The real amount for the construction of the bridge is N6.4b..the 14.6 billion is from APC .
Ekiti State Government on Wednesday says it has spent N6.4 billion on the just completed 1.3 kilometre overhead bridge in Ado Ekiti.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the State Commissioner for Finance, Chief Toyin Ojo, said at a news conference on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti said that the amount was far below the figures being peddled about by the opposition.


Giving a breakdown of the expenditure, Ojo said that the cost only increased from the initial estimate of N5.2billion to N6.4b to accommodate additional expenses that were not captured in the initial budget for the project.
He said this included the extension of the bridge, beautification of the area, construction of alternative roads as well as payment of compensation to owners of properties that gave way for the project.
Ojo said the project was part of the administration’s urbanisation programme adding that the bridge would ease traffic flow and decrease time wasted by commuters.
He said the state government would continue to work towards improving the lots of the people in spite of the financial constraints.
The commissioner also said government had set a benchmark of N400m as its monthly Internally Generated Revenue to ensure execution of its projects.
He appealed to the federal government to refund the expenses incurred by the state government for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of federal roads in the state.

Ekiti State did not receive N11bn from FG
Our APC friends are still trying to sustain their lies that FG paid Ekiti govt N11bn for federal roads constructed. They have even issued Press Statement in my name.
Question is: Could the FG have paid N11bn to Ekiti State without the major media houses reporting it?
Fact is, no N11bn was paid to Ekiti State and interested members of the public can check Federal Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Works and Accountant General of the Federation WEBSITES.
Between 2004 and 2014, Ekiti State government spent a sum of N15, 720,513,024.08 on construction and rehabilitation of federal roads in the State, out of which N3.5bn was refunded.
N1.5bn was refunded in November 2004 while N2bn was refunded in December 2007.
The total refund still due to Ekiti State is N12.2bn.
Since 2007, no refund has been made to Ekiti State by the FG.
It should be recalled that in 2015, these same APC people went town with the story of FG refunding N22bn to Ekiti State.
The mischief in their heads didn't let them realise that FG only owed Ekiti N12.2bn. How could FG that is owing N12.2bn have refunded N22bn?
Since the devilish suit they filed in Abeokuta, Ogun State, asking the FG not to pay the N12.2bn owed Ekiti State to the govt of Fayose was exposed, the APC spin-doctors went to town with the lie that N11bn was paid.
Finally, I wish to state once again that no N11bn was paid to Ekiti State. In fact, court papers on the suit filed by Fayemi's former Commissioner for Finance, Dapo Kolawole was served on the govt last week Friday and effort is now being made by the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to respond to the suit.
Ekiti people, especially the public servants should therefore discountenace any report on Social media, claiming that N11bn was paid to Ekiti State by the FG.

The intrigues arising from a special PDP meeting called by the former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja today are going to shape the public discuss either negatively or positively.

Alimodu Sheriff who arrived late at the meeting venue at the Shehu Yaradua Centre insisted that Markarfi must leave the high table and join the crowd. It took the intervention of the former president and convener of the meeting to appeal to him and all aggrieved members to give peace a chance but this was defied by Sheriff who rained abuses on Jonathan and other leaders of the party in return. It was gathered that Godswill Akpabio later stood up voluntarily for Sheriff to seat down but Governor Nyesom Wike insisted that Sheriff must not have his way but must obey and respect the former president who according to Wike is the national leader of the party and convener of the meeting. It was on this premise that Nyesom Wike in protest left the meeting insisting that he can not remain at a meeting where the former President will be insulted by anyone.

During an interview with the press outside the Hall, Sheriff boasted that he remains the national chairman of the party and that GEJ had no right to direct him or the party. He went on to state that he will not attend to any committee set up by GEJ outside the Seriake Dickson committee. When asked why he disrespected the former President, he claimed that the former president did not respect him and so he saw no need to respect him because respect is reciprocal.
