RedPanthar:
Don't be hasty. Stop reciting reasons you need to leave.

Follow this counsel :

1. Tell your client the extended work time is affecting your health and you like him to grant you two requests.

I. To give you one week leave
Ii. To grant you the opportunity to close earlier 9pm so you can rebuild your metabolism atleast for a period of One month
Iii. Increase your savings and strive to save 50,000 Naira monthly and stash as much for up to five months so you have like 250k so you plan for retirement once you have between 250 and 300k
Iv. Begin researching businesses you can put your 250/300k into like mini importation once you start, you can begin to plan a new business terrain

2. Begin to observe mid day siestas and more sleep and keep a sleep diary. As your sleep health improves, you will observe your health improve significantly and the pressure from retiring subsides

3. The client knows your value and won't sack you. Why do you think he's piling you with projects. It's not because he's using you, but finds you resourceful. So cash in on your value by leveraging your worth for this negotiation. Tell him you did a full day off with no work atall and you intend to use that day to sleep and boost your health to better serve him

4. Write him a formal letter citing the situations and why you feel fulfilled working with him not just for. Financial gains and won't like to see the relationship suffer explaining in clear details what the workload is doing and telling him in the letter to make considerations reducing your workloads, project time lines and grant you the rest period mentioned above

5. Consider a side-guy to handle some projects that can be outsourced from your workload and delegate only taking the projects you can

I RUN A 20 MAN CLOUD-BASED TECH TEAM SO I KNOW WHAT YOU NEED IS MORE OF STRATEGIES WHICH YOU'RE INEXPERIENCED IN... HENCE IT'S MORE OF APPROPRIATEY AND NOT ENTIRELY OF WORKLOAD

DO AS ADVISED AND YOU'LL SEE POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM THE CLIENT. HE CAN'T AFFORD TO RETRAIN ANOTHER HANDLER FROM SCRATCH AND YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO EFFICIENTLY COMMUNICATE YOUR DESIRES TO HIM. SIMPLE.... COMMUNICATE YOUR INTERESTS IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY

THANK YOU VERY MUCH SIR, I appreciate your detailed advise and you really hit the nail on the head. I am a very resourceful person and truly he cannot afford to train another employee from scratch. Under him, I have trained a total of 13 people, they all left before the main work even started. That is to show you how tedious it is. But Thank You sir, I will politely negotiate with him at the close of work today. Thank you once again Sir.
Career / I Want To Quit My Job Of 72,000, ADVISE PLEASE by Jarvis22: 9:41am On Sep 21, 2020
Good Morning Nairalanders and a wonderful Monday to you all.

I will not take so much of your time..... I am 22 years old and I have been working as a Website Manager for 11 months now (October makes it exactly one year). For those who are not familiar with the job, I make posts for websites daily and upload them.
My client is a New York based Gentleman and the website is mainly on News not like a blog and I am currently managing 4 websites.

Now the problem is that the work is too tedious and requires a lot of skill and meticulousness. My boss is a very strict man although kind so that means everything has to be done to perfection. I start work by 8AM every morning and I close by 11PM except on weekends when I close by 10PM and I do these all week round Monday to Monday. And then I have to always be online on whatsapp 24/7 to get a directive or an instruction for him. That is how it has been all through these 11 months.

Like I said, he is not a bad Boss at all. All through these 11 Months I have worked for him, I started with a salary package of 35,000 and it has been increasing ever since to 72,000 last month when he added the fourth website for me.

I initially liked the work because it was kind of my thing, but right now it is terribly affecting me healthwise. I have a bad eye (Short sightedness) which requires me to wear glasses. The stress of sitting in front of the computer screen for many hours everyday is now taking its toll on me. I wake up with a bad headache some days, otherdays I can hardly keep my eye open while working because of the light, it hurts my eyes a lot and my vision is getting bad. It has also affected my social life terribly because, most days I only leave my house like for 30 minutes in a whole week! And that is to buy food or something and I do not have any close friends at all.

I have made a decision that come October, I will be telling him of my intention to resign.

I have another Job by the side though, it's much easier and also remote. I only have to use my phone and if I invest the amount of time and energy I spend on the websites on it, I will make much more money, but my only fear is that the Job can close one day and I will be left hanging.

I am just 22 years old and I recently wrote my last exams last year. I haven't finished my clearance and I haven't gone for NYSC which I may opt for next year.

I need some advise please on how you guys see it, should I quit or not? (I will still have to quit sometime next year when I want to do my NYSC stuff).

MODERATORS, Please be kind to me and push this to front page. I would terribly appreciate it very much. Have a nice Monday and a wonderful week ahead.
Politics / Why Igbos Need To Hold Their Leaders Accountable by Jarvis22: 7:30pm On Aug 01, 2020
The traditional and classical culture of the Ndigbo reveal a fascinating approach to the issue of political leadership unlike many of their neighbors in Southern Nigeria.

Citing the popular mantra “Igbo enweghi Eze” (Igbos know no king), most of the time Igbos make a fundamental mistake in choosing their leaders. They look for a he or she that had been a governor, minister, senator, legislator, etc, and empower him or her further. But they do not check if that former central bank governor, or adviser to the president of Nigeria, ever felt at home and at ease with fellow Igbos, before he became successful.

Did he or she show love for Igbos before the appointment that catapulted him or her to success?

Political and social corruptions are not recent phenomena that pervade the Igbo states in Nigeria. Corruption has eaten into all political sectors of Igbo land.

Corruption and self-interest among Igbo leaders are some of the major reasons for many unresolved problems that have critically hobbled and reduced development in Igbo land. It has led to the poor state of electricity, major hitches in the transport sector, health sector, education sector, road infrastructure, and communications which are core precursors to poor economic development and a major handicap for doing business in the zone.

Bribery, embezzlement, fraud, extortion, and favoritism is now the order of the day when it comes to Igbo politics. Take for example the former Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha. This articulation of power and office as a private family asset is what Okorocha was about introducing into Igboland. In other words, he willed to disrupt and alter the sociology of the Igbo. That is to say that Okorocha is anti-Ofo na Ogu and thus anti-Igbo which earned him the derogoratory nickname Okoro-Awusa.

Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Generals Aguiyi Ironsi, Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ike Nwachukwu, Emeka Omeruah, etc, were all born or grew up in the North. And they also served in various offices in Igboland. Not one of them, unlike Okorocha, was dubbed or derided with an Hausa adjectival.

You might ask, what makes Okorocha so specific, so idiopathic, he had to be branded Okoro-Awusa? The answer is simple. Okorocha, who is Igbo, insisted on ruling like a pre-colonial, even mediaeval, northern emir. During his tenure, just about all persons that represent the Imo quota in Abuja and Imo establishments were direct relations of Okorocha, by blood, sexual connections, and or marriage. This Okorocha nepotistic monstrosity was so much people wondered what was happening.

Governor Hope Uzodinma, on the other hand, seems to be towing this same path of bad Governance and terrible leadership. From his very devious means of becoming Governor, one could say Imo state is in for some terrible times. Under his tenure, there have been massive allegations of fraud in the civil service sector, he has craftily overlooked the welfare of civil servants and pensioners in the state and so many state infrastructures have been left to deteriorate.

A state like Anambra, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of its creation in 2016, one that is so richly blessed in human and natural resources, has long struggled to actualise its full social, political, cultural, and political development potentials but has failed to do so because of bad leadership from Ex-governor now senator Chris Ngige to Governor Willie Obiano. From the transfer of funds for MDGs projects and other international partners funds into security accounts to approvals of huge amounts of funds for jamboree purposes which also includes special funding for his favorite pastime with his exotic concubines, Governor Willie Obiano is on a very fast lane of ruining Anambra state.

Abia state, just like other states in Nigeria would have been the very best if governors with conscience were elected to run the affairs of the state. Since Abia state was created, it has been managed by very corrupt leaders who did not know what leadership entails, hence they were able to steal almost all the money belonging to the people and use it for their personal gains. Another example of Corruption and favoritism is the infamous, former Governor of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu, he was the Peoples Democratic Party’s star governor in the South-east in 1999, priding himself as a founding member and a major financier of the party. He has consistently maintained that he gave huge sums of money to the party at inception, specifically N100 million for its registration in 1999 and another ₦100 million to former President Olusegun Obasanjo as support for his presidential campaign in the same year. Mr. Kalu was powerful as a PDP governor and wielded so much influence as one of the close confidants of the Obasanjo administration. Orji Uzor Kalu, his stooge turned political foe Ex-governor Theodore Orji of Abia state, and his son Chinedum Orji allegedly gave corruption a more definitive meaning by blatantly mismanaging the resources of the stat to a zero point. Huge amounts of money to fix Abia state were looted by the trio.

These are individuals that were trusted by their people, hence they voted for them to lead the state but in the end, the hope of the voters in Abia state were thrown into the trash box.

Governor Ikpeazu of Abia state ends the list for our honorable mentions, a governor that once wanted to embark on the construction of an airport in the state without standard markets and commercial activities taking place in it. State and local government workers haven’t been equitably paid, and no viable project has been commissioned in the state for many years. One wonders where all the revenue accruing to the state goes. Ikpeazu is one of the governors that squander federal government allocations on frivolities. His tenure has long reeked of corruption and fraudulent activities linked to him and his aides, from contracts inflation to money laundering from all sectors of the Government. Despite the fact that he owes many months salary arrears to Abia state civil service workers, pensioners, and school teachers which has turned many public schools into markets, hemp smoking centers with some looking more like IDP Camps in war zones.

Even at that, not all Igbo leaders are terrible at leadership, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe who represents Abia South senatorial district is one huge force to reckon with when it comes to Southeast politics. The Senator is very notorious for his fearlessness and honesty in the red chambers. One of his most famous feats was when he openly dared the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to resign after his false promises of eradicating insurgency and protecting the lives of Nigerians. He has also openly opposed and criticised several uncustomary bills in the senate, stepping on a lot of toes in the process. “A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others.”

Ndigbo need to hold their leaders responsible and accountable for most of the woes that have befallen them. When most Igbo leaders have taken to easy bribery, loafing and corruption, and insatiable greed, then why won’t spectators take Ndi Igbo for granted?

Hello Nairalanders
I am actually not new here, but I had to create a new account for this. I am really sorry to bother you guys with this, but I really need some elderly/brotherly advice.

I'm a 21-year-old guy, recently graduated from a university in the East, haven't gone for service yet. I am currently fending for myself as I make an average of 70k monthly as a site manager. (this is for people who will tell me to go and look for work.).

I started dating my girlfriend from year 2 years ago in year 3 before industrial training. She's a nice girl, feminine charms and all, and she's the same age as me.
Before we kicked it off sexually, I made sure we made it clear on the area of body count and exes. We've both had 2 relationships before, or so as she made me believe.

Fast forward to thursday of last week, (She has been behaving raather weridly for some weeks, not replying chats and stuff like that), so beause of these I decided to pay her a 2 day visit. When I reached her place in the evening around 2. She was in another guy's room, she opened door for me and left me in the room for 3 hours while she went back to the guy's room.

I no talk, I carry face thruout the night, and in the morning we made up, thinking that we'll use that day (Friday) to talk about shit. This girl abandoned me in the room again in the excuse she's going to buy fish for pepper soup. Na so from 10am to 8pm I no see my so called babe. Damn! I had had it up to here.

As she came back, without tangible explanations,, I made it clear I wasn't doing again. She begged and begged. I considered and we made up AGAIN.

Now yesterday morning, (I also noticed shes been spending much time on WhatsApp now which was unlike her as I was literally the only person she chats with).

I asked her for her phone and she appeared fidgety, which much reluctance she handed it to me, and I went straight to whatsapp.

I noticed she's wiped most of her chats and I noticed a guy's number in her list, someone she dint tell me about. I opened the chat and saw that It had also been wiped. But she mistakenly left the part where they discussed about sex and hows hes the first to fuvk her on her menses.

BROTHERS! I WAN CRAZE!

This is a girl ive dated for two bloody years, I have been extremely faithful as we were in the same dept. she has access to my phone whenever and however she wants.

Why she hid this guy from me, I do not know. I also saw shes been begging him to take her out (I'm in a kind of tight spot financially as I literally blew up to 150k on her new place, so I haven't been yielding to her requests.) Don't judge me, I was badly in love.

I broke up with her immediately yesterday morning and left the place.

She has been calling and begging me since then, I blocked her everywhere except whatsapp. Truely, she loved me very much o, and also made a lot of sacrifices for me. But her dishonesty and her behavior these past few days are the main reasons im taking a walk.

I really dont know what to do guys, I am not a newbie to love matters and the deceitful ways of women, which was my motivation to stick to one woman. But this one, ah!

I am still a young man with a bright future ahead of me. All this woman matter no be for me, but this loss is really hurting me badly, and the fact she kept on holding on to the fact that its just two guys for two bloody years.

What do you suggest? I'll be in the comments.
