Nice work! Goodjob lalasticlala |
Hi everyone, Has anyone (already in canada) extended study permit and the corresponding spousal open work permit here ? I need info. Thanks |
. |
Hello everyone, finally my husband's application was approved. Now I have a few questions for veterans in this sowp route ![]() 1) My TRV expires august ending and he was given the same duration i.e ( He was given till when my study permit expires) 2) Contrary to earlier plans, I can't finish up until the end of spring (August) invariably I will have to extend my study permit. Now the conditions of extension for me are clearly stated on CIC's website. However, I can not find any information regarding extension of sowp visa for spouse of international students. Now how do we get to extend his own work permit as well since i am extending my study permit and his work permit is dependent on my study permit?? 3) He will be coming in by June, so we have to really cross her i's and t's. Does anyone knows other legal formula to get him to stay just "in "case assuming i am not extending my study permit? I seem not to find any unless he will change his status to a visitor. Please help me ooooo. |
We applied about 4 months ago. Then I had about 9 months left on my trv. Now I will be done ending of this month. Technically, I have 4 months left on my trv. And right now, I am yet to get any job in my field or at least a job that requires a degree. So medical mail was the least expected because of the time left and the long processing time ishhh...... Pinkygrace: |
Oh yes you do. Right now I will be officially done in this month. And my visa expires august......we will go ahead. No I have not gotten any job o. Folaroyal: |
VEIL1234:online 28th november 2016. Thank you |
Folaroyal:Thank you so much. I was really dumbfounded. The situations surrounding our application has too many uncertainties and right now i am still kind of scared. Thank you |
Hi everyone o. My husband got an update from cic today on our SOWP application. Some of the field on the application profile reads: "Review of medical result: We are reviewing the results of your medical exam. "Review of additional documents We do not need additional documents. Note that we have not been requested to do medicals neither did we do upfront medicals. However, they sent him medical report form "IMM 1070E". The content of that IMM 1070E looks like he has been required to go for medicals. Can someone who has pass through this stage explain what is happening? Thank you all. |
Try U of R if the admission is still on skylar2020: |
skylar2020:its rare for the to reject applicants from Nigeria based on ielts score. From the little I know it's not always a requirement for graduates comming from Nigeria. At least I am very sure of U of M. Computer science is abit competitive or anything computing to say the least. Your husband's GPA, experience and availability of supervisor(if thesis)plays an important role. That is why it is always advisable to secure a supervisor before you apply for thesis based admission. Goodluck |

SonOfEl:you have to be open minded to understand my post. As an undergrad in Nigeria, apart from having products of some of this universities as my professor, we at many point had the so called erudite professors come to my school on sabatical and I can categorically tell you that they teach nothing different or new. It's all the same. I had friends as an undergrad in these schools. Majority of them always complain about outdated concepts and teachings just like I do as well. Also, I currently have friends who after graduation went for a masters degree in some of these schools in my own field(I have been making reference to this point). I have heard them complain about the lack of technical teachings. In my opinion it's still the same old wine in refurbished bottle. (at least for my own field). Now about your remark about being a product of a private university;well yes I am a product of a private university a proud one at that. By the special grace of God, I have been on a funded degree right from Nigeria and I have won couple of more. In less than two years I have published two articles in reknown journals and I am a product of private university. Dear friend, I still maintain that if it's any University in Nigeria at all private or public, personal development is the key. They are almost all the same. Good day! |
Anytime I see topics like this, I just shake my head in amazement at how funny people can be. In my opinion and with my experience studying abroad, I will enlighten you abit. The goal is neither to seek personal aggrandizement of any sort or make anyone feel better on any part of the divide. I currently study in Canada and I have to tell you that I have seen first class international students from Nigeria in my field (computer science, computer engineering, mathematics) being expelled from time to time. While some are from the so called federal universities, other are from private universities. It's a general thing most of us find it so hard to cope because of the mode of instruction in Nigeria. Most importantly the quality of the professors(no exceptions). It may interest you to know that I attended a private university before comming here and most of my professors are products of these so called federal universities who knew next to nothing when it comes to applied focused teaching. Some of them can not even write one single line of code. All they know is theoretical and not application. They possibly were taught the same way and it all goes in circles. In my own opinion it's all the same rat race. Those who stand tall are those who have invested their time and resources in personal development by learning the real stuffs needed to thrive and stand competing outside the rotten walls of our institution. What an undergraduate student knows here interms of coding, algorithms and data structures(application wise), a good number of masters students in the Nigerian context knows(only by definitions of terms). The bottom line is go beyond the trash most of them teach, develop yourself and fly high no matter the continent you find yourself now or in the future. At the end of the day, it's not about the name of the school it's about what you have made of yourself.I rest my case. |
Queue after such a long time!!!! Woww na only sowp people apply for ![]() boladan: |
boladan:Have you tried reaching out to cic? |
woww 23 weeks! boladan: |
Omonjoe:Financial document is not a requirement. People just do add it just in case. You should review your answers to those question. You may have answered some of the wrongly. |
justwise:Thank you so much! |
You don't deserve a response! Igbouwanile: |
justwise:He works and has his own business in Nigeria. Without my input he will be able to sponsor himself |
Gymme:Thank you so much. I know its a bit late going by the recent trend of two months. If we submit today then we should expect response by sometimes in January. By then, I will have about 3months to graduate and 6month to TRV expiration. The chances of approval looks slim. I believe 6 months 1year is good including processing period. As regards the O,A or B Job, no one knows how sooner getting a job will be. I can't just imagine having to live indefinitely like a spinster when I am married. I have not even had honeymoon. I am just confused. Thanks anyway |
I NEED ADVISE O ABEG Hi everyone, I need urgent advise on what to do. I am currently a graduate student in Canada. Recently I came to Nigeria to marry my fiance of 4years. Prior to my arrival we had plans of bringing him over to Canada through the SOWP. I have told him about the whole process, getting some cash for fixed deposit and all. This was in a bid to save time because I am being mindful of the time left on my TRV. Unfortunately after our wedding, he could not raise his own part of the proof of finance on time. I know quite well that it is not a requirement but then we needed to cross our i's and t's. Right now, we have all the required document. However, I am 5 months away from graduation(April) and 9 months away from expiration of my TRV(August). I am not sure if we should still go ahead with this application, or let him apply for visit instead. I am utterly confused and I really need advise. cc oga siga , onyeoma8, oga akanni oga justwise, oga chrigo everybody help o! |

This is really deep richiepolymer: |
That moment, my calmness superseded that of River Oni in Efon Alaaye Ekiti state. That innate fear of death we were all born with just vanished, and nothing really mattered any more. But the thought of how they are going to deliver my dead body to my family petrified me. I could visualize my brother or my sister already claiming my body in tears. I pitied the struggles of my parents but what do I do? I muttered to myself Mum, Dad, and Siblings….this is where it all ends. I love you so much. I wanted to reach for my pen to write down my own epitaph but I could not find my pen. I began to wonder what becomes of all my mahogany tall dreams of the future I have always envisioned. So condolence registered will be opened? Just like that? I thought I was going to be another case of many that were born talented but die unknown. That moment I knew the whole lot that makes us human is just pure vanity. I had no choice than to close my eyes with the expectations of opening them in the afterlife. Wowww this is touching. i bet this experience changed your outlook on life in general......Lalasticlala |
Hi everyone, I am an international student in Canada at the moment and i have a US visa as well. I am coming home to Nigeria to visit and the cheapest airline i seem to get is British airway that is gonna fly through UK and have a layover in London. My question is do i need a transit visa? What i read on Uk's website isn't clear enough. Thanks |
