Shally233: Well, it depends on the means of payment the school wants...I actually used Transfermate and I'm sure most of us here, if not all, also used Transfermate...You can try paying through apps like Pay4me It's TU-Dublin, and the only form of payment I could find on their portal is through touchnet where I will have to use my master card to pay. I don't know if there is anybody else that also applied to the school and how they paid. |

I'm using UBA MasterCard to pay via the school provided portal but it's declining. "Payment declined.Verbal authorization is required. Please contact your card issuer." |

bigmills: I resubmitted the same application from last year. The previous rejection cited three reasons: missing transcripts for all academic qualifications, no explanation for choosing Ireland as the preferred study destination, and unaddressed gaps between my last period of education and current employment. All of these were valid concerns, and every single one was fully addressed in the new application. It was still rejected and this time with entirely new reasons.
There is nothing more demoralising than doing exactly what was asked, fixing every flagged issue, and then watching them move the goalposts. It feels deliberately designed to wear you down. But that's precisely why we cannot give in. Did you use a sponsor? |

TallNigerian: You won't believe if I told you I didn't practice for my second IELTS at all, because I was very pissed that the first one expired without achieving the purpose for why I wrote it. I paid N81k in March 2023 and had to part with 273k for the same test in August 2025. That frustration couldn't let me concentrate on practicing.
However, for the first test, I used a wide range of study materials. From the IDP materials made available after payment, to sample British Council materials, to IELTSLiz, IELTSBuddy, etc. At some point, I even used Academic IELTS materials. Any and everything random I could lay my hands on. A friend also gave me 5GB worth of practice materials then (which I unfortunately lost when my PC crashed). But after writing the exam and acing it at first sitting, it became demystified in my head. Maybe that formed why I didn't practice the second time. I only reapplied my last strategy and my result returned almost exactly the same save for speaking which came as 7.0 and which eventually became 7.5 after I applied for a remark, making my second test result exactly the same as the first.
I feel like if I write it again, it will still be the same outcome, as long as I apply the same approach as in the past.
All the best bro.
PS: I know you didn't ask, but it might be encouraging to know that I finally got a Canadian PR invitation and applied. That remarking of my speaking test was worth it as I passed the cut-off for that draw by just 1 point. Alright, thanks. I already have a wide range of study materials and past questions, I guess I should just master them. You really got a good news, congratulations bro. |
Education › Re: IELTS: Share Your Experience, Ask Your Questions, Tell Us Your Score If You Can. by Jandminded: 10:09pm On Feb 09 |
TallNigerian: Good evening bro. I always tell those who care to listen, that IELTS is more of strategy and choosing the method that works for you.
I am very good at multitasking and no matter how fast or nuanced the conversation might go, I always do catch up.
Concentration is key in listening. Understanding of words within the context of the topic is another thing. If the conversation is law related for instance, and the speaker mentions "thought"......aside from the "th" pronunciation, you may also want to be sure they didn't mean tort (which is a legal word).
I recall during my last test, a marine biologist was having a conversation with his students. He mentioned avian (as related to birds) and I caught it immediately. Firstly, because I have a natural science background. Secondly, because I knew the accurate spelling.
Finally, something unique happened, I missed the answers to questions 6 and 7 as my mind wandered off for few seconds. However, I didn't panic because I would jeopardize my chances with the rest of the questions if I do. So, I continued from question 8 with the mindset that I could not afford to lose any more marks else I fall outside band 8.5. After completing the rest of the questions, I came back to fill in what I thought I must have heard in 6 and 7. I cared less because I knew I already got 38 very accurately. At this point, i will have to accept that its more of strategy and familiarity. Also, the willingness to let some questions go as to concentrate on others on time. Did you spend more time studying or practicing with questions? What worked for you? |
Education › Re: IELTS: Share Your Experience, Ask Your Questions, Tell Us Your Score If You Can. by Jandminded: 8:46pm On Feb 09 |
TallNigerian: My bro, I only practised with random past questions from different sites including British Council, IDP, IELTSBuddy etc
However, I think what worked for me is strategy. I identified my area of weakness in reading which happened to be the Truth, False, Not Given questions. So I focused more on that.
During both exams (my first and second attempts), I skipped the T,F,NG questions and answer every other one, then return to use the remaining time to fully concentrate on and answer the difficult questions.
That was what worked for me in both instances. Maybe I was also lucky and enjoyed God's favour too. Please, how did you manage to get 8.5 in listening? Is it sheer practice or a method? That section 3 and 4 are nightmare for me. People say that listening is the easiest, but I kind of see it as the hardest. I quite understand everything they say, I don't have problem with their accents. The problem is in multitasking, before I try to write answer or check options, I'm lost |

it doesn't mean jack. When I did postdam on Uniassist , the dean of the faculty sef thanked me and acknowledge the documents were compelet yet my background doesnt fit the course applied. so decline. But In the university of postdam, is it a must that you submit another document (supplement) like Course description that is in connection with your transcript? Because my school doesn't give any other document after giving out the transcript in details. Please check the screenshot below.

statemanui: Good morning everyone,
I would really appreciate your advice on the best way forward regarding my visa application process.
Originally, I was scheduled for an interview in February this year. However, due to some incomplete documents, I requested a reschedule, and the embassy kindly gave me a new appointment date for August 28th, 2025.
My admission journey has not been easy at all — I faced several rejections from different schools, which made the process quite discouraging. Out of concern that I might not secure admission before my scheduled interview, I decided on Monday to request another extension of the interview date.
Surprisingly, the very next day (Tuesday), I received good news: I was offered admission by a school.
Now, I am in a bit of a dilemma. Since I already requested another extension before the admission came through and have not yet received any response (apart from the automated acknowledgment email), should I now send a follow-up email to the embassy informing them that I have secured admission and would like to honor my current appointment on August 28th, 2025?
I don’t want to create confusion in my application process, so I would really appreciate your guidance on the right step to take. Please, which University did you get the admission? Also, did they require for a diploma supplement after you submitted your transcript of records? |

Optim56: Hello house,
I've been trying to book a verification service on vfs global but for some reason, no luck. I don't understand, I've alternated between the Abuja and lagos centres but still thesame disappointment. Whenever I get to the third stage, the calendar pick, I can't select any date and worse when I reach July 2026. I get an error message. Please, if you've successfully booked a document verification, how did you do it, abeg? Even the contact form in the vfs global site appears to be unresponsive. I don't know what to do again I'm facing the same problem, I think it's a general issue. Maybe it is currently under maintenance, because I don't see how there would be no appointment from now till June, and crashes when you want to check on July. But if by chance you found a way out, please let me know. |
