To help further ensure that users are not subject to unfair terms, only personal loan apps with full repayment required in greater than or equal to 60 days from the date the loan is issued are permitted.

"Upon being notified by law enforcement agencies of the availability of certain money lending apps that were possibly not in compliance with the applicable legal and regulatory framework, Google has already removed about 100 such Apps since December 2020 till 20 January 2021," the ministry says.

Although i doubt Nigeria has yet to make protective laws or set up a protective frame of reference for the vulnerable in her society, India itself has yet to do something about it.

As reported by Moneylife , the apps, which lend small sums between Rs2,000 to Rs10,000, target low-income and financial unsavvy Indians, who fail to realise how quickly their small borrowings can balloon into a huge loan. The harassment that follows has driven many young people to suicide, pushing the police to act. The Union government has still to respond with a clear policy, though.

I don't think it's a death sentence to owe, I see it as about the greatest opportunity to stage a comeback. You won't fight back hard until you are at ground zero-.

If you are pitied at this stage, you are loosing your chance at success. I may be wrong, but it's in this kind of mess I found myself after a first success and I went to borrow more for business only to fall hard into debt.

I stumbled on something that cost me just N5,000. Believe me you, that's the very idea that's became the core of my business up to date. If I've not been indebted, I surely would have missed it.

I did got the loan from a much younger person, N200,000 to pay N250,000 about 7years ago. I fumbled and fell.

Rising again

While in the face of debt, I kept telling myself "I was happy the day I got this loan", I was saying "thank you Peter, even my blood would not have borrowed me this much". Then I declared to myself: "this money was a blessing the day I took it, it will not become a curse".

There was nothing I didn't try, but I finally found a way out. Years later, I checked on the guy who had earlier loaned me. He's not doing fine. His fish pond was working against him but he's seeing something different.

Your brain is dead. The apps will check with the credit bureau before offering anyone a loan and if it's found his bvn has been flagged, it will be denied automatically.

It takes defaulting on just about two apps to come to this phase. How much were you accumulating from app to app to get to the threshold and still being able to access loan?
