You are looking at football from one perspective the Spanish style of football. Things have moved on you are being too nostalgic.

A style that sees only two teams dominate in thier league consistently. But two teams with the best 2 players in the world.

Take out Messi from Barcelona and l tell you they will not have the same over riding dominance. Look at Real M.since Ronaldo left and they are not the same.

Most top quality teams are not entirely reliant on just one player.

Now to mitigate against the technical possession game of Barcelona. You simply bring in pace, more physicality and go more direct. And don't worry about possession.

Chelsea did it with Drogba.

Football has moved on and spending time on the ball with possession only is no longer the killer tactic. Pep has evolved the system with what he has done at Bayern and Man city.

Liverpool did it and gave Barcelona a football lesson with a crazy defeat right in thier backyard.

If it worked Carzola would still be in Arsenal but he has dropped to insignificance in Villareal.

The system also requires that everyone plays the same way.

Look at Seria A and see what the combination of speed, technical ability with physicality has done for Lukaku at Inter. Although for me irrespective of the league Lukaku is a proven tested World class striker.

To summarise I made it clear the EPL is the most competitive league in the World. Best is open to debate.

With regards to the Championship it is the most competitive and best 2nd tier in the World. It is undoubtedly the 2nd tier with the most finances and better players mostly follow the €€€£££.

Last seasons Newport County in the 4th tier of English football knocked out Leicester City 2-1 in the FA cup. Does that make them better ❓ l dont think so.

Athletico Madrid played a very defensive game and were able to win the game. They played thier tactics and they won. Is Athletico Madrid better than Liverpool ❓ Again l very much doubt it.

Now let's go to bottom 5 of La Liga , with Celta Vigo, Mallorca and Leganese. Look at the players they have and tell me they will beat Watford, West Ham and Villa

Statistics have to be used properly and as such are indicative but not entirely conclusive.

Cardiff were relegated back to the Championship with thier poor quality quintessential dogs of war, kick and rush type football. Where they belong.

Poor quality teams often spend the larger part of the game defending which means lots of blocks, long balls, interceptions, tackles, clearances. As a consequence they have lots of these types of high statistics. It is not a reflection of quality but desperation and limited ability .

Leganese is a poor team, that has only been able to win 5 games out of 31 games in La Liga. It is not benchmark for quality.

La Liga wins accolades and is classed as the best in Europe on account of the units of measurement used. Those accolades are almost entirely anchored on the exploits of Real and Madrid. You could add a lower third in this group Athletico Madrid.

So you have a huge gap between the top two teams Real and Barca who have probably one everything for the past 15 years. If you look at EPL over the same period you will have about 6 different teams over the same period winning the league.

But more worrying is the gap in quality of the bottom half of La liga. When you look at Segunda División it is nowhere near on the level of the Championship. So using the second tier Championship as a measure of players quality fails.

Look at the value of players in Bournemouth a relegation club and Leganese. In terms of players value Leganese cannot compete. Or we could look at Fulham in the Championship and the value of thier players once again Leganese cannot compete on value or quality.

Essentially Leganese would struggle to compete in the Championship. They would not be big spenders and be mid table at best IMO.

The reality is players follow the money not just the league. Nobody is going to leave the Championship for lower pay to just play in La Liga.

This is why l do not agree with your proposition.
