There is nothing as fatal as a blow from a “consanguineal fist”.  A cut from a “sibling” hurts deeper than that from a stranger. I have been inflicted severe cuts – caustic verbal attacks – by some Igbo persons for advocating a president of Igbo extraction in 2023. While some of them are irritated by the attention that I have been able to generate for the cause, a few others see the “advocacy” as a means of cutting deals for filthy lucre.

The fiercest opposition to the cause, “president of Igbo extraction in 2023”, has been the people for which it is championed – the Igbo.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has filed 11 charges bordering on fraud against musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, for alleged credit card fraud.

The charges with suit number FHC /L / 178C / 19, were filed before a Lagos State High Court on Thursday.

German prosecutors on Thursday demanded life in jail for a male nurse accused of being the country’s worst peacetime serial killer for murdering around 100 hospital patients.

Niels Hoegel, 42, who is already behind bars for six killings, has confessed to giving scores more intensive-care patients drug overdoses because he enjoyed the thrill of trying to reanimate them at the last moment.

The Comptroller-General, Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), has appealed to Nigerians to stop eating foreign rice because it is poisonous.

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday embark on a five days trip to Saudi Arabia.

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted a temporary order restraining the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and four others from probing Senator Bukola Saraki, the Senate President.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo, the presiding judge, granted the order after listening to the Senate President’s ex parte application, as moved by his lawyer, Sunday Onubi.

Adepoju: Eagles Should Expect Tough Game vs Argentina With Or Without Messi

Former Nigeria international Mutiu Adepoju has dismissed the absence of Barcelona star Lionel Messi from the international friendly between Argentina and Nigeria stating it will not make any difference.

After securing they places for next year's World Cup, the Super Eagles and Argentina will square off in a friendly in Krasnodar, Russia, on Tuesday.

But Argentina will be without star forward Messi who flew back to Spain after helping his team pip FIFA 2018 World Cup Russia 1-0 in a friendly game on Saturday.

But Adepoju who faced Argentina on three occasions during his Super Eagles career (USA 1994, Confederation Cup 1995, Korea/Japan 2002), said the South Americans still parade world class players who can hurt Nigeria.

"We should be expecting a tough game, as usual, as it use to be with Argentina," Adepoju told completesportsnigeria.com. "Playing against Argentina is not always easy. We should expect a fierce and interesting game.

"Messi not being part of the game does not matter. We are going to play against an Argentina side that parade great players.

"They will put up their best to make sure that they give us a good game. They have a great squad with players playing in big clubs in the world," the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner said.

The good thing about this game is that it would afford Gernot Rohr the opportunity to try out other fringe players. And I hope he keeps our record of not losing to Algeria in 27 years intact.
