Tjra: Nairaland isn't faceless as you may think. Be careful what you say online.
If not for you, but for your loved ones who will miss you while incarcerated.
You may ask Nnamdi Kanu's wife how lonely she's been since her husband was caged.
I am sure you wouldn't want same for yours. What are you saying.... So you call black white for fear of jail time.. To think of it how many people can actually fit into your jails...because your ilk are in the minority... |
Celebrities › Re: Tax Protests: Kenyans Berate Destiny Etiko For ‘Insensitivity by iswallker(m): 11:53am On Jun 30, 2024 |
WizardOfNG: This is the problem with Africa and the world today. People are now so angry, bitter and frustrated with their own personal situation to the extent they no longer wish to respect boundaries and the rights of others.
Destiny Etiko is speaking about her own people and nation. I.e Nigerians and Nigeria. She did not mention Kenyans, Kenya or anyone else and their nation.
Whatever Kenyans are going through does not mean they turn the whole African social media space into '#Kenyans anger matters' or '# all Africans must share Kenyans frustration'.
They should face their matter and leave destiny alone. They are acting like religious fundamentalist always seeing 'disprespect' of their God and religion everywhere and in everything. Petty people. In her social media handles where there are Kenyans and many other nationals she has to be careful what she posts... Even her response is brainless.. How will you not know there is a protest in Kenya ...except you live in a hole ...claims she doesn't have time for herself...lol...but you have time to copy some crappy posts from uncle Sam... |

Politics › Re: Traditional Institutions Must Be Protected From State Govt’s Excesses – Atiku by iswallker(m): 4:21pm On Jun 25, 2024 |
mrksquare: This post by Mr. Atiku is just for the opticc. He wants traditional rulers to perceieve him as one who could protect their interest.
One of the contradiction of our republic is having traditional institution coinciding side by side with elected government personnel. It shouldn't be so in a country that professes republic.
India upon securing independence abolished it's "raj" system i.e monarchical institution. Today there is no king nor traditional institution in India.
Our traditional institution is one cost centre that is a drain into the resources of the State. Money that would have been plough into ameliorating the plight of the citizens are used to sustain the flamboyant lifestyle of kings.
Nigeria constitution should never capture our traditional institution. And if our traditional institution must remain, it must be under the purview of the state. The British deposed many of our kings during colonial rule. And it is even the template upon independence that the State is using to administer the Local Government at present. ATiku just wants to be noticed. Yes, kings still exist in India, but their roles are largely ceremonial and cultural rather than political. Many of these royal families maintain their titles and continue to be influential in their regions. They are often involved in preserving cultural heritage, running charitable foundations, and managing palaces and other properties, some of which have been converted into hotels and tourist attractions. Examples include the royal families of Rajasthan, such as the Maharaja of Jaipur, and the Wadiyar dynasty of Mysore. Stop lying on public forums... |

epainos: Take note of the pattern. Here it is.
Incumbents who aren't in agreement with traditional leaders want to destroy them, while oppositions quickly jump to support such traditional leaders.
One thing is clear: These traditional leaders are weapons in the hands of politicians, and they are mostly looting institutions.
The monarchy system of leadership has started dying naturally, and it will not escape it. These obas, emirs, obis, Sultan, etc. must go. They are one of our main obstacle to unity and progress in Nigeria. Naturally, they will die. It's like saying culture will die ... What is left of society... |
