obaaderemi: He does not know that Nigerian universities are the highest ranked in West Africa and among the highest in Africa. We have 5 universities among Africa's top 25. And yet one illiterate says Nigerians are illiterate. You see why I said he hates himself thinking the problem is with his country. This is the latest ranking for Africa.
rvp2017: Nigeria are amazing in their delusion. You'll never admit that the giant is naked. And no- it not about policies - they have lots of SOLID indicators there - and Nigeria is just doing very badly - nearly bottom 10 - and it's seem to get worse - Kenya has improved from position 99 to 80 (jumped nearly 20 countries) - while Nigeria has regressed around from 120-128!
While you regress - kenya ranked "worse" than only South Africa, Mauritus, Morroco and Tunisia - which are second world countries.
do you even know what second world country means ? stop talking rubbish and go and find out what second world means . u think it's by having electricity and tall buildings that u are a second world country? china has abundant skyscrapers and electricity still they are still third world
Danielnino00: This EAC project will require a lot of patience oo... you can't build a world class city in a year...even the great Dubai took many decades before it was fully fictional... EAC started around 2009 with sand filling of the lagoon while construction started in 2013 .. so far, they have completed about 3 skyscrapers... over 25 roads and bridges... water is already running in the city....
there even 24/7 electricity there .
I don't know y dey have not started hosting events there , like this bbnaija stuff and award shows
NairobiWalker: It doesn't matter what some irrelevant fool pretends to see us as, what matters to us is what we really are and we'll never allow anyone to put us down as long as we know the truth.
if you know who you are then y are u and ur brothers here in nairaland trying to make your country relevant?
why are u here trying to prove to we Nigerians that Kenya is "better than Nigeria" if you knew who you were and your countries relevance in Africa and world , u wudnt come here trying so hard to make your country relevant
america is an example of a country that know who they are, you can never see Americans arguing with Germans or Britons on whos country is better , becos they know their countries relevance and importance to d world
obaaderemi: Ignore that guy, please. Evidently he hates his country and hates himself more.. like rossiki would say. Many people like him went to Libya thinking Nigeria was bad. Their experience showed them they had taken Nigeria for granted all along. There was once a guy on this thread, mechoau ,who sold his nairabet shop and went to Kenya. His eyes cleared at the Nairobi airport. That was the last anyone heard of him. You see, most of them are semi illiterate who fail to understand that all underdeveloped countries have similar problems which are usually brought about by serious corruption from the ruling class. He keeps shouting government, forgetting that Nigerians long ago lost faith in their government and have resigned to push along in whatever the government does. In spite of all this, the country's influence on the continent through its citizens are still felt. But shallow minds can never get this.
Just30: you're foolery is admirable
Keep on fooling
While the Indians and Chinese are conquering your country .
Ghanaians started travelling way before you
And the are way more well know Ghanaians than the will ever be Nigerians.
Indians? Chinese? conquering where iffa slap u ehn u will shut up
did u just say well know Ghanaians looooooooollll
sufferNsmiling: You say I am shallow and I must be ignored ok I will give you a chance to see who is shallow here if you were the president of nigeria name one thing you will do to move nigeria forward just one thing
provide constant electricity to all parts of d nation . thats what wud fix nigeria.
with constant electricity every other thing will fall in place
obaaderemi: Of a truth the Kenyans don't know how to build businesses. The economy is too small for a country with such potentials and resources. But to them, once you don't have oil and solid minerals then you have an excuse to have a small economy. Their biggest companies are either started or owned by foreigners from Safaricom to Kenya telecom to Möbius to nakumatt. Thank God for the Indians and other foreigners among them.
yeah true , but when do you think EAC is gonna be completed . they are taking too long
Jay254: Nigerians are so funny. This one thread have given you guys sleepless nights. There are 100's of threads here with funny stories from Kenya.. They pull alot of traffic and abuses, making me wonder how obsessed you guys are with Kenya.
Now that we beat you in real life it becomes so painful.
Btw real life is not GDP but quality of life for the citizens..
of all the countries to be obsessed with, its kenya! really
dude d truth is Nigerians see Kenya as a small country that is irrelevant. thats just d bitter truth
mtis: Its not like w’re trying to boss you up but just that Nigeria got the biggest black population in the world hence represents Africa in a way..So if ya doing bad Africa in a way will look bad (rem sh**thole thingy ).So I would be happy if Nigeria was doing well (That from bottom of my heart)..But look at the figure below n ya tell me if that’s gonna happen soon ..Pull up your socks guys
nwoke37: Lagos is indeed getting set to be the New York and California of Nigeria and ultimately Africa...
My problem is... why are most things centralized in Lagos? I mean in terms of manufacturing, financial, real estate and hospitality, entertainment, and the tech sector.
We need other cities to have their own specialization. Like in America, New York is financial, Los Angeles is Hollywood, Las Vegas is entertainment, and so on....
I know , but we have to start from somewhere . remember america wasn't built in a day, it to america over 200years to get to were they are now
sufferNsmiling: Ok nigeria's gdp in africa and lagos gdp is the biggest city in africa. Now in education kenya beats nigeria. In doing business kenya beats nigeria. Countries to live in kenya beats nigeria. Security kenya beats nigeria. Healthcare kenya beats nigeria. Life expectancy kenya beats nigeria. I am not sure of this but in manufacturing kenya beats nigeria. If you go to any blind man and ask him which country do you want to live in nigeria or kenya 99% of the blind men we'll say kenya. You have a city with a big gdp which is last in everything .the airport is one of the worst in africa. The metropolitan system is one of the worst in africa. It is one of the worst cities in africa to live in. One of the most polluted cities in africa and the noisiest city in africa please tell what is the gdp off lagos nigeria 4 if the infrastructure is not on the ground. Goodnight nairalanders.
baba you just dey yarn dust
if u don't have anything new to say no talk here again
obaaderemi: Every Nigerian knows all of this, mister. What we are telling people like you is that in spite of all our problems and bad governance, Nigerians have created their own opportunities through sheer hard work and belief in their own abilities. This is the reason why Nigeria has Africa's biggest economy. That is what the nigerians you see here are celebrating. Unlike the kenyans who have the europeans and the indians and arabs to thank for where they are. One of them not long ago was even boasting of how direct British rule and Asian domination helped them.If you still don't get it then I can't help you. You need to see beyond your frustration.
I dunno y d guy is telling us something we already know , narrating stale news for us
obaaderemi: Some folk asked for Lagos GDP. This extract from the economist magazine of London should help:
"And in this regard it has done well. The state produces about $90 billion a year in goods and services, making its economy bigger than that of most African countries, including Ghana and Kenya. Much of Nigeria’s industry, which once thrived in the north, can now be found in the suburban manufacturing estate of Agbara. Cranes hang over the city and land is being reclaimed from the sea as developers rush to satisfy the vast appetite for property."https://www.economist.com/news/middle-east-and-africa/21656701-nigerias-commercial-capital-crowded-noisy-violentand-model-rest?zid=304&ah=e5690753dc78ce91909083042ad12e30 Lagos is quite chaotic and can do with some more planning and decongestation. But it still kicks asss from Lagos to malindi.
hmmm Nigeria's GDP has reached 573bn wow Its even higher than I thought
sufferNsmiling: I did not come here to fight . I came here to tell the truth. I am not siding kenya. We nigeria do not want to hear the truth economy is in a critical mass . We only are surviving on borrowing money right left and centre. Nigerians spend more on education in ghana than in nigeria is that a country. A country where most of the citizens invest in other countries. A country which is rank number one in the world in capital flight. If you say 5 million nigerians in ghana . 1.5 million in south africa and up to 16 million nigerians in other african countries 11 million of those are in liga. More nigerians are in african countries than in europe or america is this the type of country we want. Since 1980 nigerian lecturers, teachers and doctors have bin running to other african countries. The truth hurts but if we do not tell ourselves it we cannot move forward
oga Nigerians are scattered all over d world , y are u saying its only african countries only African countries ? and y are u here talking "the truth hurts" when every single person here knows d truth abt Nigeria , dem tell u say we nor know , what my fellow Nigerians are trying to do here is clear up any midconceptin and fake story abt Nigeria nobody is hyping Nigeria here
so don't come and be forming truth sayer , and be telling us something d whole world knows mtcheew
EAC will soon be completed and become d most advanced mega city in Africa and will be among d world best cities , Kenyans will come and say its a lie that we "cooked up the city" dangote is building one of d largest refineries in d world in Lagos when its done + EAC Lagos economy wud be larger than the whole east Africa +southern Africa combined
obaaderemi: You wrote like a wise educated elder. First of all if you were familiar with nairaland and Nigeria itself, you would notice that we are our own greatest critics. Nigeria (I exclude the government here) competes against itself. We taunt ourselves daily and it drives our private sector which is dominated by the southerners anyway. We compare Nigeria of today with that of yesterday and we are not comfortable with where we are. These are the things that drive us. But I can see it's not the same with your brothers here..They are burying their heads in the sand. They have already started attacking you for being objective and for not attacking Nigeria like the rest of them. Their inferiority complex is so glaring for all to see. Meanwhile there is a Nigerian running amuck here posting rubbish about Nigeria, by the name suffernsmiling, you will notice how no Nigerian has insulted him back. But your insecure brothers are already angry with you. I dedicate this video to you:
kikuyu1: Not to throw shade but really, nigga! Kenya of 2013 and 2018 are 2 different countries! And no,correcting misinfo and false beliefs isn't low self esteem.
