No I was not interviewed. In the last 10 years I’ve been to the uk 5 times and before then, more times. So I had pretty decent travel history to the UK which helped. I even attached the Canadian refusal letters. I was very transparent and I trusted God

Thanks... I actually declared that in my application. Just that I didn’t upload the refusal letter. Hope I’m still good to go

You can actually apply for masters in psychology directly instead of pgd. I feel that reduced your chances

Ok looking at the money I have (26k CAD), though I have paid part tuition, how much will a masters degree in psychology cost and how many years

I regret to hear your study visa was rejected based on the reasons stated in the refusal letter. Please can you provide a detailed breakdown with information relating to your choice of program, sponsor, previous undergraduate degree. This will enable me advice you accordingly on how to address the concerns of the visa officer. In the meantime, I will urge you to order for your GCMS notes so we can have a clearer picture as to the reasons behind the delay of your application.

It will end in praise

Choice of program
Applied for Human Resources management. (PGD)

Previous academic standing
Had my first degree in social work. Graduate with a CGPA of 4.11. Wanted to switch back to management as I have always wanted so I decided to go for a psychology related field. HRM was the closest for me so I applied and gained admission.

Sponsor
My mother is my sponsor. She has about 3.6 million in her naira account and 10kUSD in her dollar account. Both in first bank. The naira account Has over 11million running through 12months. Also have some landed properties worth about 18million in her name.

Lekiboboe:

While you await your GCMS notes,

From what you stated here,

I don't know if Social Work is Related Human Resources Management and even if it does, it's very likely you didn't tailor your Social Work degree with your intended program (HRM) in your SOP.

Possible solution is this
1) The possible connection of Social Work & HRM is this
Social work administrators are proactive leaders in public and private agencies that provide services to clients.

Many elements of this area of social work practice are common to administration in other organizations. However, administration and management also require knowledge about social policy and the delivery of social services, vision for future planning, an understanding of human behavior, and commitment to social work ethics and values

2)This no. 2 seems like your best shot,
With your SOCIAL WORK degree, it's expected of you to go for a related PG. Program

E.g

- Addiction & Mental Health
- Community and Social Services Management
- Community Disorder Assistant etc.

Do a google search on more programs that is related to Social Work , then look for colleges that's are offering them in Canada

3) About Work Experience,

Your NYSC is a Work Experience even though there is 85% chance the work you did during your service year is not in any way related to your field of study. Despite that, you still have to talk about it.
e.g where you were posted to, job duties etc. and show documents of your NYSC one year work experience

E.g
- Call-Up Letter
- NYSC Posting letter (Showing you were accepted)
- NYSC ID card
- Recommendation letter from my PPA (Place of Primary Assignment) - IF AVAILABLE
- Pictures of you at your PPA
- Discharge Certificate

You would also explain how NYSC is mandatory program for Nigerian graduates in which they are posted to states other than their state of origin where they are expected to mix with people from different ethnic groups, social and family backgrounds, and learn the culture of the indigenes in the location and they are posted to.

You would explain the work (Job duties) you did in your PPA aswell

Do await more inputs and suggestions from other members in house

Yea No1 is the reason I wanted HRM cos I wanted to study Economics but you know Nigeria university and how it goes

Based on NYSC I was posted in a secondary school in the north... though I can make relationships with social work and my NYSC work description

And about No2 I don’t want it cos I don’t like the courses entirely but if it will work best for me then I wouldn’t mind. But doing what I know best, HRM is something that can go.

Meanwhile I am reading through the link you shared. Also Wouldn’t getting a new admission affect my application even if I have to go for No2

Lekiboboe:

So sorry about your Refusal

To rectify this issue,

You would need to order for your GCMS Notes (which would take 28-35 days to get) so as to see the VO's comment/assesment about your application. Your GCMS note will show the reasons why you were refused cos the refusal reasons on this refusal letter sent to you is a GENERIC one. In a nutshell, so as not to re-apply blindly, get your GCMS Note

It's the content in that VO's Comment on your GCMS Notes you gonna address/tackle

Then you can comeback here to the forum & show the refusal reasons (Screenshot of the bolded VO's Comment), so gurus & members in house will be able to give result-oriented advice/suggestions

While you await your your GCMS notes,

Educate yourself with this content & also watch the videos there, it will be helpful during your re-application

purpose of visit from my experience is that you didn't explain why you want that course and it may have not been in relation with your bsc for that financial thing I dont know. But did you include land documents or so
Yea I did valued for about 18million. It’s for my Late dad But now in my mother’s name

Yteem:

Sorry about this delay. Please do well to request for your GCMS notes. It will give more insight. Don’t be in a hurry to reapply.

Usually for purpose of visit, you need to look critically at your SOP. It might means you have not been able to convince the VO about your work, experience and your intended studies.

Also for finance, if you have all the money and you are not able to adequately show and let the VO see that the money is available and it’s coming from a named source and all that, it might be a problem. So just make sure that you are adequately showing what you have. Give them upfront, don’t make them look for it.

Take time to digest the bites when it comes and the repackage and reapply.

It will end in praise.

To be honest I don’t have a work experience as regards my qualification except field placements. I don’t know if I am correct about this but I think I have read somewhere here that it takes about 35days for GCMS.
I would love to get your review on my SOP, you might be doing me a lot of good with that.
Thank you

I dont think social work and human resources management actually do relate. May be go for something that relates with your bsc. Since you dont have work experience
Ok but if that is the case why did they state that the reason for my refusal is because of the fact that they are not satisfied that I will leave Canada after studies based on purpose of visit, financial status and personal assets
