Honestly, I find this quite ironic. The countries Nigerians are relocating to did not spend millions of naira running campaigns to convince people to move there. They invested in creating functional systems, stronger economies, better opportunities, security, and an environment where people can thrive. As a result, people naturally chose those countries. Now, Nigeria wants to spend ₦252 million sensitising youths against japa. The real question is: are Nigerians leaving because they have not been sensitised enough, or because of the harsh realities they face daily? Instead of spending such a huge amount telling people not to leave, why not channel those funds into creating jobs, improving security, supporting businesses, fixing infrastructure, and making the economy more attractive? When a country becomes a place where people can build a decent future, there will be less need for anyone to persuade citizens to stay. People do not run away from opportunities; they run towards them. The solution is not more sensitisation. The solution is creating a Nigeria that people genuinely want to remain in. |
Sirchiboy:Yes, I have. After my NYSC, I got a job in Abuja through a friend. The pay was so poor that despite working, I still had to call home for financial support just to survive the month. Eventually, I left and returned to Uyo. By God's grace, one of my former bosses employed me, and things started looking up again. I worked there for about a year. Then, in January this year, barely two days after resuming from the Christmas break, we were called into a meeting and informed that the company's contract with the state government had been terminated. We were all asked to go home. That day changed everything for me. The job was my only source of income, and my house rent was already due. Within a short time, I lost my income, lost my apartment, and had to move in with my brother in Cross River State, who was also struggling to make ends meet. I won't pretend it was easy. There were days I felt completely lost and broken. I prayed, fasted, and kept hoping for a breakthrough. I'm still rebuilding my life today. So when people talk about going from grace to grass financially, I understand exactly what they mean. It is a painful experience that humbles you and changes the way you see life. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But I also believe that difficult seasons do not last forever, and I trust that better days are ahead. As I write this, I am still actively seeking employment and opportunities. If anyone here knows of any opening or is willing to give me a chance, I would be deeply grateful. I am ready to work, learn, and prove myself. My sincere hope is that sharing my experience might reach someone who can help me get back on my feet. Thank you, and may God bless every helping hand. |
NaijaNaWaa:Here is what started the whole controversy. Years ago, the tax returns of Donald Trump were leaked to the media. In the United States, tax records are supposed to be highly confidential. The IRS (America’s tax agency) is not allowed to expose them publicly. A contractor working with the IRS illegally leaked Trump’s tax information to news organizations. That leak became a huge political scandal because people could suddenly see details about Trump’s income, taxes, and businesses. The contractor was later criminally charged and sentenced. Trump sue the government, He argued: “The government failed to protect my private tax records.”So he sued the U.S. government and originally demanded about $10 billion in damages. His argument was basically that the IRS had a duty to protect his records, They failed and his records where leaked, and that had harmed him politically and personally. Normally, when the government settles a lawsuit: the person suing gets money directly, or the government quietly pays compensation. But this case became very unusual. Instead of:“Here is money for Trump,” the reported agreement became: “Create a massive fund for people who claim they were politically targeted by the government.” That proposed fund is around $1.8 billion. |

DeepSight:I understand your point, and I honestly thought about taking legal action. But in our system here, these things usually involve money and long processes, and I currently do not have the resources to pursue it properly. For now, I’m focusing on my younger one’s recovery and wellbeing. I appreciate your concern though. |
Dimehook:wow 😲.. this is wisdom. |
SmartPolician:Here’s what I’ve come to realize: Even if destiny exists, effort still matters. A prophecy may point to potential, but hard work is often the process that brings that potential to life. Confidence, discipline, opportunity, timing, resilience, and the way people treat us all shape outcomes. A seed may be destined to become a tree, but it still needs water, soil, and time. Hard work doesn’t guarantee success, but it increases the chances that when opportunity comes, you’re ready for it. We may not control every outcome in life, but we influence our direction, our growth, and who we become along the way. |
RealityKings1:hahaha 😂😆 this is really funny... |
DeltaBachelor:Thank you very much for this comment. Honestly, this is one of the perspectives I needed to hear because I have been judging myself harshly since the incident happened. |

Good evening fellow Nairalanders. Something happened today that has really made me question myself as a man, and I sincerely need honest advice from mature minds here. Earlier today, my younger one went to the field to play football. After some time, he came back home crying seriously with blood rushing from his head. According to him, he had an altercation with someone much bigger than him, and the person picked up a stick and hit him on the head. Immediately, I became angry and asked him to take me to the field to identify the person that injured him. Deep down, I was expecting myself to react aggressively because I felt any normal man would naturally defend his younger one and confront the person strongly. When we got there and I saw the guy, something happened to me. Instead of fighting or causing a serious scene, I just started asking questions about what happened. I couldn’t bring myself to react violently or aggressively the way many people probably would have. I eventually carried my younger one and went back home. Since then, I have been feeling ashamed and disappointed in myself. The painful part is that this is not the first time I have noticed this about myself. I always seem to avoid problems, confrontations, or situations that may escalate. Even when I am angry, I still start thinking about consequences, expenses, police issues, public embarrassment, injuries, and other complications that may arise if things get out of hand. Because of this, I often withdraw instead of standing my ground fully. Now I am beginning to feel like I am too timid and not confrontational enough as a man should be. Sometimes I feel weak, powerless, and unable to command respect the way other men do. I see some people react boldly in difficult situations while I keep overthinking consequences and avoiding escalation. Honestly, it is affecting the way I see myself. Please, I need sincere advice from experienced people here: - How can someone stop being too timid or fearful? - How do you become more confident and confrontational when necessary? - How do you stand your ground as a man without always retreating? - Is this kind of behavior weakness, or is there another way to look at it? - What practical things can I start doing to become mentally stronger and more assertive? I would genuinely appreciate honest advice, especially from men who may have struggled with similar issues before overcoming them.

ARISHEM:nope. toppling the country isn't in the agenda of the Kurdish militias what they rather want is to break-away.. (secession) like Biafra wanting to break-away from Nigeria). the USA on the other hand wants a regime change in Iran so arming the Kurtish militias could probably play some part in the regime change ... However here are some of the Possible Implications:* *Escalation of Conflict*: Iran might retaliate with increased military action, potentially targeting Kurdish regions or US interests in the area. *Regional Instability*: The involvement of Kurdish forces could lead to a wider regional conflict, drawing in neighboring countries like Turkey, Iraq, and Syria. *Humanitarian Concerns*: The conflict could result in significant displacement and human rights abuses, particularly against Kurdish civilians. *US-Iran Relations*: Arming Kurdish forces could further strain US-Iran relations, potentially leading to increased tensions and diplomatic isolation. *Kurdish Goals and Concerns*: - Kurdish groups seek autonomy or independence, but their divisions and competing agendas might hinder a unified effort. - Some Kurdish leaders express concerns about US abandonment, citing past experiences *US Interests*: - The US aims to pressure the Iranian government and potentially topple the regime. But analysts has warned that arming Kurdish forces might not guarantee success and could lead to unintended consequences |
incogni2o:Let's break it down using the current cost per share of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc (MTNN), which is N760.00 If you invested N1,000,000, you'd get approximately 1,315 shares (N1,000,000 ÷ N760.00). The proposed dividend is N20 per share, so your yield would be: N20 per share × 1,315 shares = N26,300 Just like someone mentioned above investing in shares is not for the poor bro. |
Love800:of course yes, the company takes care of your medical bills. Though there are limitations to the health challenges the insurance can cover eg most company HMOs will not cover pregnancy, erectile dysfunction and medical challenges that requires traveling abroad |
Ebenezer2021:health management Organization (Health Insurance) |
TheDemola:from that place to calabar is not up to 20minutes drive |
IronCondemned:it exists...it's around udukpani junction, when going to Akamkpa LGA. Not in calabar maintown |
ruzell86:thank you brother. God bless you for your remarkable contribution |
Hello everyone, good morning, happy weekend, happy new month and happy new year to all of you beautiful family of Nairaland.. I'm reaching out in the hopes of finding some support and guidance during this particularly challenging time in my life. As the new year begins, I'm facing a perfect storm of financial difficulties, depression, and anxiety following the loss of my job. After completing my national youth service, I was fortunate to secure a job that provided me with a sense of purpose and stability. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the contract between my employer and the state government was terminated, and I found myself among the laid-off workers. The sudden loss of my only source of income has left me feeling lost and overwhelmed. I'm struggling to make ends meet, and the pressure to support my mother's healthcare needs is weighing heavily on me. To make matters worse, my house rent is due on February 2, 2026, and I'm unsure about how I'll manage to pay it. I'm finding it difficult to cope with the stress and uncertainty of my situation, and I'm in desperate need of guidance and support. If anyone has experienced similar challenges or has any advice to offer, I would be grateful for your insights. I'm eager to take steps towards improving my situation, but I'm not sure where to start. If you have any suggestions or know of any resources that could help, please share. Your support and guidance would mean a lot to me. Best regards,

DeloitteNG:Thanks so much for your kind gesture! To be honest, I'm a bit strapped for cash right now. If I could just get some help with food and a new outfit for Christmas, that would be a huge blessing. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year in advance! |

Callosobruchus:That's a clever joke! The answer, of course, is "none" – a bird's weight doesn't ground a flight. Planes are grounded due to weather, mechanical issues, or air traffic control decisions, not bird weight! How ever Bird strikes can ground flights due to safety concerns, regardless of the bird's weight. Here's why: Causes of Bird Strikes 1. Engine damage: Birds can be sucked into engines, causing damage or failure. (Engines draw in large amounts of air to generate thrust, the engine's inlet creates a low-pressure zone, pulling air in together with birds that fly near airports unaware of aircraft movement) 2. Windshield damage: Birds can crack or shatter windshields, impairing pilot visibility. 3. Airframe damage: Birds can collide with wings, control surfaces or other critical areas. Consequences 1. Engine failure: Can lead to loss of power or control. 2. Loss of visibility: Impairs pilots' ability to navigate. 3. Structural damage: Compromises aircraft integrity. Safety Protocols 1. Immediate landing: Pilots must land as soon as safely possible. 2. Inspection: Aircraft undergoes thorough inspection for damage. 3. Repair or replacement: Necessary repairs or part replacements are made. Even small birds (e.g., sparrows, pigeons) can cause significant damage. The weight of the bird isn't as crucial as the potential impact on critical aircraft systems. Sources: 1. International Air Transport Association (IATA) 2. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 3. Great minds of nairaland I have been really worried with thaught on how to be earning some foreign currencies to support oneself in this harsh economy ...so I imagined how we could possibly take advantage of this Facebook monitization eligibility status conferred on us recently... I suggest we form a syndicate or a pool of at least 200 serious minded people for a start, each and every one with a Facebook page...we could individually create content (just do a video of anything at all) and post on your page then notify us on maybe a Whatsapp group then we all rush to your page and generate traffic with comments.... Great minds of nairaland can we please come together, strategize on this and see how to make fortune out of this golden opportunity? If you are game please indicate let's create a Whatsapp group and start asap. |
