Over 500 Ghanaian soldiers have said they are prepared to join Boko Haram and ISIS

– The soldiers say joining the terrorist would be revenge for unfair dismissal

– They claim that there was so much fowl play in the military boot camp from which they were kicked away
There is a growing concern following agitation by some 501 sacked Army recruits who are threatened to join terrorist groups like ISIS or Boko Haram.

According to Ghana Web, the threat comes after what the soldiers have termed an unfair treatment after they were unceremoniously dumped out of boot camp.
The recruits said even though some of their colleagues were found wanting by the instructors, they had never claimed the training was too difficult as claimed by the leadership of the training school, the basis for which they were sent home.

Convener of the recruits Frank Antwi, in an interview with Adom News said though they could not complete their training, the training they had before the unfortunate dismissal from the training school is enough to qualify them to be recruited into ISIS or Boko Haram unless they are recalled into the training school.

They believe they qualified but have been dismissed wrongly as a result of other considerations instead of their inability to complete the required training.

But a Security Expert and Assistant Director at the New York University, Dr Nicholas Nii Okine has condemned the threat and recommended that National Peace Council and the intelligence agencies step in.

He is suggesting counseling and mini reintegration process to re-tool them to perform other duties for the state, cautioning that this threat if not managed could be disastrous.

The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has appealed to students into the institution to be patient with its screening.
The university’s spokesman Michael Osasuyi made the plea yesterday in Benin, the state capital, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Osasuyi said students who chose the institution and scored above the 200 in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) were over 30,000, hence the crowd at the screening centres.
He said: “The screening started in September and it is ongoing. The third batch of prospective students is being screened at present.
“The screening is all about sighting of credentials, such as the results issued by the West Africa Examination Council and National Examination Council (NECO).
“We are appealing to candidates and parents to be patient as the screening goes on.”
NAN reports that prospective students of the institution wait several hours to take their turn in the exercise.
Also, parents who accompany their wards to the screening venues are expressing dissatisfaction over the lapses they experience in the process.

Ambode, el-Rufai’s presence in Benin worrisome, says Ize-Iyamu has expressed concerns about the presence of governors Akinwunmi Ambode and Nasir el-Rufai of Lagos and Kaduna states respectively, in the state.
Ize-Iyamu, who claimed that both governors were in the state, said their intentions could not be genuine.
He also accused the All Progressives Congress of using security operatives to intimidate his supporters.
He said, “You know that they have been using security agencies to harass our people, even till last night, trying to arrest them and detain them on very flimsy excuses.“But we have also spoken to their superiors, who assured us that those who are doing so are doing so on their own and they will call them to order. For now, we are satisfied with that assurance.

“We are also aware that the governors of Lagos and Kaduna states, Ambode and el-Rufai, are also in Benin and this is worrisome because if the security agencies can declare restriction on movement even for those in the state, we are wondering why two governors not from Edo State will relocate to our state.
“We think that the reasons cannot be genuine; we have gone through the period of campaigning and expect that Edo people will be left alone to vote.”

Ize-Iyamu, however, expressed satisfaction with the voter turnout and the conduct of INEC officials in his polling unit.

He said, “The turnout is impressive. The security people and INEC officials are around. We are praying to God that what we are seeing here is what is also playing out (elsewhere).

“I am happy that, at least in this place, the card reader has worked. I hope it is also working in other places. So, from what I have seen here, I am impressed; even though because of network difficulties, I have not been able to find out what is happening elsewhere.

“Now that I have voted, I will try and phone other places to know what is happening.”

An 18-year-old student, Lily Heaume, is getting herself creative by making penis sculptures modelled on her numerous sexual adventures.

Four students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) were prosecuted for cultism

– A group of young men planned to breach public peace but were timely detained

– However, they pleaded not guilty to the charges
The four were charged with two counts of conspiracy to breach public peace and being memebers of an unlawful secret society, known as Aloral Bucania.

All suspects, Raheem Yusuf, 21, Adedoyin Adeyemi Abraham,24, Olanrewaju Idowu, 36, and Safraini Oluyemi Peters, 24, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the police, the four accused persons had conspired to cause breach of public peace on August 4 at about 9.30am, at room 318, Biobaku Hall of UNILAG. However, it’s unclear what exactly they were plannig to do.

The prosecutor, Adebayo Oladele, informed the court that the offences are contrary to and punishable under sections 409 and 42(a)(b) of the criminal laws of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo state has declared Tuesday, September 27 and Wednesday, September 28 as public holiday for the conduct of the gubernatorial election.

The governor announced the holiday at an event organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress in his honour, for making the labour movement proud.
He stated that the purpose of the holidays is to enable workers travel to where they registered as voters to exercise their franchise.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State yesterday expressed readiness to mobilize the youths of the state to vote against Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, governorship candidate of the PDP, due to what it described as his alleged plot to hand over the treasury of the state to the Igbinedion family.
Speaking to journalists yesterday, the state youth leader of the APC, Comrade Osakpanwa Eriyo, said “The recent comment by Ize-Iyamu that he will make the birthday of the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion a state event has exposed the plans of the god fathers to mortgage the future of our state.

“Our youths will not allow that to happen and that is why we are telling everybody that they must not vote for PDP because it is the same cabal that shared our money for 10 years, destroyed our industries and milked the treasury, that are trying to come back through the back door. If for instance as he said Esama’s birthday is made a state event, is it not the tax payers money that they are going to use?
That will be returning us to Egypt and God forbid. Governor Oshiomhole has proved that Edo state can work, that the poor can be heard, that development must come and we all must follow the light. Godwin Obaseki will continue the developmental strides and he will not use our money to celebrate birthday for one person like Ize-Iyamu will do.

“Ize-Iyamu and his god fathers destroyed this state and we cannot allow such people to return to power in Edo.
