The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum has alleged that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, who was said to have gone into hiding, is planning to flee Nigeria through the Cameroonian borders.

The organisation said intelligence reports at its disposal had revealed that the pro-Biafran activist was on his way to the Cameroon borders where he could easily escape from Nigeria.

Kanu and top leaders of IPOB were said to have gone into hiding following the declaration on Friday by the Nigerian Army that IPOB and other pro-Biafran groups were terrorist organisations.

The President of AYCF, Mallam Shettima Yerima, in an interview with The PUNCH on Sunday in Jos, said, “We are aware that he is scheming to find a way of escape through Cameroonian borders, which is easier for him to move and run back to where he belongs.

“He is on his way looking for how to run to Cameroon and that we are aware from our intelligence reports.

Council Of Legal Education Replies Kayode Bello, Says It Is Unprofessional For Kayode’s Counsel To Fix Time And Place For Settlement

Y.C. Maikyau  & Co, solicitors to The Council of Legal Education has replied Newworth International Attorneys, solicitors to Kayode Bello with respect to the subject matter of Reconciliation on the case of Kayode Bello v. Council of Legal Education and Inspector General of Police  (FHC/ABJ/CS/717/2017).

The reply which was dated the 13th day of September, 2017 and signed by Nwabueze Obasi-Obi, Esq, was in acknowledgement of the receipt of the letter of reconciliation written by the Solicitors of Kayode Bello to the council and dated the 11th day of September, 2017.
Counsel to the council while acknowledging receipt of the letter however, considered as unprofessional and disrespectful, the invitation to the 1st respondent being the council, led by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, to attend a meeting scheduled on a date, time and place of the applicant’s convenience. According to the wordings of the letter, the applicant’s decision to hold the meeting at the premises of the Federal High Court, clearly suggests the premium placed on the matter by him (solicitor to Kayode Bello). The respondent also stated that although they are not averse to an amicable settlement of the matter as suggested by the Court, they maintain that the action is limited to the enforcement of the fundamental human rights allegedly breached by them. In the respondent words:
“ We are sure you do appreciate the fact that your client’s fundamental rights do not include the rights to be a student of the Nigeria Law School and/or to write the Bar Final Examinations organized by the Council. “

Counsel to Kayode Bello while responding to the reply from the council on the 14th of September, 2017 emphasized that the time and place stated in the letter was only a suggestion subject however to the overriding convenience of the first respondent.

Recall that Kayode Bello had through his solicitors wrote the council for reconciliation between both parties, on the advice of Hon Justice Quadri of the Federal High Court. Following the replies however, settlement between both parties may seem to commence in no time.
