Those lie lie websites you visit will never help know the truth. Read books from eye witnesses and those that participated in the war. Common dahomey women beat you merciless and you are here ranting online as usual
give us a credible link to support your own claim grin I also need to see a link of how the Benin empire conquered Yoruba land. I dey wait o

you read about oyo empire where? Oh ok. When fulani decimated yorubas in ilorin and killed afonja and installed emir of ilorin. And were on their way to finish off oyo village and then head to ogbomosho to finish them and then head to ibadan and finish them and they head to lagos. And yoruba people begged white man to intervene, which he did and saved the day. It was during othman dan fodio naa. That's not history, it's current affairs
keep telling the lies. I'll keel exposing you

At the war-front, the Ibadan could not attack the Ilorins during the day because Osogbo was practically in a plain and the Ilorin horses might have advantage of them with disastrous results. They decided to attack at dusk when the Ilorins would no longer be able to use their horses. About 2:pm, the well prepared Ibadan army left the gate of Osogbo for the battlefield. They were to keep a strict watch and arrest anyone suspected to be a spy. About a mile from the Ilorin camp, they halted and arranged the order of the attack. The Osogbo army and the earlier auxiliaries were to handle the center of the battlefield, chiefs Abitiko and Labuju were to command the right wing, Balogun Oderinlo with the rest of the Ibadan war-chiefs were to form the left wing of the army. The Ilorin camp was then attacked at midnight. The watchword was “Elo ni owo odo? ” (How much is the ferry fare?). The reason this watchword was chosen was because the river Osun had to be crossed in entering Osogbo from the south, and anyone who could not tell this was likely to be an enemy.
Stampede engulfed the Ilorin camp as the Ibadan army set it on fire. The Ilorins could not offer the slightest resistance; they were smoked with the gunpowder of the Ibadan guns. This attack was a success for the Ibadan. Some Ilorin war-chiefs were captured in the attack. Prominent ones were:
1. Jimba the head slave of the Emir;
2. One of the sons of Ali the commander in chief;
3. Chief Lateju;
4. Ajikobo the Yoruba Balogun of Ilorin.
The first two were released while the latter two, being Yoruba by birth, were regarded as traitors and were executed. This was a huge victory for the whole of Yoruba land. After the Osogbo victory, Ibokun, an Ijesa town not far from Osogbo was taken by the Ibadans for being an ally of ilorin
https://oldnaija.com/2017/01/16/the-osogbo-war-of-1840/#more-2134

after fulanis captured Ilorin they couldn't advance down to ogbomoso because the terrain wasn't good for their cavalry. they face Oshogbo and this is the result up there. they lost!!!

We have to agree that the Nigerian culture people from outside know is Igbo culture due to spreads of Nollywood movies. Igbos have very strong and influential presence in that industry.

benin empire extended from benin to the dahomey boundary. Where dahomey women warriors nearly decimated yoruba able-bodied men until the ran and hid under a rock in egba. Today called abeokuta (meaning people living literally under a rock). I visited olumo rock in abeakuta and the guide gave us the full story. I even snapped under the rock. Could barely enter me, but they say thats where families were living day and night for fear dahomey women fighters.
you can keep your lies to yourself. Dahomey is present day republic of Benin not Edo state. get yourself educated and stop twisting facts!!! Dahomey attacked egba and lost!!!
https://googleweblight.com/i?u=https://oldnaija.com/2016/09/17/the-egba-dahomey-war-1851-1864/&grqid=A0-_fiX9&hl=en-NG

In 1851, the Dahomean army (which was made up of women), under the rule of King Gezo , marched into the heart of Abeokuta , the capital of Egba and unleashed havoc on the unsuspecting Egbas. However, the heavily armed Egba army, even though unprepared, was able to repel the attack and killed many of the Dahomean armies, while the captured ones were made slaves. Later, in about 1853, the Egbas revenged by attacking and destroying Lefulefu and Referefe, two towns at the border of Dahomey, with little resistance from their inhabitants

Yoruba people are just a uncultured, unmannered and utterly jealous thread.
The thread is about oba of benin visiting osibanjo. And they quickly turned it to the comparison of Prof Obi of Onitsha vs a broke fraudstar called obat oil.
cry me a river. your people asked for it. when the ooni was travelling we didn't complain. you nonyorubas started telling us how your Oba has been cursed to live in the palace and never step out. now he's in abuja to pay homage. you asked for it

now that you are changing the goal post to culture. the highest grossing/most successful Nigerian movie in indigenous language is funke akindele's the return of Jenifer!!!

Don't misyarn again , I wont spare you this time. ode
hahahaha see who's talking about misyarn.

Most of these Nollywood directors like Chidi Chikere and co has no sound training in movie making unlike Biyi Akindele and Kunle Afolayan. You can see the difference when a real professional like Mildred Okwor, Biyi Akindele,Izu Ojukwu ,Omoni Oboli ,Kunle Afolayan and co make movies...These people belong to a different class like Amaka Igwe and Tade Ogidan.

I am not here to compare Igbo and Yoruba who is better but I hate lies. Somebody can not work all day to build something only for you to come and start claiming it.

This matter has been trashed out so many times and you always end up losing...lol
The Nigerian movie industry known as Nollywood was started with the introduction of living in bondage produced by Okechukwu Ogunjioffor. You can rant all day online but you have a Yoruba movie industry ,Nollywood has no relationship with with theater nor soap opera. It was an independent idea of a suffering man born out of natural instinct.

Crayola Cc
living in bondage is a 1992 movie!!!

maybe IBO movie industry started then but for Nigeria, Yoruba started it!!! Ogunde will never be forgotten!!!

Be silent !

You don't know anything about precolonial Igbo land. Assuming you know you wouldn't have written the above nonsense.

Before the whites arrived Igbo land we had what we call Eze Obodo/Eze Ani who were the custodians of the culture and traditions but they held little to no political power, just the might to enforce traditions.

Before the white men some of the popular kings in Igbo land were EZE NRI, OBI OF ONITSHA, EZE ARO, EZE IWEKA, IGWE ORIZU etc.

Beyond the traditional stool we have Nze na Ozo and Ndichie who deliberated on matter bothering the town. We didn't not operate monarchy system like Bini and others because of our Republican nature. We believe in the theory of onye fee Eze and Nwata kwochaa meaning we can all be kinds in our own right.

In Anambra we have the Nze na Ozo noble society which any rich and forthright man can join after rites. Our title men have a personal chamber called Obi/Obu/ Iba where the title man receives visitors. A title man doesn't live in nkpuke, the female quarters.

Igbos have very beautiful culture that is also marketable. We have some of the most beautiful traditions in Africa and I am being honest. That's why people love nollywood, its the Igbo culture . Igbo culture has brought fame to Nigeria. Igbo is a very wealthy and powerful tribe and our influence is just starting to gain ground after the brutal war that has held us behind while every tribe excelled.

Your hate is full of hate.
if I take you up on nollywood you will cry here today. the bigger decision makers in nollywood are Yoruba!!! the best movie so far (wedding party) is Yoruba dominated. ibos just like to make noise!!!
