In my opinion...the slab only does one job...damp proofing, I pressume that's why it's called the damp proof course.

It adds to the dead load on the house but does nothing directly to improve the strength of the building.

From my little research, the are many types of materials used in the dpc, we have only adopted the concrete slab here as the method used in most cases.

The dpc majorly prevents upward movement of damp or moisture and seals the inside of the house from ants and some nasty rodents. A three or four inch thick of concrete slab should suffice.

I think you are wrong sir, the dpc/dpm does that, it is an impermeable membrane on or below the over site conc, we use mostly polythene film sheet. minimum is 100mm but the acceptable is 150mm, it's just a solid ground cover. let's talk the former, compacted laterite and hardcore, we skip the hardcore part why.

Aint joining no protest, I told you guys then that the world dont revolve around PDP nor APC, but no it seems you've found a messiah in him that lays uncertain enjoying or otherwise his holiday in the far nation that colonized us.
