But I think Ghana will eventually blink first. The elite won't like to be hit with American travel sanctions.

Luckily Ghana now relies less on Western aid. Unlike before almost half of govt income came from aid.

We can see why Akufo-Addo is passionate about "Africa Beyond Aid" mantra. If you depend on others, they can cut their assistance anytime.

If there are people somewhere who are living on 2000 per day. Why couldn't he live on 4k per day. Seriously, I think it has to do with our mentality, most of us immediately increase our expenditure when our income increases. Erasing the gains you have made.

When you were earning 50,000 per month, you were comfortable in a self-contained, your salary increases to N150,000 per month, you start looking for a 3 bedroom flat when you don't need it. Why not stay in your self-contained for another 3years or so and save the 100k x 36 months which N3.6 million. You didn't die when you were staying in that self-contained earning 50k. You won't die, if you save the 100k extra and continue to live off 50k for a while.
