As far as I am concerned and those who belong to my school of thought , Christianity didn't hinder Africans or the so called Nigerians from self development. In fact, Christianity help shaped African school of thought as regard so many felt problems in the past. Regarding the good things christianity has done in the past in Nigeria, it has done more bad than good.

Christians brought education but was it originally with good intentions? European christians were in Nigeria as early as the 16th century but only brought their education in the 18th century.

The killing of twins was stopped by a christian, Mary Slessor. However, it is overhyped as many other tribes in Nigeria didnt kill twins.

The difference between that pythagoras theorem and religious rule is that science has expanded, tested and further applied the pythagoras theorem to different applications. Religion, on the other hand wants to remain the same- afterall, God is the same, yesterday, today and forever.
