Several Feared Dead As Bus Carrying Passengers To Late Bayelsa Deputy Governor’s Burial Crashes
An 18-seater bus carrying passengers to the burial of Bayelsa State’s late Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was involved in a fatal accident along the Toru-Orua axis of the Sagbama–Ekeremor Road.
The crash, which occurred on a major route in the area, claimed the lives of more than 10 people, according to initial reports.
Several other passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency medical treatment.
The victims were en route to pay their final respects to Senator Ewhrudjakpo, who passed away suddenly on December 11, 2025, at the age of 60 after collapsing in his office at the Government House in Yenagoa.
His burial is scheduled for today, January 30, 2026, in his hometown of Ofoni, Sagbama Local Government Area, following a series of funeral events, including a Day of Tributes attended by prominent figures such as former President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Douye Diri, and former Governor Seriake Dickson. https://saharareporters.com/2026/01/30/breaking-several-feared-dead-bus-carrying-passengers-late-bayelsa-deputy-governors

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the constitution of a 50-member ‘Wise Men and Women Policy and Manifesto Committee’.
The development was confirmed in a press statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, on Wednesday, following the approval of the committee by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ADC.
According to the statement, the constitution of the committee was subsequently approved by the National Chairman of the party, Senator David Mark, in line with the ADC’s broader commitment to building a serious alternative political platform capable of addressing Nigeria’s deepening socio-economic and governance challenges.
The party said the Policy and Manifesto Committee is made up of a broad spectrum of Nigerians drawn from diverse professional, political and intellectual backgrounds.
Members include former public office holders, seasoned academics, technocrats, policy experts, civil society leaders and professionals with extensive experience in governance, economic management, social development, national security and democratic reforms.
Abdullahi said, “The committee will be chaired by Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, with Professor Pat Utomi serving as Deputy Chairman, while Salihu Lukman will serve as Secretary.
“According to the party, the committee is tasked with articulating a clear, coherent, and credible policy direction that reflects the aspirations of Nigerians and positions the ADC as a serious alternative platform for responsible leadership and national renewal.

PigTormentor: Price of fuel is not supposed to be static. It goes up and down. That's why you have around the world. It is dictated by many factors including cost of global oil and other factors. I understand the dynamics of oil and gas more than you think, how much is a barrel today, going as high as N100 per litre is not good for the economy. |
