The ICT solution has equally won the World Summit Award (WSA) for Mobile apps held at The wsa -mobile award at Abu-dhabi, thus bringing the country into the global scene of technology innovation.
Known as iPhone, the apps, which was designed and produced by Ihesie Peter Onyebuchi,Soyinka Oluwafemi Jacob was in m-Government and Participation category.
Ihesie was presented to the media at a press conference in Lagos, by the managing director and chief executive of Progamos Softeware Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Amos who has been in the forefront of empowering young Nigerians with ICT skills.
According to Ihesie, the iPolice is a community policing platform designed to engage more Nigerians in making Nigeria a safer country stressing that the mobile app, iPolice provides citizens with an effective way of partnering with security agencies, by reporting crimes and providing valuable information via their mobile phones.
He said that iPolice also supports community-oriented policing efforts by keeping citizens informed of crime and security issues in the neighbourhood where they live or work, thus helping to reduce crime in the community.
He further said that iPolice makes it possible to follow and analyze security and crime trends according to federal state and given location saying that the iPolice app helps locate the nearest police station with address and contact details, for quick and easy crime reporting.
The iPolice, he noted also comes with special features of the application including security news and alert security tips for safe living; a crime reporting module; an information feedback module; the town and suburb crime history and security report. He added that the ‘Nearest police station’ option gives the user’s location stating that “in keeping abreast of crime and security-related news as it unfolds, Nigerians can learn and contribute to basic crime prevention measures”.

According to Amos, the security of lives and properties is of outmost importance in Nigeria, the feeling of safety and the ability to reach a security officer that will be ready to help in any security situation will not only be appreciated by Nigerians but supported by many.
Hence, he observed that the iPoliceMobile was developed in response to security challenges faced by Nigerians in recent times saying that as a security and safety app the application aims at providing Nigerians and tourist to Nigeria with tools and information to live safely and security conscious.
He stated that the mobile application provides users with benefits and functionalities such “as security tips and education from many security experts from within and outside Nigeria, thereby improving the overall security awareness and consciousness of Nigerians”.
He explained that using location capability of most phones, the app leverages on this to locate the nearest police stations with contact details and phone numbers of the DPO noting that users can also search for any police stations given any location.
He disclosed that the apps also help to access emergency numbers, “iPoliceMobile provides users with a quick dial access to national and most state emergency numbers including but not limited to toll free police numbers, fire service numbers, traffic service, FRSC ,ambulance and vehicle rescue numbers, with this feature, help should be a call away”.
Amos said that with iPoliceMobile the users will get insightful information about the various efforts by the security agencies to making our community safer, stressing, “with this users will appreciate the work being done by our security agencies thus creating a more cordial relationship between the people and the security agencies, which will help them to report or provide more useful information to the security forces that will help them better carry out their duties”.
He called on those who are thinking of security and safety news around the country to embrace iPoliceMobile saying that it aggregates most security news into a central point givers users quick and wide range of information into the security happenings and also a based for data analysis. http://www.compassnewspaper.org/index.php/special-desk/info-tech/12697 |
Romance › Re: Questions To Ask Before You Get Married. by ItGeek(m): 11:23pm On Mar 09, 2013 |
stagger: The questions are too vague. They should be more specific to our Naija setting.
1) Is the lady/guy the type of person who easily gets provoked? 2) How are quarrels and disagreements handled? 3) Is the lady submissive? 4) Does the guy love his wife to the point where he can die for her? Is he sacrificial? Can he decide to trek under hot sun so his wife can have the only car to enjoy the A/c, or is he the type that colonizes the car while his wife jumps around town in public transport? 5) Can the woman take correction or is she the type that is forever shouting back at her man and putting him down publicly? 6) Does the man treat the woman as his help mate or as his subordinate or an article of property? 7) Is the man clean? SOme guys throw their underwear and socks everywhere and expect the jackey horse of a wife to always pick up after him.
Is the man a provider? Will his attitude change if his wife starts to earn more than himself or will he still measure up to standard? Will the woman become heady and uncontrollable when her earning power supersedes that of the man? 9) Can the woman cook and do basic domestic stuff in the house? 10) Is the man a stingy fellow? 11) What is the attitude of the man to his mother and what is the attitude of the wife to her father? This will determine how they relate to the opposing inlaws and to themselves. 12) What is the spiritual story behind both the man and wife? Does untimely death, poverty or some other negative stuff run in the family line?
There are too many important questions to ask. Forget all those stupid janded questions that have no meaning in the real modern day marriage setting in Naija. quote of the year so far, your so spot on. |

Good RDM knows he needs to try something new, bench Luiz and Torres. DS might not have scored, but he taught FT dud lessons in creating space. i strongly agree that DS should lead the line till January, Torres have had his chance. let someone else try. |

Thank God we won, Salient points from the match. 1. Someone should tell the Chelsea board to get that fernandiho dud. He can do a ton for us in that defensive midfield role. 2. We Seriously need a striker, even if it means recalling Lukaku in January, i've lost faith in shekpe keeper. 3. The need to give Ashley Cole a new contract was so obvious yesternight, Shaktar murdered our left flank creating almost all their chances from there. Even if we want to sign a new left back, good left backs don't come easy. 4. RDM should give Moses and Marin game time, both are more natural wingers than the three musketeers, in games like yesterday were shaktar congested the middle of the park when not in possession, we will need them to stretch play. With the first 2, we'll have a team that will be difficult to beat and yet score goals for fun. |

OMO IBO: How many 1 v 1 chances has torres converted in his chelsea career??
As far as my brain can go it reads zilch!
Surely, Torres is bound to succeed at chelsea. No other player has it this easy. I mean, torres can afford to 'hands on waist' for the entire match and still gets picked for the next game.
#iwither you've said it all, we need another striker to compete with him, the mere thought that he'll play no matter what is not good for the team. |
