From your statement I can deduce that this law (killing people who insult your diety or his prophet) is not from your God or prophet. If this is true then the law was fabricated by a man who may be through fear and terror wants to keep people to the course and also preserve the course.

Well all religions need to be reviewed and every babaric act in the name of service to a diety should be revoked. personally I dislike insult but to the extent of killing someone for it is insane whatever the purpose or reasons might be. People accuse God of being responsible for all the bad things happening on Earth but when it comes to defending himself the humans comes to his aid as if he is now irresponsible or powerless. But humans are not God.
