Unknown gunmen have killed over 6 police officers at a checkpoint on the Obeagu-Amechi road leading to Agbani Nkanu with the others scampering for safety.

The gunmen were said to have struck around 7pm Wednesday when the policemen on stop and search duty stopped the vehicle conveying the gunmen.

About four officers were killed as the others fled into the nearby bushes. Their operational vehicle was also burnt down and rifles seized.

The gunmen were reported to have earlier attacked another police post at Amagunze, Nkanu East Local Government Area, Enugu.
