If the right mode of arrest is followed and the person arrested is found guilty, such an individual should be behind bars, irrespective of the party such an individual belongs to (APC, PDP, APGA) |

Politics › Re: Dasuki And Olisah Metuh's Appearance In Court - The Difference by IVORY2009(m): 8:03pm On Jan 19, 2016 |
Nichobabe: OP the difference is that when you are with EFCC, you get small respect as EFCC cell no be jail just like Dokpasi.
Metuh was with EFCC, but he go court to ask to be free but court send am go prison. When he was in EFCC cell, was he in handcuff?
Now instead of EFCC officer na prison warden dey follow am
Instead of EFCC bus na black maria dey carry am
He for stay with EFCC, if he know Its is so unfortunate that many of us dont know our rights, as a Nigerian citizen by law, you can not be arrested a place in a detention for more than 24hours, it is illegal, its either the case is charged to court or you allow the person go, Mentu is a lawyer he knows that, dat is while he might have refused to stay in the efcc custody, and also to talk, becos anything he says can be used against him, in the court of law. |

When will Fashola be handcuff, until the fight against corruption is cut accross all boards, inrespective of party affiliations, den it will still be regarded as impunity, @ least the last 16yrs of PDP, people like Bode George a big time pdp fellow was sent to prison for corruption related issue, until we see dat happening in this Govt, den the fight against corruption remains selective. |

marlockj: Let me ask you...what is the use of his lawyers then...
Yes rearrested infront or behind the court is no issue...
Efcc knew he will be granted bail n meet the bail hence his rearrest....
I want to ask upon his rearrest was he in efcc custody beyond the stipulated days according to constitution.....
Are you aware you can be arrested with no offence and charge to court, for any fabricated story..it is left from you to defend yourself.....
Efcc can rearrest him with any offence they deem fit, while investigating. Provided he has not stayed in efcc custody without charge, over d day stipulated by constitution....
I understand Wat you mean...Bt this government I think is wiser and smart.... knowing if they let a powerful man Lik him out so soon, he will destroy witnesses, evidence etc....
To me once any thing is done account to constitution.. then is right....
To me Wat I think efcc is doing now is spreading Lik 20 charges and rearresting you as many times as possible.... so that you cnt meet any bail and stay with them till your case is decided...
Efcc n dis government are now smart.... Just a simple question, have you heard of the word "Warrant of arrest" and the question is does the EFCC have such @ as the time of re-arresting that individual @ the front of the court or behind the court like you rightly put it. The answer is NO |
Politics › Re: Court Grants Olisa Metuh Bail by IVORY2009(m): 5:43pm On Jan 19, 2016 |
ayindejimmy: Looters are getting smarter so EFCC need to up their game too. Gone are the days EFCC will arrest one on a 70 count charge.. Now they spread the charges. So once you're maneuver your way from on, they get you on another one, and another one... Main while, you're losing money on hiring attorneys. As a citizen who is always at the receiving end we should make up our mind if we're going to support this war on corruption or oppose it. Every reasonable Nigeria will stand by president Buhari on his fight against corruption, but the manner @ which he President Buhari is going about it is questionable/selective, if the fight against corruption can be uniform accross board, inrespective of party affiliation, you will see all Nigerians both home and abroad supporting this government. |

marlockj: Please I want to ask Wat is wrong with rearresting the same man if he is found wanting in another offence..... the constitution gives right to this....
Sometimes I wonder how we Nigerians think...
You were granted bail and you met the condition next day you rape another man's daughter... tell me Why you shuld not b arrested and taken to court for another bail....
To be Frank with you we shuld not encourage any corrupt leaders, funny enough none of the narialander here are mention in dasuki's case.it means non of us benefitted.. so Why do u Evn Hv sympathy for a corrupt man.. what bad thing is done to him he deserve it....
We shuld 4gt abt pdp or Apc... we shuld feel the pains of the soldiers n other killed citizens...
We are here claiming PDP or Apc Bt we they want to share their money we who Evn voted are not called......
I don't knw Why Ppl some much love PDP or Apc to the extent of dying for them, jubilation, protesting etc. Wen u knw u will not be appointed any minister....
I have Neva seen a politicians son on the street during, after,or before election struggling or hustling, fighting or killing for his father to win, these are people who will benefit ohh..
E cum b Ppl Lik us here.... You're getting things missed up, know one is saying you can not re-arrest someone that has been granted bail by a competent court of law, if he/she is found guilty, but before you can do so, you hv to be able to prove beyond reasonable doubt, have facts and figures to back up reasons for re-arresting the individual, you and I know wat this present "Govt" does in cases of the NIMASA man, he was re-arrested after he was granted bail, right @ the front of the court, and @ as then, the EFCC were still looking for charges against him so many of them, the video is online for you to make reference to. |

akinsbaba2015: . Yes you can comment on such cases but preempting the court is when you pass judgement in either party. The government has not done any of these, it will always be a matter for public discourse which is a vital ingredient of democracy. You simply can't gag the press and the public from analysing issues as they arise. Yes you are correct, but we the public and the Govt has to be careful in doing so, becos the person in question is still innocent. |

akinsbaba2015: . How and where did the government pronounce them guilty. The government has done the proper thing by bringing them to the courts where they'll have an opportunity to defend themselves. The news media cannot be gagged by the government and you can't kill the court of public opinions. Are people not criticizing the government on a daily basis? But when it comes to the issue of the alleged thieves, looters, embezzlers and corrupt individuals the public should not have an opinion about them. NO Can you please answer dis question, when a case is in court, are you suppose to comment on it? And even pronounce the person guilty via newspaper, before the court does so, until such person is found guilty, d person is innocent, let d court do their work, present fact and figures to nail dem, dats all. |

akinsbaba2015: . Even a rapist or petty thief caught in the act is innocent until pronounced guilty by a competent court, let's equate all alleged thieves and embezzlers and tag them as the same. Why do we always want to accord special privileges to thieves in high places. Nobody is saying they should not be "tagged" as thieves especially wen found guilty by a court and not on the pages of newspapers, like we are currently witnessing, 15 governors stole 100 trillions, 8 ministers stole 70 trillions, 30 business men stole 50 trillions etc, the question is has the court find them guilty? No! Less do the right thing, Nigerians will support this present govt on their fight against corruption, if done in d right way, and not on "Newspaper". |

Ola17: Handcuffs are supposedly meant for violent and dangerous criminals. If the government continues in it's desperate effort to humiliate these people and at the end of the day the court fails to convict them, they'd end up turning them into overnight heroes.
Every accused person should be treated with dignity, they are innocent until proven otherwise by a court of law. Newpaper trial Olisa Mentu stole ===> 6 Trillion naira Jonathan stole ====> 30 trillion naira Akpanbio stole ===>10 Trillion naira Amechi ===> stole zero naira Tinubu ===> stole nothing Until a court finds them guilty as charged, dey remain innocent... |
