put my life on the line for this fight and [I’ve been] training my ass off just to be here,” Helenius told ESPN.

Helenius will have to contend with perhaps the most vicious right hand in boxing, one that nearly stopped Fury on two different occasions. And despite the losses, Wilder appeared bolstered by his showing in the trilogy.

“I’m a true king and a true warrior,” Wilder said. “And I’ll go out on my shield any given day because that’s what I believe in.”

That’s how Wilder wants to finish his career, too. At the very least, Wilder will maintain his No. 1 contender status with the WBC if he beats Helenius. Wilder held the WBC world title from 2015 to February 2020, when he lost it to Fury in their second fight, a seventh-round TKO defeat.

Fury’s future in the sport, which has included a series of quasi-retirements, is very uncertain. He is in talks to face Derek Chisora in a trilogy fight in December. Oleksandr Usyk holds the other three major belts. He beat Anthony Joshua in August.

Even without a title, Wilder wants to chase the best fighters in the division with his remaining time in the sport.

“With these last three years that I have, I want to be able to say I went against all of them before it’s over with, to add on to my legacy,” Wilder said. “And once that’s complete, then we will say this era of boxing was an amazing era because we had so many great fighters and so many great champions that fought each other.”

Sports / Willian Tells Friends He Wants Arsenal Move by ishoras(m): 2:54am On Aug 05, 2020
Willian is holding out for a summer transfer to Arsenal - and has turned down riches on offer in the MLS in order to make it happen.

The Brazilian winger is out of contract at Chelsea, and has been chasing the financial certainty of a three-year contract at the age of 31.

That determination now now seen him tell friends that he would like to stay in London and join Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, even though the most lucrative deal on the table has come from David Beckham’s MLS franchise Inter Miami.

Arsenal aren’t willing to match the money that has been offered from the States, but they are willing to put forward the extra year that the winger is craving.

Crucially, Willian would also be able to stay in London where his family are settled. Last month Willian outlined the importance of a three-year deal to Brazilian YouTube channel De Sola, saying: “Chelsea only offered me two years and I asked for three. My goal in the next contract is to sign for three years, so I haven’t had a deal with Chelsea yet.

Sports / WILLIAN'S Transfer To Arsenal Appears To Have Been Confirmed In A Leaked PES2021 by ishoras(m): 2:43am On Aug 05, 2020
Arsenal have partnered with video game series Pro Evo - whose game rivals Fifa as the biggest on PS4 and Xbox. The clip says "new signing" at the beginning and appears to show the 31-year-old Brazilian in Arsenal colours with "Willian" across the screen.

A PES 2021 watermark is visible in the bottom left corner.

Arsenal tweeted a video earlier today showing what players can expect from the game - set for release on September 15 - three days after the new Premier League season begins.

The leaked video suggests Willian will by then have completed his move from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates.

Willian - who has been with the Blues for seven years - had been holding out for a three-year deal from former team-mate Frank Lampard. He has reportedly been offered that by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

Chelsea already made an exception in Willian's case with the two-year offer because they usually only give over-30s a one-year contract.

All signs now seem to point to his exit in this window.

Willian's agent Kia Joorabchian recently told talkSPORT that his player has had two offers from Premier League clubs.

And he claimed that five clubs in all are interested in a deal.

Joorabchian said: "We had big offers – one from MLS which required him to move on July 1 – but he’s always wanted to finish the season at Chelsea and the day after the season has finished he would decide.

"He has two concrete offers from Premier League clubs on the table, an offer from an MLS club, and two other offers from Europe

"He is going to make his decision after the last game of the season."

Sports / Aubameyang Edging Towards New Arsenal Deal & Arsenal Target ‘ready To Join’ by ishoras(m): 1:17am On Jul 05, 2020
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly nearing a new deal at Arsenal.

The former Borussia Dortmund striker has been in fine form for the Gunners this season and notched 19 league goals in 30 games for the club. That has seen focus turn to his new contract, and according to ESPN there is ‘growing confidence’ that a breakthrough can be found.

The outlet reports that Aubameyang wants a three-year deal on £250,000 per-week to stay at the Emirates, which is a sizable commitment for a player that is 31-years-old. This comes just days after the club agreed a new long-term deal with Bukayo Saka.

Thomas Partey is “ready” to join Arsenal, according to Graham Hunter.

Partey, 27, has been a target for Arteta for some time and is believed to be available for around £45million from Atletico Madrid. A release clause means the Spanish club have little way of stopping the move.

Atletico midfielder Partey has strongly been linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of the transfer window opening.

Speaking to Bet365, Hunter claimed that Partey would be the perfect signing for the Gunners.

“Mikel Arteta will want to work with youth-team players but until Per Mertesacker, who is in charge of the academy and I’ve got complete faith in to start a conveyor belt of hard, tough, well-trained, skilled footballers coming through, until that point they need to add quality,” he said.

“If I was to look around immediately I’d buy a bargain-basement Luka Jovic from Real Madrid, I’d buy Thomas Partey from Atletico and Partey is ready to come to Arsenal, and Dayot Upamecano from Leipzig would be a perfect reinforcement at the back.”

Sports / Arsenal Considering Swoop For Experienced PSG Star by ishoras(m): 12:43pm On Jun 24, 2020
Arsenal are reportedly one of the clubs in the running to sign Thiago Silva on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain during the summer.
Silva has been with Les Parisiens for the past eight years but the club seem unlikely to extend his contract beyond the end of their Champions League League campaign in August.

As a result, he is expected to become a free-agent in a few months’ time and 90min claims that the Gunners could compete with the likes of Everton, Newcastle United, West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers for his services.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is on the look out for defensive additions to the squad this summer and Silva remains a lucrative option for the club despite him approaching his 36th birthday.

The north London side could face stiff competition from the Toffees, in particular, considering Silva has a good relationship with manager Carlo Ancelotti from their days working together at AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

Sports / David Luiz Signs New Arsenal Contract by ishoras(m): 12:25pm On Jun 24, 2020
David Luiz has signed a new one-year contract at Arsenal, while Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares have made their loan moves permanent from Flamengo and Southampton respectively. Dani Ceballos has also extended his loan from Real Madrid until the end of the season. Luiz was due to be out of contract at the end of June and Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta had urged the club to extend his deal.

Arsenal technical director Edu said: "I am really happy that we will have these players in our squad for the future. They have been part of the long-term technical plan Mikel and I have developed. They bring the right balance to our squad. "David is a really important player for us. He has played most of our matches this season and has been important for the team. His passing, his communication with the team on and off the pitch. He helps everyone.

Arsenal sit 10th in the Premier League table after back-to-back defeats following the season's resumption and they face Southampton on Thursday night.

Sports / Arsenal Will Keep Pierre-emerick Aubameyang Until The End Of His Contract by ishoras(m): 2:47am On Jun 03, 2020
ARSENAL will keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the end of his contract if they can’t get a decent price for him this summer. Aubameyang is about to enter the final year of his £180,000-a-week Emirates contract and has so far resisted all the club’s efforts to extend his stay.

But Arsenal will not be panicked into selling their star striker to the first bidder just to avoid the risk of losing him for nothing next year.
Head of football Raul Sanllehi declared that no player will be allowed to run down his contract after Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck all left the club as free agents. But that policy could be relaxed this summer in the face of a massively depressed transfer market.

And that threatens to wreck Aubameyang’s hopes of a move if the cost of a replacement striker far outweighs the fee Arsenal would get for him. When Barcelona made a tentative enquiry in January, they were quickly scared off by talk of a £50million price tag.

But his value has plummeted in the wake of the corona virus pandemic which has destroyed every club’s transfer budget. Now Arsenal would do well to pocket £20million for a player who turns 31 in two weeks’ time. That will be nowhere near enough to sign a replacement for a striker who has scored 61 goals in 97 Arsenal appearances since his £56million move from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.

And with manager Mikel Arteta still keen to keep his captain and top scorer, Arsenal believe Aubameyang will be more valuable leading their attack for another season than leaving for a knockdown price.

Aubameyang has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League and challenge for trophies in the final years of his career.

But Arteta believes Arsenal can still qualify for Europe’s top competition this season despite occupying ninth place in the table at the moment.

He hopes that he can use face-to-face talks to persuade Aubameyang that he can still achieve his ambitions at the Emirates. Aubameyang has already taken a weekly pay cut of £22,500 to help cash-strapped Arsenal through the coronavirus crisis.

But he will get all of that money back if he can fire the team into the top four when the season resumes at Manchester City in two weeks’ time.

And the fact that very few clubs can afford to match his £9.3million-a-year salary and a hefty transfer fee could yet price Aubameyang out of the market this summer.

Sports / Arsenal Star Mesut Ozil Slammed By Piers Morgan For Pay Cut Refusal – ‘shame On by ishoras(m): 6:59pm On Apr 21, 2020
Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has laid into Mesut Ozil over his refusal to accept a 12.5 per cent wage cut for the next 12 months amid the coronavirus crisis.
The Gunners yesterday announced that they had reached a "a voluntary agreement with our first-team players, head coach and core coaching staff to help support the club" at what they called a "critical time".

The coronavirus pandemic is set to have a major impact even on the vast finances Premier League clubs boast, with Arsenal looking to cut costs on their £230million wage bill.

Had every player agreed to take the 12.5 per cent cut, they would have said £25m across the next 12 months.
And Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan this morning tore into Ozil for refusing to get involved.

Last night, Morgan had already tweeted: "Disgraceful, but no surprise - Ozil's been getting £350k-a-week for doing nothing since 2017."

And following up on his criticism on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain, the Arsenal fan fumed on the ITV Breakfast show: "Shame on you Mesut Ozil, shame on you!

"So let me get this straight, some of the younger players on far less money than you are taking a 12.5 per cent pay cut - a minuscule drop in the ocean for you - and you don't want to do it?

“Because you want to see how the financial situation plays out while you’re sitting on your backside playing PlayStation every night rather than actually playing football? Really?

“Now I’ve preserved my condemnation for football clubs who have been furloughing, using taxpayers’ money when they’ve got plenty of money themselves – Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham, all got shamed into doing u-turns on this kind of thing.

“The players I thought were getting a bad wrap – this is why some of them deserve a bad wrap. People like Mesut Ozil, who just said no.

“‘No, sorry, no, I may be the highest paid player at Arsenal, I might be one of the highest paid players in the world, I might be worth gazillions and I might be sitting on my backside at the moment doing nothing but no, I’m not going to take a pay cut.'”

Co-presenter Susanna Reid added: “Shall we compare and contrast to someone who definitely hasn’t been sitting on their backside – Captain Tom Moore.

“I do believe his efforts for the NHS have now raised £27million. A stellar example.”

An emergency meeting was then held by the league’s powerbrokers, at which it was decided to pause all matches for a two-week period.

The Premier League said in a statement: “Following a meeting of Shareholders today, it was unanimously decided to suspend the Premier League with the intention of returning on 4 April, subject to medical advice and conditions at the time.

“Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: ‘Above all, we wish Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi speedy recoveries, and everyone else affected by COVID-19.

“In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, Government, The FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority.’

“Despite the challenges, it is the Premier League’s aim to reschedule the displaced fixtures, including those played by Academy sides, when it is safe to do so.

“In this fast-moving environment, further updates will be provided when appropriate.”

Sports / Paris Saint-germain Open Transfer Talks With Arsenal Star by ishoras(m): 5:58am On Jan 26, 2020
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made contact with the representative of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as they seek to lure the Arsenal forward to Parc des Princes during the summer.
The Gabon international has recently dismissed the speculation regarding his Gunners future but there are still doubts whether he would remain with the club beyond the current season.

The forward’s current deal is due to expire in 17 months’ time and his reluctance to pen a new contract could see him head through the exit door during the summer transfer window.

According to L’Equipe, Les Parisiens are keeping a close watch on the situation and they have made initial contact with Aubameyang’s agent regarding a possible summer deal.

Aubameyang is keen on playing in the Champions League during the backend of his career and that remains far from certain with the Gunners next season.

Arsenal are currently 10 points off the top four in the Premier League but they can still qualify for the elite competition by winning the Europa League title this term.

Sports / Arsenal Transfer News: Mikel Arteta Has Jerome Boateng Backup As Plan Is Hatched by ishoras(m): 3:40pm On Dec 29, 2019
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta sees Daniele Rugani as an alternative to Jerome Boateng despite eyeing the Bayern Munich star, reports say. The Gunners are looking at bolstering their squad when the transfer window reopens in January.

Arsenal have conceded 28 Premier League goals this season and, according to the Daily Star, Arteta is keen to sign a centre-back to improve things at the back. Boateng is on his radar, with the Bayern Munich star likely to be available in the New Year. The Germany international is a Bayern legend but has managed just eight appearances this season under both Niko Kovac and Hans-Dieter Flick. Arsenal are supposedly keen to bring Boateng to the Emirates, with Arteta an admirer.

But the Gunners reportedly have Rugani as a backup. The Italy international has struggled for game time at Juventus this season, making just three appearances since Maurizio Sarri’s arrival as manager.

Sports / Mikel Arteta To Be Appointed As Arsenal Head Coach Soon by ishoras(m): 12:20am On Dec 18, 2019
Arsenal's talks with Mikel Arteta are at an advanced stage as the Gunners work to install the Manchester City assistant as their new head coach. The Spaniard is still weighing up a final decision on his future despite more than 24 hours of discussions, including at his Manchester home where Gunners chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and lawyer Huss Fahmy were pictured leaving after 1am on Monday.

Guardiola confirmed on Tuesday Arteta is in talks with Arsenal over their managerial vacancy and stated a few weeks ago he would not stand in his assistant's way if he wanted to take a job as a number one. Talks between the two clubs are ongoing and progressing well, although the Etihad hierarchy are known to be frustrated by a lack of communication from their Gunners counterparts over the past days.

Sports / Arsenal Deny Jose Mourinho Meeting As Pressure Increases On Unai Emery by ishoras(m): 8:13pm On Nov 03, 2019
Arsenal have denied any meetings have taken place between head of football Raul Sanllehi and Jose Mourinho as pressure continues to mount on head coach Unai Emery. A section of supporters have turned on the Spaniard following a run of two wins from their last nine Premier League games. Emery came in for criticism after his side allowed a lead to slip for the third time in a week as they drew 1-1 with Wolves on Saturday. And with continued scrutiny of Emery's results and tactics, speculation over who could replace him if Arsenal wield the axe has led to former Chelsea and Manchester United boss Mourinho being linked to the post.

The Portuguese was in attendance for Arsenal's 3-2 Europa League win over Vitoria last week and reports claim he is keen for another managerial job in England. There was also fresh speculation on Sunday morning Sanllehi had met Mourinho for dinner, fuelling the fire over a potential move for the 56-year-old.

Sports / Unai Emery Is Done At Arsenal' by ishoras(m): 7:52pm On Nov 03, 2019
Unai Emery has reached a point where his position at Arsenal is untenable. Emery's Arsenal are on a run of 11 points from their last nine games, have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and failed to win either of back-to-back home games with Crystal Palace and Wolves, on top of an increasingly divisive atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium where captain Granit Xhaka was booed off last weekend. Newspaper reports have suggested the Spanish manager's job is under threat with Jose Mourinho touted as a potential replacement,

The club backed him in the summer to the hilt, and this squad is easily good enough to get in the top four and it will be a failure in Emery's part if they don't. there's easily enough good players there. You look at other clubs, Arsenal have a better squad than Leicester but Brendan Rodgers is a better manager and getting more out of his players. "I think we've reached a point where Unai Emery is done and I don't think they'll sack him until maybe Christmas or top four is out of sight, though. Also, I just feel he was the wrong appointment, it's partly the language barrier but he's never connected with the fans. What are his tactics? Is he a pressing manager, is he counter-attack, is he possession? We just don't know.

Sports / Arsenal's Cursed Captaincy by ishoras(m): 5:32pm On Oct 29, 2019
From William Gallas to Granit Xhaka, the curse of the Arsenal captaincy continues.... Granit Xhaka has thrown his future as Arsenal captain into doubt with his outburst at the Emirates Stadium during the 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
The 27-year-old reacted angrily to his second-half substitution, cupping his ear towards the jeering home crowd as he walked slowly from the pitch before removing his shirt and storming straight down the tunnel. Arsenal captaincy has been dogged by difficulties for more than a decade.

Below are some of the old Club's Captain;

William Gallas
The problems began when Arsene Wenger handed the armband to William Gallas following Thierry Henry's departure in August 2007. It was not a popular decision among supporters and it went down poorly in the dressing room too. Arsenal started the season strongly, but it all unravelled during a fateful 2-2 draw with Birmingham City in February, when Gallas reacted furiously to Gael Clichy's late concession of a penalty and staged a sit-down protest in the centre circle at St Andrew's after the final whistle. His behaviour was heavily criticised, with Lehmann likening the defender to a "sulky child" and revealing he clashed with Gilberto Silva in the dressing room afterwards. Gallas kept hold of the captaincy initially, but was stripped of the armband after criticising team-mates in November 2008.

Robin van Persie
Robin van Persie's captaincy was a similar story - although it left a far more bitter aftertaste. The Dutchman, who finally seemed to have put his injury issues behind him in the previous campaign, produced the best season of his career as Arsenal's captain in 2011/12, scoring 30 Premier League goals and scooping the domestic player of the year awards. But it soon became apparent that he was unwilling to sign a new contract, leaving Arsenal with little choice but to cash in before losing him for nothing a year later. His decision to join Manchester United, and the publication of an ill-judged statement, was met with predictable fury by supporters.

Thomas Vermaelen
The decision to name Thomas Vermaelen as captain seemed logical at the time, but the Belgian's form suffered after he took the armband in the 2012/13 season, eventually costing him his place in the side as Wenger favoured a centre-back pairing of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.
Vermaelen remained club captain in the following season, but he struggled to recapture his best form and his efforts to win back his place in the team were not helped by injury issues. He departed for Barcelona in 2014 having only made 21 appearances in his final campaign in north London.

Mikel Arteta
Mikel Arteta helped Arsenal through a difficult period following his arrival from Everton in 2011, but his captaincy, confirmed after Vermaelen's departure in August of 2014, was blighted by injury. The Spaniard only made 11 starts in the 2014/15 season due to a calf injury, and while he did sign a one-year contract extension ahead of the following campaign, his fitness problems persisted, limiting him to only two starts in all competitions all season. He made his final appearance as a substitute on the final day of the campaign before turning down an offer to join the Arsenal coaching staff in order to work with Pep Guardiola's at Manchester City.

Per Mertesacker
Arsenal fans were left scratching their heads when Wenger opted to hand the armband to Per Mertesacker in the summer of 2016, despite the centre-back being sidelined by a serious knee injury. The German was a fan favourite who had been a loyal servant to the club, but his injury problems meant that, in two years as Arsenal's captain, he only made 14 appearances. That total included a man-of-the-match showing in the 2017 FA Cup final win over Chelsea, but Mertesacker retired a year later and now heads up the club's academy.

Laurent Koscielny
Before Granit Xhaka, there was Laurent Koscielny. Like Mertesacker, the centre-back was injured when he was appointed as captain in August of last year, but he did at least return to fitness in the second half of the campaign, helping Unai Emery's side reach the Europa League final and putting his body on the line to help the team. The Frenchman was viewed as a model professional after almost a decade of distinguished service, but he reacted angrily when a transfer request was rejected in July, refusing to join the club's pre-season tour and eventually forcing through a move to Bordeaux. His exit paved the way for Xhaka to take over, but the midfielder's Emirates outburst has left many fans wondering whether he should follow in his predecessor's footsteps.

The curse of the Arsenal captaincy continues.....

Sports / Should Arsenal Strip Granit Xhaka Of The Captaincy After X-rated Outburst? by ishoras(m): 10:11pm On Oct 28, 2019
Should Arsenal strip Granit Xhaka of the captaincy after x-rated outburst?

Arsenal‘s Granit Xhaka could not hide his frustrations as he was substituted off to a chorus of boos on Sunday afternoon.

The Emirates crowd let loose on Xhaka, seemingly because he trudged off the pitch rather than sprinting off while the Gunners were drawing 2-2 with Crystal Palace.

The Swiss international prompted to goad the home fans, gesturing them to increase the volume with his arms, then cupping his hand to his ear before appearing to tell them to “f*** off” and then removing his shirt before walking straight down the tunnel.

But should Xhaka face the embarrassment of having his armband removed for the incident? Or should the skipper be excused?

Sports / Ten-man Arsenal Fight Back For Victory by ishoras(m): 6:49pm On Sep 22, 2019
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's dramatic winner helped 10-man Arsenal complete a stunning late comeback to beat Aston Villa 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners suffered an early setback when John McGinn gave Villa the lead in the 20th minute and things went from bad to worse for the hosts when Ainsley Maitland-Niles received his marching orders for a second bookable offence just before the break.

Nicolas Pepe's first goal for the club gave Arsenal a lifeline in the 59th minute, but Villa regained the lead 89 seconds later through Wesley and looked on course for a famous victory.

But their resistance was finally broken in the final 10 minutes as goals from substitute Calum Chambers (81) and Aubameyang (84) secured Unai Emery's side a vital three points to move them up to fourth in the table.

Sports / Danny Welbeck Sends Warning To Arsenal Ahead Of Premier League Reunion by ishoras(m): 1:29pm On Sep 13, 2019
Danny Welbeck says he won’t allow his reunion with Arsenal to cloud his thinking ahead of playing them on Sunday. Welbeck left the Gunners in the summer on a free transfer after Unai Emery opted not to renew his contract.

Emery had been fond of Welbeck but their relationship was cut short when the forward broke his ankle against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League. The 28-year-old was able to resume full training by the end of the season but Arsenal decided to let him go. After just four league games, Welbeck has a chance to prove himself to Emery and Arsenal. Welbeck is yet to start for Watford this season but has made two appearances off the bench and the England international says he will give everything to get three points for his new club.

Welbeck told watfordfc.com: “I’ve played against former clubs before, like Manchester United when I was at Arsenal, and now I’m going to be coming up against Arsenal for the first time since I left.

“At the end of the day it’s another game – 11 players on a football pitch against another 11 players – so I’m going to give my best and try to win.

“Paul McGuinness, my youth team manager at United, would always say ‘play the game, not the occasion’ and that’s something that’s always stuck with me. “So I’m not going to allow the occasion to get into my head.

“Someone said the other day that maybe the script is written for me to score my first Watford goal against Arsenal, but the script writers aren’t playing the game so I’m just going to give my best and try to win the game for Watford.”

During the international break, Watford sacked Javi Gracia and replaced him with former manager Quique Sanchez Flores and the Spaniard says he is looking forward to being back at Vicarage Road at the weekend.

“It’s amazing. I know when I was coaching other teams, I know they still sing my name. It was completely emotional,” he said.

“I was really happy with that. They are still really pleased and love them. I created an amazing connection. I am not the main protagonist – that is always the players.

“They have to play well to win the matches, but I prefer to have this kind of contact and feeling with the fans. It’s always important.”

Fashion / Tips On How To Grow Long, Healthy Nails by ishoras(m): 7:33pm On Aug 26, 2019
Let's be honest, a beautiful set of, long, natural healthy nails looks classy and sexy. Immaculately manicured long nails say a lot about your personal style and confidence. We know growing long, healthy nails can be a challenge. Our simple tips show how you too can have a beautiful set of long natural nails.

First a quick biology lesson:

Your nails grow from the area under your cuticle called the matrix. The matrix is the living part of the nail. Your cuticle is the layer of skin that protects the matrix so the cuticle is very important for nail health and growth. As new nail cells grow in the matrix, older nail cells are pushed out toward your fingertips and become hard and compacted. Heredity and health determine how fast nails grow but nails typically grow about 0.1 millimeter a day, which means that it takes a fingernail about four to six months to fully regenerate. Healthy nails are smooth, without ridges or grooves. They're uniform in colour and consistency and free of spots or discoloration.

Did you know: Nails grow faster in the summer than in the winter, nails on your dominant hand grow faster, and men's nails grow more quickly than women's, except when a woman is pregnant when nail growth speeds up.

How long should my nails be ?

This is obviously very much a matter of personal choice but a couple of things to bear in mind:

The optimum practical length for your nails depends on your activities and your lifestyle. In general the nail tip should extend no further than one third of the body of the nail.

Nails break less often when they are all of equal length and shaped square, oval, or round.

Tips on growing, long and healthy natural nails:

Long nails tip 1: Don't use your nails as tools.

Rather than using your nails use other parts of your hand, or a pen, to perform tasks like dialing the phone. Don't pick, poke or scrape with your nails and especially avoid opening soft drink cans with your nails.

Long nails tip 2: Wear gloves.

Detergents are particularly harsh on your nails and can cause splitting and peeling. Wear gloves when washing dishes or cleaning. You should also wear gloves when gardening to protect your nails from infection and prevent dryness, damage, and loss of natural oils.

Long nails tip 3: Don't bit your nails or pick at your cuticles.

Aside from the obvious reason of biting shortening your nails these habits can damage the nail bed. Even a minor cut alongside your nail can allow bacteria or fungi to enter the nail bed and cause an infection. Remember your nails grow slowly so an injured nail retains signs of damage for several months.

Long nails tip 4: Look after your cuticles.

The cuticle is a barrier that keeps bacteria from the nail matrix, where new cells are generated, so it should not be cut or trimmed. On the other hand you do want to keep cuticles from becoming overgrown, which suffocates nail growth. If your cuticle has grown out on to the nail plate, after sufficiently softening your cuticles in warm water, very gently use a cuticle pusher to push your cuticles back. As well as pushing your cuticles back this will help to remove dead skin and debris that may have accumulated. Hold the cuticle pusher at an angle, and use tiny circular movements, so that you are as gentle and careful as possible and do not damage the cuticle. When you have finished doesn't forget to moisturize your hands.

Long nails tip 5: Look after your nails.

Trim fingernails and clean under the nails regularly. Use manicure scissors or clippers and a nail file to smooth nail edges. Never pull off hangnails - doing so almost always results in ripping living tissue. Clip hangnails off, leaving a slight angle outward.

Long nails tip 6: Caring for brittle nails.

Trim brittle nails after a bath, or a 15 minute hand soak in bath oil, and then apply a moisturiser. Don't use nail polish remover more than twice a month. Instead, touch up the nail polish. When you do need to use a nail polish remover avoid those that use acetone, which dries out nails. Also consider using a nail strengthener and growth formula.

Long nails tip 7: The role of diet.

Unless your diet is deficient in protein and vitamins dietary changes that supposedly strengthen nails won't work. Your nails can however offer telltale signs of dietary problems such as:
Lack of vitamin A and calcium causing dryness and brittleness.
Lack of protein, folic acid and vitamin C causing hang nails
White bands across the nails caused by protein deficiency.
A lack of sufficient hydrochloric acid causing splitting nails.
Insufficient intake of vitamin B12 leading to excessive dryness, very rounded and curved ends and darkening of nails.
Insufficient zinc causing development of white spots on the nails.
Red skin around your cuticles can be caused by poor metabolism of essential fatty acids.

If you are concerned that your diet may not be balanced and healthy you should consult a medical or nutritional professional.

Long nails tip 8: Moisturise your nails.

Nails need moisture just like your hands do. Rub lotion into your nails when moisturising your hands. Be sure to apply moisturiser each time you wash your hands

Long nails tip 9: Use coloured nail polish.

Use coloured nail polish while you are growing your nails. If you prefer a softer look, try a sheer shade. Coloured nail polish helps you become more aware of your hands and how to use them in a way that keeps your nail polish undamaged and hence your nails protected. It also makes chips easier to spot so that you can make immediate repairs.

Long, beautiful natural nails take commitment and special care to grow and maintain. Be patient, the average nail takes 3 to 6 months to grow.

Frequently asked questions:

My nails are weak. What can I do to strengthen them?

Unfortunately, if you have naturally weak nails then it's probably hereditary and you can't permanently change them. You can, however, do things to make them stronger. Try a nail strengthener and growth formula. Many women are confused about how to use these products, so here are a few tips:

Make sure you apply a thin coat. Because you'll be applying it daily you don't want it to build up too much. If you're at the very beginning stages of growing out your nails only use a strengthener and growth formula on your nail plate and apply it every day. Once your nails start to protrude, and you want to apply nail polish, use the strengthener and growth formula as a base coat and as a top coat.

Why do I have ridges in my nails?

Ridges or corrugations (referred to as beau's lines) in nails occur when nail growth is uneven, usually because of illness or injury. Gentle buffing can minimize ridges. A Ridge Filler will also help to level the nail surface, smoothing out shallow ridges and other imperfections.

What causes my nails to turn yellow and how can I get rid of the yellow stains?

Darker coloured nail polish can cause a chemical reaction between the nail polish's coloring agent and the nail plate. This can cause nails to develop a yellowish color. While it is different for every person this reaction can occur in a matter of days or within weeks of wearing the nail colour. To prevent nails from yellowing always use a base coat before applying nail polish. Not only will this prevent staining but it can also extend the life of the nail polish. For already yellow nails soak nails in a solution of 1/2 cup of water and the juice of one lemon for up to 15 minutes, once a week

Why are my nails so flaky around the cuticle beds? What causes this?

Unless you have an allergy to something you are handling it is likely to be dryness which is the cause. It is important to correct this since, as mentioned, cuticles are very important for nail health. You should regularly moisturize your cuticles, and hands.

My nails can grow, but after a while they begin to peel and stop growing. What can I do to stop this?

Many women want long, well-shaped nails, but the stresses of daily life and work may make them a challenge to grow. Your nails could potentially benefit from additional protection when they reach more vulnerable lengths. A nail strengthener and growth formula could assist.

What causes thin nails and what can make them stronger?

When your general health is good and you are not handling strong chemicals that might affect the nails, it is likely to be heredity that produces thin nails. Your nails could also potentially benefit from a nail strengthener and growth formula.

Sports / Arsenal News: Ian Wright Demands Three Players Start Against Liverpool by ishoras(m): 3:10pm On Aug 24, 2019
Ian Wright wants to see Arsenal’s three star attackers start at Liverpool (Image: PREMIER LEAGUE PRODUCTIONS/GETTY)

Ian Wright believes Arsenal boss Unai Emery must pick his three star attackers against Liverpool at Anfield today. The Gunners have started the season well having won their first two Premier League games for the first time in 10 years. Emery brought in a number of new signings in the summer transfer window, including Nicolas Pepe for a club-record fee of £72million.

The Ivory Coast international has been restricted to two substitute appearances so far against Newcastle United and Burnley.Pepe showed glimpses of his quality during the Burnley victory but Wright wants to see the 24-year-old from the start.

He believes the winger can exploit Liverpool full-backs Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson, who have been caught out of position on a number of occasions already this season.

Wright also wants star strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette to play from the outset on Merseyside.

Aubameyang has scored in each of the two opening wins for Arsenal, with Lacazette also netting in the 2-1 Burnley victory.

“I think Arsenal now should know that Liverpool, they came out fast,” Wright told Premier League Productions.

“They come out fast, for some reason against Arsenal they come out even faster. Arsenal have got to be ready for that.

“I think that the midfield, in respect of our midfield now, there’s players in there that I feel are more comfortable on the ball.

“This is why it’s vitally important that Pepe starts and Aubameyang and Lacazette because if we can then win the ball from Liverpool, who are finding their feet, we might be able to get into the spaces that Trent Alexander-Arnold may leave, what Robertson might leave.

“Then all of a sudden you’re giving Liverpool a whole different problem, especially if they’re playing as high as they’ve been playing recently.”
