F**k the media, same Afghans who were busy congratulating Ashraf Ghani for fleeing are the same Afghans blaming the US for a taliban takeover. Freedom is sweet but you have to fight for it with your blood..

But isn't telling them you are from Africa perpetuating the 'Africa is a country' stereotype?
TravelRe: A Question For Nigerians Living In Diaspora by jasibor(m): 9:31am On Dec 14, 2020
I reside in the US and it’s been an awesome experience, my city happens to be a sanctuary city and shares boarder with Canada so we pretty much have a diverse group of people from around the world. So from my personal experience a lot of people really don’t care where you from, when they hear my accent nobody really cares to ask but some friendly ones go a lil over the board to ask where you from I just reply Africa, cos fr you don’t want to waste your time teaching them Africa is not a country but a continent.

At my work place they had this perception of Africans been less fortunate and when we come over here all we did was work work work and send money back home to build huts and feed our village people who they feel are uneducated.

Cut long story short, at my workplace a staff had told me some of my colleagues don’t like me cos they think I’m too quiet and not smart, but God pass devil only 6 months to joining this company I received a nomination for best staff and eventually won my nomination, this came with a good check ($$$) and my people you really had to see how my name went around, these same people who have been working with this company for over 6-10 years acting like they know too much never even got close to winning a nomination came to me asking how I did it. And I said it was God.

I sha can’t forget this one...so on one special day while the office was quiet and everyone focused on the television someone tuned into the Dr. Phil’s show and this had to be my most embarrassing day at work, on the show came up this episode where some set of American women whom had all been scammed by Nigerian prince came for help cos family members knew they were being scammed and acting delusional....omo come see the way all eyes come my side... had to tell them yea, we have scammers but it’s our politicians who made things go that bad that people gna have to lie to earn a living, and quickly my close friend supported me saying they have a lot of American scammers which they never talk about so he wouldn’t point no fingers, it’s was a lil bit relieving but I don’t think it changed anything.....

So personally I like to keep it real simple working with them, no long conversation, most friends I make are hi and bye... and I strongly believe my hard work is beginning to change the mindset of my colleagues toward the way they see Nigerians.

Unfortunately, it wouldn’t make any substantial difference on the corporation’s revenue because they would possibly make far beyond that $5b before the end of the year, but this serves them right though. I love America.

Atouke:
There is no room for expansion of benin airport. The town people have encroached into airport land and built their houses there for years.
The minister spoke without knowledge, except he is planning on pulling down people's houses, which is not advisable in benin especially in this buhari economy.
Which town people, all those who encroached government land will be given an ultimatum to relocate from that area. Wetin concern development concern town people and their illegal structures, before the procurement of such lands, weren't they aware of the boundaries. E be like say your coven dey there abi. She has eaten something forbidden..something similar happened to a friend some years ago and he had to go for spiritual cleansing. His family forbids grass cutter which he ate at a friend's place and strange boils started coming up from different part of his body. She must have done something her clan forbids. Don't joke with our African traditions.

jamoyakz:
gurus don't you guys feel their is a nexus between the derogatory comments of president Trump and the high spate of delays at the embassy and consulate of late .... I know oga twood will defer but as a student of politics I can sense a major shake up in United States immigration policies vis-a- visa visa policies
Your comment actually makes sense to me. Very soon things will change and it won't be just the Twitter rantings. There are so many legal immigrants living in the US, and as Trump have always reteraited, they are the reason why America is no longer great because they have no dream to move America forward. The US has been so open to all for so long, now they are trying to adopt the immigration laws which Canada and Australia operates so those who have no focus/in line to move America forward (the uneducated/unskilled immigrants) can be flushed out.
The world is changing, and we shouldn't deprecate the derogatory speech of the president, one day it will definitely shock those from the sh!thole countries. Have you forgotten Ghana must go!
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by jasibor(m): 3:18pm On Jan 06, 2018
I got my visa approved on the 29th of December, 2017 by the VO in window 1 (lady of the year) collected my passport on the 5th of January 2018.

Transcript below.

(Got to my turn to be interviewed, VO didn't greet and I quickly said "good morning" the VO now with a sweet smile responded, Good morning.)
VO: pass me your passport and i20( she did so with a smile), where are you going?
Me: Boston, Massachusetts. To get a degree in information communication technology from NEU
VO: what is your highest level of qualification
Me: I have an ordinary national diploma in computer engineering from auchi polytechnic. Auchi Edo state Nigeria
VO: what year?
Me: I got my ordinary diploma in 2014
VO: what have you been doing after then?
Me: there's a mandatory 1 yr industrial training, which I completed with Bleep company and was luckily retained.
VO: what did you do with Bleep company
Me: I worked as a radiofrequency engineer, there I had the opportunity to carry out drive test and analysis to benchmark network performance, check for network route using google maps and verification of network sites for 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE.
(Now work start for her to ask me question, and trust me, I was fully ready for likely questions that would come from my duties)
VO: so why did you choose ICT?
Me: Ma'am, during my stay with Bleep company, I was among the delegates sent to represent our firm at a discussion forum held in Abuja, by NITDA (national information technology development development agency) to discuss the impact of ICT in Nigeria, there they explained how ICT has helped Nigeria economically, politically, socially and also in our educational sector, but laid strong emphasis on the major problem ICT has faced in Nigeria which is "poor management of information" (here she nodded her head)
VO: so tell me how information can be managed?
Me: I think by encryption of datas, not too sure but this is actually the reason why I developed interest in studying ICT in the US so I can be well grounded on how it is done, there are so many computer engineers and computer scientist but a scanty number of IT specialist here in Nigeria to remedy the problem of poor management of information. (she cuts in)
VO: what is encryption?
Me: encryption means to protect or secure something
VO: so you made mention of working as a radio frequency engineer and your duties
Me: yes
VO: how do you check for network signals in sites?
Me: we check for network signals using our normal smartphones and RF scanner receivers, these devices checks for QoS and QoE (i.e. Quality of service and quality of experience by end users)
VO: What is the frequency of network signals that is transmitted?
Me: (For here my brother, I could never tell if I was right or wrong, I just said) it depends, from 20 hertz to 120 hertz
VO: (nods her head again) ok, so tell me how this will course will help John (that's my name)
Me: Yes, this course will help me a lot because here in Nigeria I have been opportune to hear from a federal government agency, to let me know that poor management of information is a major challenge nigeria has been facing for years as a result of the scanty numbers of technical know-how. Me getting a degree in ICT will equip me with the needed skills to fill in the gap and create a lasting impression to solve the ICT challenges we are facing in Nigeria
VO: who's sponsoring you?
Me: my dad
VO: what does he do for a living?
Me: He's a major distributor of Bleep cement in xxxx state and also supplies steel rods, roofing sheets and blocks for building in xxxx state.
VO: Ok John, I will be approving your visa this time, you qualify for it( passes the white paper to me and circles the pick up location and continue her talk oh) I see your school resumes 8th of January so I will advise you email the school to extend your resumption date, so you don't face problem at the PoE, because your passport will be available for pickup in a very close date to your resumption. Blah blah blah!
Me: thank you, I will do that as soon as I get home.
VO: ok, thank you.

It's just God who made this possible for me, I was denied on the 5th of December.

My advise to everyone applying, just be prepared and well grounded both relevant and irrelevant things partaining to your traveling to the US.

Good luck
