Immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose late yesterday night asked Nigerians to hold Kogi state Governor responsible should anything happen to anyone today as the state holds its Governorship election.

Fayose was reacting to the attack on Natasha Akpoti and the alleged attempted attack on Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde.

From the persistent attack on Natasha Akpoti and today's use of masked policemen to attack Gov. Seyi Makinde, it is obvious that Gov Yahaya Bello is averse to free & fair elections. Should anything happen to anyone in Kogi tomorrow,Nigerians should hold Yahaya Bello accountable.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Kano Zonal Office has secured the conviction of one Aminu Ahmed for impersonating former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

He was convicted by Justice Sa’adatu Mark of the Federal High Court Kano on a two count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretense.

The convict was sentenced to six months imprisonments with an option of restituting the sum of N200,000 to the victim.

The convict was arraigned by the Commission sometime in March 2019 for defrauding one Auwal Iliyasu by posing as former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

A lawmaker in Akwa Ibom state, South-South Nigeria, has been remanded in prison for allegedly assaulting a woman and stripping her n3ked.

The accused, Uduak Nseobot, is a councillor in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

Mr Nseobot was charged to court by the Akwa Ibom State Government for allegedly kidnapping, assaulting, and publicly stripping the woman, Iniubong Essien, whom he had accused of stealing some naira notes.

Mr Nseobot said the money was “sprayed” on them at their wedding.


He was initially charged alongside his wife, Aniedi, who lives in the U.S. But the charges against the wife was dropped by the prosecution to enable them build a smooth case against the defendant.

Justice Archibong Archibong of a state high court in Uyo on Thursday dismissed the preliminary objections filed by the defendant through his lawyer, Mfon Ben.

The judge ordered that Mr Nseobot be remanded in prison, after the councillor pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

The case has been adjourned to November 27 for the court to hear the defendant’s bail application.

The victim, Ms Essien, who said she has been a close friend to the councillor’s wife for about 10 years, denied stealing their money.

She told Premium Times that she assisted the Nseobots in cooking and serving food to their wedding guests and that she was not even the person who helped the couple to pick money donated to them at the wedding.

Exactly 24 years ago, 9 Ogoni activists lead by Ken Saro-Wiwa were hanged by Nigeria’s military regime after a blatantly unfair trial.
On 10 November 1995 the Nigerian government executed nine leaders of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) on trumped up murder charges. Tellingly, Ken Saro-Wiwa and the others were at the forefront of a campaign against the environmental degradation of the land and waters of Ogoniland.

Many of the witnesses who implicated the Ogoni Nine during their trial subsequently recanted their evidence, stating that they had been bribed by the Nigerian government and had been offered money and jobs with Shell to give false testimony.

Their widows are now demanding justice.

Two elderly men have been arrested by the Kebbi State Police Command for an alleged rape of 11-year-old primary school pupil in Gwandu Local Area of the state.

We reports that the girl, (name withheld), was lured by the men while at school, in Oct. 31 to an unknown location and had canal knowledge of her.

In an interview with NAN, the Director General of Kebbi Concerned Citizens (KCC), Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammed, who reported the case to the state Police Command, said the suspects would soon be taken to court.

“An eleven year old girl was allegedly molested and raped by 70-year-old and 50-year-old men in Gwandu town, Gwandu Local Government Area of Kebbi state.

“The suspects, who are currently under investigation by the Police in the state, are said to have confessed to the crime. Medical report has also confirmed that the girl was actually raped and principal witnesses are available,”
he said.

He said that the attention of KCC was drawn to the incident by some residents in Gwandu town when they saw signs of the case being frustrated.

“Now all arrangements to move the matter to court have been made.

He commended the state Police Command and the management of the school attended by the victim for the role they played in ensuring that justice was done.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the incident.

“The investigation is still ongoing and we will get back to you with more details on the matter,” he said.

A 27-year old man, Kevin Williams, has landed in trouble in Lagos after he publicly disgraced a lady by engaging her in public fight, tearing her clothes, bra and stripping her completely naked over N200 debt.

According to PM Express, the incident happened at Federal Bus Stop Gate in Ipaja area of Lagos, where Williams accosted the victim, Arike Olaogun.

It was gathered that Williams owed the victim N200 for an undisclosed transaction and she demanded the money from him. Williams was said to have been angered by the demand; he reportedly grabbed her, rained blows on her and she became confused.

He then tore her clothes including bra and then stripped her completely naked before their neighbours rescued and covered her unclothedness.

The matter was reported to the Police at Ipaja Division; Williams was arrested and detained at the station for investigation.

During interrogation, he reportedly told the Police that the victim provoked him, which resulted in assaulting her but did not know that he tore her clothes and bra, which left her completely naked.

The Police found him culpable and later charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrates Court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and assault on the victim.

He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Kenneth Asibor, asked the Court to fix a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. T.O. Shomade, granted Williams bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 16th December , 2019.

Nigerians under the platform of the Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria on Thursday in the United Kingdom protested at the Abuja House in London over the visit by President Muhammadu Buhari for alleged medical treatment.

The protesters led by Gabriel Agbontaen, demanded that President Buhari should return home and fix Nigerian hospitals instead of seeking medical treatment abroad and planning for the importation of foreign medical Doctors.
They highlighted the insecurity and lack of basic amenities in Nigeria while Nigerian politicians continued to travel abroad to enjoy facilities provided by the politicians of other countries.

The protesters queried why President Buhari continued to patronise foreign services when foreign products such as rice had been banned by his government.
Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Abba Kyari, on Monday travelled to London to meet with his boss to sign the amended bill of the Deep Offshore (and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contract) Act which was recently passed into law by the National Assembly.

In the course of his 2015 electoral campaign, President Buhari promised Nigerians that he will not seek medical treatment abroad.
He recently banned ministers from unjustifiable international trips.
Since his assumption in office, he had spent almost 200 days out of office for medical tourism.

The protesters argued that since Buhari’s visit was private, he ought to privately incur the financial cost of his visits.
About N10bn had been budgeted for the Aso Rock Clinic since Buhari assumed office in 2015, yet Aisha Buhari complained in 2017 that there was no syringe in the clinic.

Though no government official came out of the Abuja House to address the protesters, who were there for over two hours, some persons were seen filming the demonstrators from inside the facility.
The British police were there to ensure that the protest remained peaceful.
