Let me be simple and truthful, based on say we be WE WE. Don't go with the above guys. They are just hungry bloggers and link hawkers looking for a way to survive through you.
Since you said you wanna build a simple forum like Nairaland, the only thing that would sound expensive is getting a DOMAIN NAME & HOST (web hosting provider). But you could try a free host to choose a platform you wanna run before buying a hosting service...
I advice you go with VANILLA FORUM(demo link shared above already) cos it's simple, free and flexible.. You don't need to pay a dime and their interface look superb.
Most of the links you see shared above are just a remodification of people work and when you wanna make changes, you will still have to contact them. In contacting them, they will milk you dry again.
If you're ready, just visit the links. Try to host for free before wasting your hard earned cash..
If you want free host for test running your preferred PLATFORM, I suggest you use http://heliohost.org Bros. Thanks. However, can you personally build a forum yourself? |

In total, budget N35000 for all and you're good to go. See the LASU and Badagry Forum links on my signature for my samples. Nice one. Will get in touch |

Dear programmers and web designers
I am just being curious. How much would it cost if someone wanted you to build a forum like nairaland for them.
I ask this because most web designers in Nigeria would rather point you to forum templates which are not simple for the user to navigate as Nairaland is.
Yes, a forum that has a similar functionality and look as nairaland? |

Christianity Etc › Re: 3 Things Making Blacks/nigerians Backwards by JackBizzle(op): 3:29am On Jun 07, 2017 |
Joshthefirst: Anyone can make up an OFFENSIVE list of contorted mixes of ignorance and foolish labelling against practices or beliefs and tag any religious or irreligious group to that particular list.
Doesn't make it right.
You blame religion and Christianity for our problems, I blame ignorance and abandonment of truth. Christianity carries its own ignorance too! You sir, have been brainwashed to only see the good in christianity. Just go to the front page of nairaland and everyday, we see fraudulent pastors and end-time churches. Bro, lets be honest, if a Nigerian walked up to you on the road and said that he is pastor, would your internal alarm bells not be ringing? It is so bad that "pastor" is now synonymous with "fraudster". Aside from that, there are problems with the christian doctrine. Are you not worried that there are so many conflicting doctrines? Each church denomination has its own version of what is "Godly". Some dont drink alcohol, some worship on saturday, some dont wear earrings, some don't fraternize with other church members, some dont celebrate birthdays, some take holy communion, some have their own bible versions etc. Your religion also promotes ignorance. This is a fact that cannot be denied. Many church members are slaves to their pastors. Not only that, the bible praises "believing without seeing"- that is the basis of faith. Joshthefirst: I can't think of how to address you and your cohorts, because you are a combination of several levels of wrong thinking and ideology and will need patient and intensive intellectual and logical discussions of reason to at least realize the wrongness of your worldview, even if you choose to remain in it. What do you mean by this? I knew you when you were Chibubuem. You were very ignorant of global politics and history. You barely understood logic. To prove this, I will point out your ignorance by decimating your next point below- Joshthefirst: Try and look at history at least, at the birth of the scientific age, and see that the men who founded the scientific method were men of faith. Look and see that any ideology of ignorance and persecution of any people for their beliefs will always result in darkness and oppression. The Marxist nation's forced atheism on their people(at least they had guts enough to use force) and the result was violence and oppression. There are three problems that come up when you talk about the early scientists being men of faith. 1) There was punishment for blasphemy in the olden days and so, many scientists would not exactly come out as atheists or unbelievers. In fact, the further you go backwards in history, the less you see of atheists and unbelievers. 2) Which faith are you talking about? Men of different religions and beliefs contributed to science in the past. Einstein was a deist. There was the islamic golden age where muslims were at the forefront of science. The Greeks and the Egyptians too had their own religions. The last time I checked, you are neither a muslim or a pagan. 3) Science is a faithless endeavor that does not require belief or religion. Science is simply observation and testing to learn and make conclusions. Having faith in a god or religion makes no difference to scientific discovery. Science does not deal with the spiritual. Joshthefirst: What angers me the most is the way you rationalize murder and try to justify murdering of unborn humans in the womb. I'm disgusted at the way your foolish worldviews have caused you to devalue human life and justify taking it for selfish reasons as right and good. I, like many other humanists, am pro-choice and not pro-abortion. We are not saying that abortion is the best option na dshould be done whenever someone doesnt want a child. We are saying that the option should be on the table when other options like adoption are not feasible. Pro-choice and pro-abortion are not the same thing. But then, you are ignorant, even as a doctor, on abortion. May I never be your patient. Joshthefirst: Is it better to save a child from the dumpster or to remove the broken remains of a developing human and throw it into the bin?
This is what the ideology of the atheistic cage breeds. Murderers, who try to rationalize their taking of life. Deceivers who themselves are deceived. Nigeria and Africa doesn't need people who think that assaulting faith will solve their problems. We need educators and men of good moral and people to empower us. Not ignorant belly rubbers who will take away hope and leave us helpless. Pro-choice and not pro-abortion. Go and read. |

Imagine reading a medical textbook written by the first doctor S/He is the type that refers his patients to the pentecostal showmen. Ironically, these same doctors would laugh at the northern governor that said meningitis was brought upon them because of sin.
I have my views on abortions, and I only agree with medical reasons for it but I've always been for the legalisation so that people would go for adequate treatment rather than endangering their lives from treatment by quacks. The deists like Xenophanes severely criticized the use of anthropomorphism. The criticism of a concept does not make it illogical . What if the criticism is a logical refutation of the illogical nature of the concept? Hmmm? Anthropomorphism is rubbish. We basically have the same reaction to our own children. We grieve when they make bad choices, although if we had it to do over, we would still have brought them into the world. malvisguy212: The word translated "repented" is the Hebrew verb nâcham (Strong's H5162). It has a number of meanings, including "to be sorry," "console oneself," "repent," "regret," and "be comforted. the context help to determined the actual meaning.
God never sin, so what is God repenting for ? like I say the context help to determine the actual meaning, the book of Jeremiah and exedus you quote are chapter concerning judgement on sinful men, so when the scripture say God repent, is not about Him, sinning, no, it about the people who commit this sins. sometimes God reveal law to us just to show us our weakness and the danger of disobeying him. What the verse really is saying that God decrees times of good things and times of judgment. How can an omnipotent and omniscient God feel remorse or be sorry or regret? If you know what exactly is going to happen and you have the power to change it, why feel sorry? |

Isn't Nigeria the only country on the planet where you hardly find any foreign student in its universities? It is no coincidence that the people are backward.
Even within the best and most functional educational system, there are religious people that is why I mentioned that people can be highly trained professionals but remain as superstitious as the yamamamos of the amazon forest. There are 2 doctors here that are strong Christians. One says that no disease is natural and that all diseases are from man's negligence. The other doctor hates abortion so much that he posted a full grown baby as a foetus. |

TheEminentLaity: Interesting post OP. Personally, I find it tiresome replying certain religious folks masquerading as knowledgeable people. One mind-boggling realisation I arrived at after I became enlightened enough to go beyond religion and its myths is that I really knew nothing about the world if indeed my creed was false. I have a friend who cannot speak for more than three sentences without mentioning god - "If god bless you with a boy...god gives you a good woman...god helps you...god gave them the brain...god will make you see" etc - but I'm always quick to remind him that I don't share the same world view and that he should learn to hold a conversation without including such. He would get the shock of his life when eventually finds out that he actually knows nothing useful or true and is no different from his ancestors who also held unfounded myths and worse is the realisation of all the time and money wasted on his religion. Given a choice, most people would rather choose what makes them feel good than what is true anyway so I doubt he, like many nigerians, would ever get there. Good lad though.
I particularly like this point you made, surviving is hard and I think this should be the only excuse (and I'm not one for excuses) Nigerians should make, not slavery or anything else. Focus on self and being materialistic isn't bad at all but I think Nigerians are just perfectly fine with surviving and do not (or is it cannot) see the bigger picture. No desire for leaving a legacy, no thought for what they would be remembered for or as, just live large and die. Some are even tired of living but instead of going quietly would rather wish/pray for their religious apocalypse to come quickly and take the rest of the people with them.
Education, as Horace Mann put it: beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equaliser of the conditions of men, the balance-wheel of the social machinery.
The lack of education is the main reason for Nigeria's backwardness and by this I mean education that brings enlightenment. How can one truly be learned about the world and reality and still believe nonsense? I believe there are two facets of education, the first for learning how to think rationally in order to ask questions that would eventually lead to solving problems; and the other for training such as learning to become a doctor, an engineer, an architect, a lawyer, even a scientist that is why even highly educated professionals continue to hold on myths of bronze ages to the same degree as those that lived then even after they may have learnt how microorganisms cause disease and could probably do an open-heart surgery. The latter is what black Africa has or was brought to them. We were and are continually being trained to become priests, imams, to read, to treat people and to do as the master did or does. We weren't given true education otherwise not many would hold on to unproductive local traditions and superstitions of abrahamic religions.
Another thing, it takes a certain level of IQ to become an atheist (one who knows why) so I don't sweat it anymore trying to explain my viewpoint to people who do not even know about the religion they so unconsciously defend. Here in London, there are quite a number of young people wearing "I'm a muslim - ask me a question" T-shirt but I wonder how many of these teenagers have indeed read the Quran and would continue to wear the T-shirt after reading it, after they really understand that it is because some people believe every word of it wholeheartedly that is why they are justified in killing the 'infidels.' In Nigeria where an alleged gay writer was abducted but most people were only concerned about where his genitals goes into rather than his whereabouts. Justified this horror with some calling for death for all of them. Only religion/superstition can do this to the mind. Not once had it even crossed their minds that their Lord Jesus Christ might have been wrong when he said '...in the beginning he created them male and female' (Matt 19:4) or that the holy books didn't drop from the sky.
As it was when the Queen of England landed on African soil and it was narrated to be the land of savages. Sadly, with the internet, ubiquitous information and technology, so it is today that many are just savages in fine clothes with sophisticated phones and nice cars. Not much different from their ancestors in their minds. They know how to read and use the internet but do not know how to learn.
Education! Education!! Education!!! illuminates. Science is the candle in the darkness of superstition.
Let me share a wonderful comment I found on a book review: Critical thinking, methodical intellectual habits, reliable epistemology, all boil down to this: creating for yourself a bin of ideas that are as reliable as you can muster, and keeping that separate from all the other ideas, and all the other claims of unknown provenance that are floating around. And that bin needs to be safeguarded. What we call "science" is really just the bin of the best and most sound ideas we have. The only way for an idea to end up in that bin is for it to pass a series of tests. And the only way it can stay in that bin is for it to continue to pass tests. And by and large, the "wisdom" of "holy books" has not passed tests. The ideas in religions cannot pass those tests. And people plead for special exceptions, saying, "Well, you should let this idea in because it cannot be disproven." But that's not the question, whether or not it can be disproven. You cannot let an idea into that bin that hasn't passed any tests, and it doesn't get a free pass simply because there's no way to test it. That bin is only for ideas that have passed tests, period. If an idea cannot be tested, and cannot be gauged for it's proximity to "truth." It's truth value remains unknown. But that bin is only for ideas whose proximity to "truth" can be gauged. This is not to say anything about those untestable ideas. They could be true, or they could be false, or anything in between. But that bin is not for ideas that might be true, on the off-chance. It is only for ideas that can pass tests. And those are the only ideas we should be willing to accept as having any approximation to truth. Every individual should have a bin like this for themselves in their own mind. One thing I would like to correct you on is the issue of education in Nigeria. Nigeria's problem is that the educational system is poor. We have Bscs in which students cram and learn nothing |

Jesus Christ, Socrates and Buddha are the three most amazing Characters any good person would follow. I can't have a problem with any of them. My guy. why are you in such denial? Why?? Does christianity not encourage faith healing? Is christianity not a brainwashing religion? "Blessed are those who have not seen but still believe"? How can one believe without evidence? Are there not thousands of fraudulent pastors? A religion is judged by 2 things- -Its doctrines -how its adherents behave. The christian doctrine is not only hypocritical and contradictory, it is also a good tool for brainwashing. Old and new testament contradicting each other. Jesus and Yahweh preach different things. Different churches with different doctrines. Christianity has failed in Nigeria and has failed the black man. |
