@justwise

This is actually the problem. I don't use my salary account for anything. no other deposit entered that account. I use my savings account for my side business. both accounts are separated and it's clear. the first application I quoted my salary as 100,070, this is what is paid into my account monthly. I submitted my salary account statement plus my savings account but they questioned it. since I had a side business, this time, I added monthly income from the business to my salary hence the 200,070. this is what I filled in the section they asked "what is total income from all source of employment", I also added a covering letter explaining this. I submitted receipts from my side business.

in December, from my salary account, I loan my sister about 200k for her rent because of delay in her salary payment and that of her husband, this they paid back a week later. is this now counted against me? I even explained it in the covering letter which obviously was not read

my question is this, is it compulsory that salary be paid by cheque or transfer from company account? where I work, most of our business money comes in cash, and some of the staffs prefer cash payment which actually saves the company bank charges. I actually insisted along with top staff that our salary be paid into our account for documentation. now they are questioning this

I have a conference to attend in South Africa in April, what impact will this have on my passport .

thank you

I applied for UK visiting visa in February after I was refused December last year, I got my passport back today and was refused visa. again it's the same excuse of not sure the money in the account is mine. last time the ECO stated I had unexplained deposits in one of my accounts. this time I added a covering letter to my application clarifying the deposit in relation to my baking and decoration I do on the side in addition to my salary. I submitted receipts/invoice for this. from the look of this, no reference was made to this which goes to show that the ECO didn't even read the covering letter.

This is my 2nd refusal in 3month. what do I do now.

justwise I need your advice

thank you for what you are doing here.

please help me out here, it's urgent, I applied for UK visiting visa Dec 2016 and was refused based on unexplained deposits in account. am reapplying next week. my question is

1. can I still use the tax clearance I used last year Dec, it expired Dec 31st 2016. it carried (2013,2014,2015) on it, although I had to pay for 2016 before it was issued last year. now I asked to be issued a new one carrying (2014,2015,2016) but am told again to make some payment for 2017 before I can be issued a new one,i didn't plan for this. or should I attach the tax clearance and explain in my covering letter why I don't have a new one

please am filling my visiting visa form. my salary from job is N100,070. side business is btw 30k - 100k.

2. "what is cost of trip personally" I filled £518

3. total amount available for trip I filled £650

4. ticket N180,000

5. since am staying with my cousin who is inviting me, and he is taking care of accommodation and feeding, what should I fill for "cost of accommodation " and cost of living expense.

6. since am paying for ticket, transportation within UK and miscellaneous, what should I fill for "is someone other than you paying for all or a part of your trip "

Thank you so much.

please I wanted to find out if PREVIOUS REFUSAL DECLARATION is different from the COVERING LETTER am writing to explain the different deposits in my account. this was the reason I was refused in December 2016. thank you

thank you so much for your response

yes my business is mostly cash in hand but sometimes I collect deposit and the balance is paid into my account. but in recent months (5mths), it's been paid directly into my account.

1. so what do I declare as my total monthly income since my regular job is N100,070 monthly. my business could vary from 30k to say 120k a month. or should I fill N100,070 as total monthly income and use the remark page or covering letter to explain all this.

2. I have N1.1m in my account now. with money available for trip at N320k. am I good to go.

thank you

1. what should I fill on the form as my monthly income; my monthly regular salary is N100,070. some months, salary + my business could be 150k while the next month could be 160k to 200k. what should I fill as total monthly income

2. I need further clarification on cost of trip and money available for trip. is money available for trip made up of cost of trip + additional money at hand or they are both separate amounts.

thank you
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Isoken2000: 5:18pm On Jan 07, 2017
justwise:
1. That will not be too much if you provide paper evidence to explain the additional income from your side business

2. There must be other options apart from hotel in that form, look for one related to family.

3. If the actual cost of the trip is 300 and you are traveling with 400 then 300 is the cost of the trip while 400 is what available for the trip. If things did not go as budgeted you still have some money to cover up.

4. Add up all your monthly income.

5. That will look desperate, you register a business just about when you about to apply for visa

6. No idea

2. I need further clarification on cost of trip and money available for trip. is it cost of trip + extra money at hand that makes up money available for trip or they are both separate amounts

@justwise thank you for all you are doing on this thread

I was refused a visiting visa in November 2016 as a result of irregular deposits in my account. I plan to re-apply first week of February. I read your suggestion on this thread that we should plan not to spend more the equivalent of 2 months salary or little above that on our planned trip. my question is this

1. Although am applying first week of February, am planning to travel 1st of April, will N350k as cost of trip be too much (my cousin who is inviting me is taking care of accommodation and feeding). the 350k is for ticket, transportation and miscellaneous.

2. in the form, what do I fill in the space for accommodation, feeding as my cousin is taking care of that

3. what is the difference between cost of trip and how much you have available for the trip? can it be the same amount

4. my salary is N100,070 after tax, I bake and decorate halls on weekends and holidays but it not every weekend and the amount is not specific, it can be as low as 30k or as high as 100k. so what do I fill in the space for total monthly income from all source.

5. I also, wanted to find out if I decide to register my business, will they accept it along side with my salaried job, seeing am working full-time but run the business on the side

6. if it's acceptable, and I decide to register it now, I learnt it's only tax receipt I can be given for the year not tax clearance. certificate. will they accept tax receipt

thank you

thank you for all you are doing on this thread. Happy New Year

please am still working on Re-applying for a UK visiting visa invitation February. like I earlier posted, I was refused on the 16th of December 2016 because of un-explained deposits in my account. I posted here that in addition to my regular job, I do baking and hall decorations on weekends and holidays. from my previous post, you agreed I should submit the receipts explaining these deposits in addition to a covering letter.

my question is, will the receipt be acceptable since the business is just on the side and isn't registered or should I just submit only the covering letter.

Pls respond.

thank you

That's what I thought oohh, I did mine at the end of November, as at then they were already preparing their end of year report. The tax office insisted that since the year has practically ran out, they are issuing the one that has 2016 on it. since it was from them, I had to go with it.

I just realized that the 3yrs tax clearance certificate I submitted this December carries 2014, 2015 and 2016, can I use it to apply for my visa in February.

@ justwise. Thank you for your response.

Am actually a woman, wife and mother . Yes the baking and decoration brings in money but it varies, it can be as low as 20k or as high as 100k a month. it isn't specific. I will add the receipt. can I add invoices from where I buy baking and decoration things. also, can I add the documents to our house or plan.

I would have love to add family photos and that of property but I couldn't add picture photographs when I applied because I was told they don't accept pictures anymore.

since I couldn't travel this December, I believe by easter the cost of my trip would have reduced by half. Am sure I would be spending above 380k (ticket and miscillenous inclusive).

these were the documents I submitted before:

6 months payslip.
6 months bank statement from gtbank and first bank account stamped
(both amounts to 800k)
3 years tax clearance
marriage certificate
degree certificate
birth certificate
letter of appointment
letter of promotion
letter of introduction from employer
leave letter

from my cousin
Photocopy of Data page (showing his British citizen status)
employment letter
promotion letter
6 months payslips
6 months bank statement
tenancy agreement
letter of invitation stating he is taking care of accommodation and feeding

Pls note that we are in season now and this is baking and decoration season, I just got a job this morning with almost 60k profit. by January ending, salary plus profit, am sure I will have up to 1.2m in my account

1. Pls if I add those receipts, children birth certificate and property documents, am I good to go.

2. the documents to our house is carrying my name and that of my husband, can I use it. or can I change it for this purpose.

3. should I apply in January ending or February

thank you

TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Isoken2000:
hi justwise,

I got my package today and was refuse 6months visiting visa. The ECO didn't have any other reason than to say I have some unexplained deposit in my savings account and that it wasn't added to my monthly income, as such he wasn't sure if the money belong to me and wasn't sure I will come back.

I didn't add the monthly deposit in that account to my monthly income because what goes in there isn't fixed and because it's not my salary account (current account), I only added that account statement because I planned to use some of the money in that account for my trip. am on a salary of N100,070 after tax. But sometimes during weekends, am involved in hall decorations and baking. that's what the savings account is for.

I had N800k in my account when I applied and filled that am using 700k for my trip and shopping, am staying with my cousin who is inviting me and he is also taking care of feeding.

my question is what should I add as I plan to apply late January as against Easter. can I provide receipt issued for the moneys paid into that account, can I write a covering letter explaining what the account is for, also can I add my children birth Certificates as one of my strong ties to return, Pls what should I do.

thank you
