For two defensive mid-fielders to fall back into a flat four if full backs are attacking or creating a solid six-player defensive shield when full backs are not.

Play Romeu and Mikel in the 2 in front the back four. If Romeu and Mikel will be too immobile, play Luiz and Mikel. (One very quick and strong in tackles, the other strong and shields well - both very good passers of the ball). Then Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole in defence. That's as rock solid as it can be. No gung ho shiiit!
