Politics › Bandits Abduct Catholic Church Leader, Monarch's Brother In Southern Kaduna Raid by iwaeda(op): 3:06pm On Nov 20, 2025 |
The abducted individual is also known as a church leader within the Kafanchan Catholic Diocese.
Bandits have kidnapped a man, Bitiyock Dominic Yahaya, who is the younger brother of the Paramount Chief of Kataf, Sir Dominic Gambo Yahaya, during a late night attack on Magamiya village in Southern Kaduna.
SaharaReporters learnt that the incident occurred around 11pm on Wednesday in the Zangon Kataf Local Government Area.
The assailants, who shot sporadically, seized the victim from his residence and fled to an unknown destination.
A local source confirmed the attack to SaharaReporters even as the kidnapping was further corroborated by an internal church message appealing for prayers for Bitiyock's safety and swift release.
The abducted individual is also known as a church leader within the Kafanchan Catholic Diocese.
SaharaReporters had days ago reported that bandits attacked the Southern Kaduna region of Kaduna State resulting in the abduction of a Catholic priest and several community members, and the death of one person.
The Kaduna Catholic Archdiocese had stated that the assailants targeted Kushe Gugdu village in the Kagarko Local Government Area, storming St. Stephen Parish and abducting the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Bobbo Paschal.
In a notice to its priests, signed by the Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Christian Okewu Emmanuel, the Archdiocese had confirmed the incident: “I write to inform you of the attack on Kushe Gugdu and the abduction of one of our priests, Rev. Fr. Bobo Pascal, Parish Priest of St Stephen Parish... from his residence during the early hours of today, Monday, 17th of November, 2025.”
Regarding the casualty and other abductions, the Chancellor had added, “During the attack, many others were abducted, and the brother of Rev. Fr. Anthony Yero was killed.
"We call on all men and women of goodwill to join us in praying for their safety and quick release from the hands of their abductors, and for the peaceful repose of the dead. Amen.”
SaharaReporters earlier reported that global human rights body, the Amnesty International, asked the Nigerian authorities to take immediate and decisive action to secure the safe rescue of 12 people, including a pastor of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), abducted by terrorists during a recent attack on Gidan Waya, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The global human rights advocacy organisation, which made the demand in a statement issued on Monday, November 17, on its X (formerly Twitter) account, also confirmed that four people were killed during the attack.
Amnesty International condemned the attack, which occurred on Tuesday, November 11, describing it as the continuation of a longstanding pattern of insecurity and government inaction in northern Nigeria. https://saharareporters.com/2025/11/20/bandits-abduct-catholic-church-leader-monarchs-brother-southern-kaduna-raid

Politics › Terrorists Attack Another Kwara Community, Abduct Four Farmers Day After Eruku by iwaeda(op): 8:40am On Nov 20, 2025 |
This is barely 24 hours after gunmen invaded a church in Eruku, Ekiti LGA. Terrorists have launched yet another attack in Kwara State, abducting four rice farmers in Bokungi Village, Edu Local Government Area. This is barely 24 hours after gunmen invaded a church in Eruku, Ekiti LGA. Sources told SaharaReporters that the latest incident occurred on Wednesday evening while the victims were working on their rice farms during the peak of the harvest season. According to a community source, the attackers arrived suddenly and surrounded the farmers as they were gathering their harvested rice. “It has been confirmed that bandits struck again at Bokungi under the Lafiagi Emirate. Four people were abducted. Information is still emerging,” the source said. Residents said the gunmen operated for several minutes without resistance, forcing the farmers into the nearby bush before whisking them away toward an unknown destination. Community members told SaharaReporters that rising insecurity in Edu LGA has left several farming settlements deserted, as farmers fear attacks during the harvest period — a time when they are most vulnerable on the fields. The Kwara State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement as of the time of filing this report. SaharaReporters previously reported that panic and tears swept through Eruku town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Tuesday evening as terrorists stormed a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor. Sources told SaharaReporters that the attackers invaded the church during a meeting and immediately opened fire, sending worshippers running for cover. Three members were shot dead on the spot before the assailants seized an unspecified number of people. “The gunmen came in suddenly and started shooting. Three people were killed instantly,” one source said. “They gathered others at gunpoint and marched them into the bush. We still don’t know the exact number taken.” The attackers reportedly escaped through bush paths that connect Eruku to neighbouring communities, leaving residents in panic and confusion. https://saharareporters.com/2025/11/20/breaking-terrorists-attack-another-kwara-community-abduct-four-farmers-day-after-eruku |

Nigeria Is In Free Fall; I Can't See Your Government – Dele Farotimi Lambasts Tinubu
Nigerian human rights lawyer and social critic, Dele Farotimi has slammed the President Bola Tinubu-led government, saying Nigeria is in a "free fall" over the escalating insecurity, while the administration has failed in its primary duties of protecting lives and property.
Farotimi made the statement while reacting to the recent attacks in Kebbi and Zamfara States, questioning the government's ability to protect its citizens.
He said, "Nigeria is in free fall, the government AT ALL LEVELS has not only failed miserably in its primary duties to the victims, it has become glaringly derelict, and stands credibly accused of complicity in the multiple crimes being committed against humanity, and its continuing failure to act, invites true anarchy in the country."
He emphasised that the government's inaction invites true anarchy in the country, adding, "The buck stops with you, President Bola Tinubu. Do we still have a country? I struggle to see a government".
SaharaReporters had reported on Monday that no fewer than 25 students of the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, Kebbi State were abducted by bandits.
The terrorists also killed the Vice principal of the school. The state Police Command also confirmed the attack in a statement issued through the Command's spokesperson, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi.
SaharaReporters also reported on Saturday that a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara State, Umar Moriki, was killed by gunmen suspected to be armed bandits.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Saturday morning along the Gusau–Tsafe highway near Fegi village in Tsafe Local Government Area while Moriki was travelling from Gusau to Kaduna.
The state chapter of the APC, led by Tukur Danfulani, confirmed the death, calling it “a tragic loss for both the party and the state.”
According to a statement issued by the Publicity Secretary of the party in Zamfara State, Yusuf Idris, the late APC stalwart had just participated in the party’s stakeholders’ meeting hosted by the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.
On Tuesday morning, SaharaReporters reported that terrorist masquerading as Fulani herdsmen attacked Amadu village in Takum local government area of Taraba state, killing at least six locals in their IDP camp.
The incident which happened on Monday night, has sparked widespread outrage and protests in the village.
Eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that the victims were aged between 27 - 65.
Reacting to the escalating insecurity across the northern region on Tuesday, even in the midst of the United States designation of Nigeria as a country of particular concerns over alleged Christian genocide claims, the human rights lawyer accused government at all levels of complicity in the multiple crimes being committed against humanity.
Farotimi, a vocal critic of the Nigerian government, has been advocating for systemic change and has faced persecution for his activism.
He was recently arrested and detained for 21 days on charges of defamation and cyberbullying, sparking widespread outrage.
Farotimi's statement highlights the growing concern over the government's handling of security issues and its impact on the country's stability. https://saharareporters.com/2025/11/19/nigeria-free-fall-i-cant-see-your-government-dele-farotimi-lambasts-tinubu
