Please can you explain better?
Neverlosemoney:

I don't know why people are taking this whole dollar to Naira thing too personal.

I believe most people just read about devaluation but have never experienced it, now that they are experiencing a huge one they don't know how to properly deal with it.

It has been said countless time on this very thread; You don't protect against devaluation of a currency by investing in assets denominated in that currency rather you hedge your losses by investing in other currencies.

Thank you.
Mfunkynation:

You don't need to be physical present to do that.
just contact the registrar of the companies you own their shares, get the form from them , fill and submit.
Some registrars have it online on their website

Please can you explain SFS REIT?

I think im abit confused about how REITS work. I wish to invest in SFS REIT as well.

emmasoft:

SFS Capital is the company. They are just like investment one as well. A company that resulted from a management buy out as a result of regulatory policies.
They also have one of the oldest Reit - SFS REIT.

SFS Fund is managed by SFS Capital Nigeria Limited, a product of a Management Buy-out of Skye Financial Services Limited, which operated as the investment banking and investment management subsidiary of Skye Bank Plc. The change began after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) instructed all Nigerian banks to sell off their non-banking subsidiaries. Coincidentally, while the divestment process was in progress, SEC began implementing the rule preventing Asset Management Companies from engaging in other activities. All this combined led the existing management to carve out SFS Capital Nigeria as the Portfolio and Fund Manager for SFS Fund.

Since your wife wants any safe investment SFS is good and you can also check other funds I represent. They are all safe without any equity involvement.

First of all, the tenor of FGN savings bond is shorter than the FGN Bond (2 and 3 years). Thus, it is matures earlier and you can recoup funds earlier than the bond.

Secondly, the amount required to invest directly as an individual in FGN savings bond primary market auction is lesser (from N5,000 to N50,000,000) than that of FGN Bond which is from N50,000,000 and above.

Thirdly, coupon payment for savings bond is quarterly as against the biannual payment for the FGN Bond. So it is you do more regular plans with the coupon of the savings bond.

Also, that rate s/he got it was the prevailing market rate as at the time that investment. Rates were generally low then, even treasury was like between 6-7% for 365 days. Though the FGN Bond rates are usually higher because the tenure is longer and the amount required for investment is higher. The rates of FGN Bond then was not that high too.

Maybe s/he thought she will be able to wait till the end of the 3 years without considering that s/he may need that money for other invest. That said, the rates for this month's savings bond auction was slightly above 11% for 2 years and above 12% for 3 year tenor savings bond.

Hello everyone. Been reading through all the pages. Please is it advisable to keep buying shares? I used to buy when I lived in Nigeria but having moved to another African country where i make fairly decent income, is it still advisable to keep investing in NGN shares? I
